  1. The Herald did a story on Terry Wanless at a time when there were many complaints about him. So why would Buning be treated any different?

I'm waiting for Diggler to confirm it. Then it will be official.
  3. Don't people have anything better to do with their time than to set off fireworks at 3 a.m.? Don't people have anything better to do with their time than to shoot fireworks into my yard, threatening my family's saftey and my property? Don't people have anything better to do than engage in an activity that starts fires and keeps the fire department running all day long? Look, I grew up in a town in which shooting fireworks off on the Fourth of July was legal. As a kid, it was one of my favorite times of the year. The fireworks legal then were more powerful than what's legal today. I remember watching my father launch a skyrocket that went straight into the roof of a neighbor's house. We all held our breath hoping that it didn't set the house on fire. Fortunately, it didn't. But I remember then realizing how dangerous fireworks could be. And even though most people don't intentionally damage other peoples' property and threaten their safety, it's not something that can easily be controled. So while fireworks are great fun, I understand why they're illegal to fire off in town.
  4. Law enforcement: What a concept.
  5. So that means that anyone who takes the job is a "can't do-er"?
  6. I miss the days when it was legal to fire a 12-pounder loaded with grapeshot into your neighbor's back yard barbecue all in the name of celebrating the Fouth of July. But the law's the law.
  7. Well, setting of fireworks in city limits is against the law. I would hope that our police are enforcing it. Otherwise, what's the point?
  8. Jonathan Toews joins order of the Buffalo Hunt Sounds hostile and abusive to me.
  9. Certainly it wouldn't be the first time a reporter got something wrong. Nor would it be the first time that a kid and his relatives claimed he was innocent of doing something he actually did. I'll reserve judgement until all the facts are in.
  10. There's also the "View New Posts" link near the top right of each forum page.
  11. I'm reasonably certain that the American Indian representative selected for the committee is no more likely to be "some random guy from the reservation" than the student representative was "some random kid from the union."
  12. I don't have a problem with it if, as you say, the nickname issue doesn't become a litmus test for who is selected as the next president. However, given the often-stated agenda of the person who promoted the idea, I have difficulty believing that it won't happen. The truly ironic apsect of this is that UND has done more for American Indians than any other public university in this region. It has more programs, more students and more services for American Indians than NDSU, SDSU and USD. It even puts the NCAA's "model institutions" of Wisconsin and Iowa to shame in this regard. And yet, when it comes time to select a new president at UND, a particular minority must be represented in the name of inclusion. Why? Are we seriously supposed to believe that UND will do less for Native Americans if they don't have a representative on the selection committee?
  13. And what about all the minorities on campus being excluded?
  14. If it means that the nickname issue becomes one of the primary issues in selecting the next UND president (and I suspect that it will), then this is a mistake.
  15. Sorry. Carry on!
  16. Vaht?
  17. Ya know, this is the first "fact" posted in this thread that I actually believe.
  18. This announcement was in the June 27 University Letter:
  19. You could be right. However, it wouldn't be the first time that the NCAA misapplied or misinterpreted its own rules.
  20. That's why you are no Brad Schlossman.
  21. I won't believe it until Brad Schlossman confirms it.
  22. Well, the Sioux are 5-2-3 at St. Cloud over the past five seasons. So maybe that's the "ruckus" that concerned Saigo.
  23. That's the smartest thing you've ever posted here. You're not sure. You don't know because you have no way of knowing. You simply imply, insinuate, insult and use innuendo to create a negative perception of those who disagree with you. And then you whine and complain and wonder why you get no respect here. Yes, follow your own advice. Look in the mirror.
  24. I agree. But I don't know anybody who does that. Do you?
  25. I've always liked this song.
