There was a shady looking character in my neighborhood this evening selling hockey sticks autographed by current and former Fighting Sioux players, as well as others. I normally don't buy anything from people selling fish, steaks or hockey sticks door-to-door, but he said it was for a good cause. Plus, Sappysieve let him into his yard. It was on at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and I recorded it. The segment began with President Kupchella standing in front of the multitude in his green shirt saying a few words about UND's 125th anniversary. "Stand Up and Cheer" was playing in the background. Then they cut to the group shot in which the UND logo shouted "Good morning, America!" and yelled and waved. The "Good Morning America" hosts seemed impressed. One of them tried to sing along with "Stand Up and Cheer," but wasn't very good at it. He gets an A for giving the good old college try, however. EDIT: Here's a version posted on YouTube. The quality's not too great, but it gives you an idea of what GMA did.

Okay, I won't. But it is a guy who looks and sounds just like Pat Sweeney.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Grand Forks posted some very interesting radar images here of the Northwood tornado. Because the radar station at Mayville was relatively close to Northwood, debris from the tornado hitting the town showed up on radar. It's described as " a rarely seen debris signature."

So does that mean I was lying about how much I paid for my general admission tickets?

You asked a question and I gave you an honest answer. I have no idea what everyone else paid for their tickets. I only know what I paid for mine. If you know that tickets are cheaper elsewhere in Grand Forks, please let me know where that is because I'd rather only pay $10.

The lightning last night was unbelievable. After 50+ years of living in the Dakotas, I'd never seen lightning of such intensity that lasted for so long. My thoughts and prayers are with the residents of Northwood.

"Force of the north" is a marketing slogan. That's according to someone in the UND athletic department who would know.

I just wanted to mention that I took some photos at last night's game. I probably won't have time to post them until late tonight, but I'll provide a link after after I upload them.

And my point, once again, is how can you compare two teams who aren't playing the same competition, even if you have seen both play?

Unless they're both playing the same competition, just seeing both play doesn't mean much. And it was a Bison troll who started the inane comparison talk.

I usually buy gas at Valley Dairy and I was totally unaware of it.

The two I bought were $18 a piece.

No, I'm agreeing with him. There's no reason to believe that Valley Dairy's promotion resulted in any significant increase in attendance.
