    Sioux v. U-18

YaneA, didn't I see you at the football game Saturday a row down and three or four seats to my right? If that was you, I hope my daughter's swearing at the refs didn't bother you too much.

Hmm. Can any of them can skate?
  3. That's right, I mentioned you. It wasn't a recommendation. Radiotelephone? I still have my Linotype Certificate of Proficiency, but you don't see me bragging about it.

I seem to remember certain Bison fans making this same prediction right after NDSU beat Montana.

    Clueless fans?

Yeah. What he said. We don't need no help looking like idiouts.
  6. I can't deny that Schultz adds excitement to the broadcasts and can be very entertaining. However, if you've ever watched a Sioux game on TV while listening to him on the radio, it's easy to see how much he misses and how much he gets wrong. But I could live with those mistakes. It's Ed's short fuse and his unprofessional behavior that bother me the most. I just don't like someone like him represesenting UND.
  7. Not to mention the fact that I can't talk or think fast enough to do what Ed does. Rumor has it that the Sicatoka is available and interested in the job.

All I can say is...WOW! I didn't think that there was any way this game would be in Grand Forks. I've made the last two games and I plan to be there again to yell myself hoarse. And here I thought that with the clapping injury I sustained today at the WSU game, I was done for the season. Time to suck it up and cheer the soon on to another win at the Fabulous Al!
  10. Let's recount: You made a generalization about all posters on this board that anyone who reads it with the least bit of objectivity knows isn't true. Then you drew a meaningless conclusion from your non-scientific survey. When I called you on it, you responded by saying that your conclusion really is meaningless. If that makes me "up tight," then I guess I am. By the way, happy Thanksgiving.

    UND Coaches Show

Tommiejo, to my knowledge, the show is not broadcast over the Web.
  12. That still doesn't answer my question.

    UND Coaches Show

Live from Lola's Authentic Northern Italian Restaurant in beautiful downtown Grand Forks. Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman are the hosts with UND associate head coach Dave Hakstol. TH asks Hakstol to compare UND
  14. Which one is the governor?
  15. Dale Lennon is leading off the show. He will be followed by Gene Roebuck and then Dave Hakstol who is filling in for Dean Blais.
  16. WYOBISONMAN, Many Sioux fans posting on this board have expressed a desire to see UND go D-IAA. Some have expressed a desire to continue the NDSU-UND rivarly in football. I don't know where you get the idea that "Sioux fans posting on this site are pretty slanted in thier view." That being said, I have no idea which view represents the majority, and neither do you. I do believe that the deeper the Sioux go into the playoffs, the less enthusiasm there will be among Sioux fans for playing NDSU again. And should the Sioux win their second national championship, I think I can guess which side of the issue most UND fans will be on.
  17. Grand Forks has changed a great deal since I moved here in 1992. Most of that change occurred after 1997. I think you need to come back for a visit and bring yourself up to date.
  18. The only way to know for sure is to play the game. As I've said, that's equivalent to playing Russian roulette with UND's playoff chances. I never said a UND victory was an impossibility. I said it wasn't worth the risk. I didn't make that argument. You did.
  19. I just did a search of the Duluth News Tribune Web site and there is nothing about Caig leaving UMD. It's a hoax.
  20. Find one post that I've ever written saying that NDSU is wrong to go D-IAA. I've never said that because I don't believe it. Have I been skeptical of some claims NDSU and SDSU (my alma mater) have made about the benefits of moving up? Yes. Do I question whether NDSU has planned well for the move? Yes. Do I think it's ludicrous for some Bison fans to claim that UND shares equal responsibility for ending the rivalry with UND? Most definitely because it's absolutely not true. If NDSU sincerely believes that the path to greater glory and riches lies in competing at a higher level in the NCAA, then I have no problem with that. The school's administrators are acting in what they perceive to be NDSU's best interest. That's what they're paid to do. However, UND must also act in its best interest. If we were planning a move to D-IAA or even seriously discussing it, then perhaps playing NDSU and other schools at its level would make sense. But we're not. For the foreseeable future, UND will play in the NCC with the goal of winning the conference and D-II national championships. When Dale Lennon publicly states that playing NDSU could potentially hurt UND's chances to win a national title, I believe him. Who should I believe? Should I believe NDSU's position on the issue or Lennon's? Who is most likely to have UND's best interest in mind? Gene Taylor or Roger Thomas? It is not in UND's best interest to play NDSU as long as the two schools are in different divisions and are not competing on a level playing field. Could we do it? Certainly. However, to do so is like playing playing Russian roulette each season with UND's chance to win a national title. It's simply not worth the risk.
  21. The relationship has to be fair for both parties to get something out of it. Once one party changes the nature of the relationship in a manner that's inherently unfair, it's not reasonable expect the other party to stay in the relationship. The party that caused the change to occur is the one responsible for damaging the relationship. Get it?
  22. You're right. It is stupid. It's stupid for anyone to think the rivalry ending isn't entirely NDSU's fault. It was NDSU's decision to leave DII and put the rivalry in jeopardy. That's the truth. It's a fact. Nothing you can say changes it. Maybe this hypothetical example will help you understand: Husband to wife: I'm sorry to tell you this, dear, but I want a divorce. I'm attracted to another woman who's far more beautiful than you. Plus, I think she's rich. Wife: What? Are you joking? Have you slept with her? Husband: Not yet. We've only had dinner together a couple times. But I spend every waking moment thinking about what it will be like to make love to her. I just know that once she sees the situation my way, it's going to be great for both of us. Wife: I'm shocked. I'm absolutely stunned. Why would you throw away a perfectly good marriage when you don't even know how this woman feels about you? Husband: My life's in a rut. I'm ready for new conquests and challenges. I want to grow. I want to hang out with the rich and famous. I want to be seen with a beautiful woman on my arm. I want the guys at the office to envy me. I'm also hoping that being with her will cure my baldness, clear up my acne and give me a better personality. Wife: (Sighs) I thought we had a wonderful relationship and a good marriage. Sure, we've had our differences, but we've had some great times together, too. However, if that's how you really feel, I suppose it would be best if we divorced. Husband: That's great, honey. I knew you'd understand. And after the divorce, we can still have sex, right? Wife: Huh? Are you crazy? Of course not! Husband: Well, fine, if that's the way you want it. But just remember: You're the one who ended our relationship.

    Missing UND student

I just came back from Engelstad Arena where a colleague and I attempted to volunteer for the search. We were told that they have more than 1,200 people out in the field right now and that they were in a holding pattern to see if they needed anyone else. A few minutes later, they said they didn't need any more volunteers today, but would need more tomorrow.
  25. Let's try this again. Who left?
