  1. So you're picking the Sioux to lose Saturday? Because that's the only way he'll be closer.
  2. Sal, I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of your friend Jim Poolman (also known as Poncho). I had a bad feeling about his health when he described his accident. He explained a lot to me in some private messages he sent my way. I think he would have adjusted to this board and had a good time here. I'm only sorry we lost him before that happened. Thanks for letting us know.
  3. She prays a lot, as do most UND students at Springfest.
  4. Masochist, huh?
  5. I feel for you. There's nothing like being in the Ralph for a Sioux game.
  6. But wait! There's more! Canisius gets beat 7-1 by the US Under-18 National Development Team and goons it up in the process. This article from the Buffalo News adds another chapter to the Griffs' woes since coach Cavanaugh was dumped.
  7. One city's "pork barrell" project is another city's "economic development" project. Unfortunately, recognizing somebody else's "pork" is always easier than spotting your own.
  8. I'm sure it happened because he was separated from her.
  9. Recent play, plus Greene out for two; Fuher out for one; Murray out; Kaip out; a two-week layoff; and team distractions. According to Virg Foss in today's Herald, BSU will probably be without one or two of its top scorers. That should help the Sioux.
  10. As does nearly every member of Congress. What else is new?

    Super Bowl

What can I say? After I invented hockey, the Canadians insisted on naming a team after me.

Is the NFL still playing? Judging from the Grand Forks Herald's coverage, I assumed the pro football season ended when the Vikes lost to the Eagles. I don't think it will be close. The Pats (what a great name for a sports team!) will win it 34-17. If it's close and a thriller, my money's on the SDSU Division II kicker. Nice picture with that story. I didn't know I had the body for streaking, but if that guy can get famous doing it, I should be rich and famous beyond my wildest dreams.
  13. Because they couldn't land at the Hoople Municipal Airport.
  14. GFAFB closing down would definitely be a blow to Grand Forks. But people tend to forget that the city has already suffered economic blows when the Air Force moved out the bomber and missile units. If the base closes now, it won't have as big an impact as if it had closed 15 years ago.
  15. Oh, I see. Bombers flying to Moscow are the only Air Force planes that require refueling these days. Thanks for clearing that up.
  16. I lived in Bismarck for 15 years before moving to Grand Forks, and I wouldn't mind living there again. But I wouldn't say that Bismarck "blows away" Grand Forks. There are things about Grand Forks I'd really miss if I moved back to Bismarck.
  17. Aerial refueling isn't a justifiable mission?

They probably hired Ed Schultz as a consultant on tape dumping.

I wish I could help because it sounds like a great project, but I haven't seen anything like that.
  20. Heck, he didn't even like Canisius being there, and I think they play hockey.

You have an excellent membory. When you get to be my age, stuff that far back is just a blur.
  22. It was probably because of the basketball games in the Ralph. When Roebuck was on, they talked about how cold it was in the arena, even without the ice.
  23. TH: The Sioux haven't played since their series at Colorado College. Bemidji State is coming to Engelstad Arena this weekend. Let's take care of some business right a way. There's a young man (Matt Greene) on the team who found himself in a difficult situation and got unlucky. DH: We
  24. There's a news release on the UND athletic department's Web site concerning Matt Greene.
