THETRIOUXPER will correct me if I'm wrong, but according to hockeydb.com, Oshie played only 11 games for the Sioux Falls Stampede and that was after his senior season ended. This same site says Brian Lee played just 12 games in the USHL for the Lincoln Stars. Does playing a season at a higher level help? Yes. Is it always necessary? No.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. (Repeat as needed.)

Yes, I was right there when it happened. I saw the film get exposed to light and knew that you'd have problems. Tough break.
-
No, but I didn't drop my camera on the floor and expose the film to light, either. And it probably helps that my camera doesn't use film and I can see how the pictures turn out immediately after I take them.

I suspect that most anyone with even a passing knowledge of college hockey is aware of this. People just like to give Gopher fans poop. You should be used to it by now.

The HF profile hasn't been updated since Feb. 21. Some of the text reads as if it were written before the 05-06 college hockey season began. I think that what Cary Eades said about Oshie before the season started remains true:

Yet another amazing prediction made by THETRIOUXPER. How does he do it?
-
Who is this "T.J. Oshie" dude?
-
It can't be a joke. I already shot the album cover.

I'm 100 percent in agreement with you there. Let's see what happens on April 27 and what UND decides to do after that. Talking about replacement names makes it seem as if we're conceding the battle to the NCAA. Does anyone else remember when UND was playing GVSU for the Division II football championship and one of the ESPN sportscasters called North Dakota "Notre Dame"? He was confused by the interlocking logo. I preferred the old geometric Sioux logo to the Blackhawk's logo because it was unique to UND. For the same reason, I prefer the new Sioux logo to the Blackhawk's logo. That's why I'd like to see the interlocking ND replaced with something original and unique to UND.

In today's Grand Forks Herald, Virg Foss has a column comparing T.J. Oshie to Tony Hrkac. Scott Koberinski, who played with Hrkac and coaches Oshie, is one of the few people who can make that comparison.

You can ask, but it's silly and there's no reason the NCAA has to tell you. Guilt. Righting historical injustices. Brand's desire to make the NCAA the conscience of college athletics and a catalyst for social change. That sort of thing. It's all been covered in the threads of these forums many, many times.

Agreed. It's not a money thing. It's an ideology thing.

Which one of them was a high NHL draft choice? Of that group, the only one I'm aware of who had the opportunity to leave early was Jones after his junior year. He set a great example by playing all four years at UND. Would it be nice if more players followed Jones' example? Certainly. Is it realistic to expect it? No. Zach Parise and Travis Roche are two that come to mind. They are? He had 39 points as a freshman and 47 points this season. A 50-point season is considered exceptional for a junior or a senior. Zajac was just three points away from that as a sophomore. Also, I don't think you can simply look at a player's stats and decide whether he's ready to move on to the next level. Zajac was perhaps the best two-way player on the team. He played on the penalty kill and the power play, where he excelled. Besides, it's not up to you or me or Dave Hakstol to decide if a player is ready to leave. It's up to the team that drafted the player or the team that wants a player to sign a free-agent contract. If the team wants the player badly enough and offers the player a deal he can't refuse, who are we to say he shouldn't go? Murray was a special case. Playing in the NHL is the goal that all hockey players strive to attain. Given the fact that their time as professional athletes is limited, why shouldn't any college player jump to the pros if the opportunity presents itself and the deal is right?

Thanks for your role in making this happen, southpaw.

Now if Elliott would only go, too...

There was an independently developed mod for NHL 2004 that allowed you to play with many college teams, including all those in the WCHA, CCHA and Hockey East. However, the NCAA shut down distribution of the mod, so it's no longer available.
-
What would you rather see? A player with great potential who plays up to that potential and leaves after two or three years? Or a player with great potential who stays all four years because he never lives up to his promise? The fact that players with great potential are developing here and leaving early speaks volumes about the quality of UND's hockey program. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Nice of you to drop by, take a look at the wound and rip the scab off again.
-
You have to remember that last season, someone in the Tampa Bay organization said the Smaby was wasting his time playing college hockey because of the emphasis on getting rid of the clutch and grab. I think Smaby's more ready for the NHL than Greene was at this time last year.
-
Not that I want to get into a "He started it!" contest, but this latest round of Kessel bashing began with a Gopher fan responding to a post that was more than two weeks old.
-
Maybe you should just put it in your sig line.

Now, now, be nice or I'll sic my dog on you.
