  1. Respected? By whom? Does it show respect when hundreds or thousands of people chant "Eff the Gophers!" in unison? Does it show respect when a large group of people stands the entire game and blocks the view of others who paid to see it? It'd be nice to think that "respect" was part of the equation on this issue, but as far as I can tell, it isn't. It's about one group of people refusing to abide by minimal standards of socially acceptable behavior and saying "Screw you!" to those who object. Anyone who truly respects the Sioux name and actually cares about the image that UND presents to the world would engage in a concerted effort to solve the problem. Making excuses for the troublemakers or proposing a reshuffling of student seating and pretending that it's some sort of great "compromise" does nothing but encourage more disrespectful behavior.
  2. Who listens to the PA announcement before every game that says profane language is grounds for ejection from the arena? Nobody. Once people see the video a few times, they'll ignore it.
  3. First, I agree that it probably won't happen. Second, I'm not saying that moving the students to a new area will make the problem worse simply because of the area's location. I'm saying it will be worse because the message is sent that swearing wasn't permissible where the students were locacted, but it is permissible in a different area. How, exactly, does that solve the swearing problem? It doesn't solve a thing. Third, the video idea is DOA. Everyone in the building is now warned that swearing is grounds for removal before each and every game. Everyone buys a ticket on which the warning is printed. To believe that a video will solve the problem is simply naive.
  4. Once again, the students -- especially the true student hockey fans -- are being horribly represented by their elected officials. As long as the focus remains on allowing the students to stand and swear, the bad behavior will continue and the complaints will continue. This proposed solution solves nothing. In fact, it only makes the situation worse.
  5. When I lived in Bismarck, I can't remember one person who came to visit me who was impressed with the State Capitol Building from the outside.

    DI vs. DII

I'd like to know what's happened since the vote that would lead anyone to seriously believe that USD was even capable of going moving to DI-AA, no matter how much they might have wanted to at the time.

    AD Canidates

I should probably stay out of this, but it would be nice if those who have come here to lobby for their favorite AD candidate by casting dispersions upon Phil Harmeson would understand that he, too, has a family and has served UND long and well. It might also be a good idea if they knew something about him, his history in athletics and his job before portraying him in a less than honorable light. I'm certain that Harmeson intends to do what he feels is in the best interest of the university. To insinuate otherwise is silly.

    DI vs. DII

All it takes is money. How much ya got?
  9. Sorry, but without a link, it's difficult to know exactly how much you are posting. Why not include a link to the story?
  10. Just a reminder: Posting the entire text of articles is a SiouxSports.com "no no." A quote or two with a link to the article is the best approach to use.
  11. Thanks for pointing that out. The correction has been made.

Federov obviously doesn't recognize your "license to kill" avatar. Otherwise, he wouldn't be getting on your case.

There's a story in today's GF Herald about the AD search and Lt. Col. Tom Buning, the associate athletic director for facilities and operations at Army, being interviewed today.
  16. Fetch was right yesterday. The front page of today's Herald sports section has a big story by Kevin Fee about Jake Marto of Grand Forks Central selecting UND over Minnesota and UM-Duluth.
  17. All D1 players aren't created equal, and neither are all D1 hitters.

    Fabian's non-goal

Not that there's anything wrong with that...
  19. Fetch said he wasn't coming until 06-07.

    Fabian's non-goal

Sudo reporting isn't a job, its an adventure.
  21. That class I took on emoticon translation really paid off today.
  22. Definitely.

    Fabian's non-goal

I took the liberty of cropping and digitally enhancing Melissa's photo. Unfortunately, my effort only revealed one key detail.
  24. Sorry. You're right. What was I thinking?
