  1. Probably not, I'm pretty sure his brothers' names are Denis and Claude. And if he were a cousin or something he probably would've mentioned it in passing with all the Devils that have gone through UND. Speaking of goalies named Brodeur . . . there appears to be one currently at SSM (Marty's oldest son). Perhaps Zach and Travis can persuade Marty into a visit to UND in a few years if Anthony turns out to be any good.
  2. If you look on NHL.com, the quote of the day comes from NJ Devil (and former LSSU'er) Brian Rolston concerning Parise: Not anything we don't already know, but it's nice to have that effort validated by others around him. Oh, and did anyone catch Commie on NHL Live on Friday? He was a great interview.
  3. Yes, but Parise's quote in one of the local newspapers was: "... I didn't do it blatently." I would also like to add that if Ryan Miller didn't reach out to smack Parise in the ass, he probably would've made the save on the Devils' 3rd goal. Just sayin.
  4. PC beat Notre Dame tonight
  5. Ankle sprain
  6. Why not just let the band play it? I mean, it's the National Anthem, not your goddamn American Idol audition. I'd like PP goals tonight, lots of 'em.
  7. I did. I'm curious to know what assessment Wild fans would have of Lemaire's coaching this season, but not until it's the full lineup with Elias back to fix the chemistry issues. Link to today's Star Ledger article on Zajac. Lemaire compares and contrasts him to HOF'er Jean Ratelle; that's pretty high praise for a young player.
  8. Denver losing to Vermont? TrapTrapTrapTrapTrapTrapTrapTrapTrapTrap I want a touchdown for the Sioux tomorrow night . . . but at least no one got hurt.
  9. Come on, Twins had the bases loaded with 0 outs, the umps may have f***ed up that call but there was ample opportunity to take the lead. Now, if the Sioux could just convert the touchdown on Cannata it'll be a great end to the day.
  10. Still making a living doing that. Cost him some teeth though. Seriously, the Sioux better pick it up or Parise and Zajac are never going to hear the end of it from the former hockey east players on the Devils. Hell, even Lou Lamoriello might rag on them; I'm pretty sure Merrimack was bad back when he was coaching college hockey. 3 - 2 Sioux, much better.
  11. Can't play down to your opponent. That's how Merrimack works their way into so many close games. Keep the foot on the pedal, don't get complacent. Cycle them to death, maintain puck possession, and they'll start taking penalties. That's how you beat Merrimack.
  12. Hey, it worked for Maine all those years. I'm pretty sure someone on USCHO said the Frenchie is not eligible for this weekend at least.
  13. Eh, it's not actually downtown. More like the outskirts, but right along the river. I did my undergrad there if you have any more specific questions. I've heard from friends that the food has gotten worse in the arena (not that I ever ate it) so you might want to plan to eat before or after the game. Especially the hot dogs, don't get the hot dogs.
  14. Parise with his 1st goal tonight on the PP, with an assist for Zajac. One of the Devils broadcasters asked Parise what his feelings were on the upcoming season. His response: "Jacques is awesome." Okay, have at it Lemaire-hating Wild fans.
  15. For those interested in following Ryan Bayda's season in WBS (or JPar if he should get callled up from Wheeling), I highly recommend Jon Bombulie's WBS Penguins Blog. In addition to game recaps, he always has some inside stories on the players' lives and funny locker room or off-ice stories. He recently followed up on Bayda's journey from Saskatchewan to WB-S, PA offering this little anecdote:
  16. Having watched every single game thus far of the NHL season, I think the combo of Oshie + Kariya is gonna be awesome. Zajac and Parise start their seasons tonight against Philly and I'll be heading to the game with my brother after our Dad's 60th birthday party. And most importantly: Zach Parise will get an "A" for this season from Coach Lemaire. Link
  17. I think they also have Adam Berkhoel because he played the final playoff games when Curry got injured, and they had Dave Brown (Notre Dame) and Curtis Darling in Wheeling last year. I don't know if they've all been resigned or are still under contract. I know Curry and Thiessen are both signed to 2-way deals. Figure you have 6 or 7 open spots in the org so really what kind of shot does he have? Backing up or splitting time in the ECHL? On a positive note Parise had an absolutely filthy shootout goal tonight on former UA(F?) goalie Chad Johnson. Seriously it was vertigo inducing. Zajac had the game winner in the SO and his post game interview went something like this: SF: You had the game winner, what was your approach to the shootout? TZ: I was thinking shot all the way. SF: Well, you saw what Zach did, all those moves, why were you thinking shot? TZ: Because I can't do that.
  18. I think I enjoyed watching Zach Parise own Matt Gilroy twice in the Rags defensive zone during the first period of tonight's game a little too much. Well anyway . . . if preseason is any indicator Parise should see an increase in ice time this season because Lemaire has him paired with Zajac on the PK, something no other Devils coach has allowed him to do; Sutter only put him out at the tail end of penalties and in 4X4 situations. Also, I'm pretty sure someone mentioned JPar signing with or being invited to Pens camp . . . and does that not make sense to anyone else besides me? The Pens have so many young goalies, hell they have so many young former NCAA goalies, that it doesn't seem like there's room for him.
  19. Zach Parise once said in a q&a session that if he couldn't be a hockey player he'd actually want to play professional baseball (not be a golfer). Well . . . here you go. His Dad also once said his hand-eye was so good he never struck out as a little-leaguer.
  20. The new Mrs. Zajac is Nicole Heckle. She played at UNH while I was an undergrad so I got to see her play a couple times a year; she was really good. I think they've been together since they were in high school. And no, I don't think this is information everyone would necessarily know, but Zajac mentioned in interviews that he was getting married in summer of '09 and the only reason I knew he got married this Saturday is because one of the Devils reporters wrote a congratulatory post on his blog (so no twitter/facebook/myspace/stalking took place, I swear.)
  21. Zajac got married this past weekend. Now the only question is whether the kids will go to their Dad's alma mater or their Mom's.
  22. Long time no post Sioux fans . . . the Devils rookie/development camp was this week and today they held an open scrimmage. I would've gone, but I had to go to the dentist instead, so here's another Devils fan's perspective on Derek Rodwell: Link to full post.
  23. If anyone is home right now and has the NHL Network, Zach will be on NHL Live today at 1:05 pm.
  24. http://all-access.cbssports.com/player.htm...mp;media=111616 That's not a direct link, but highlights from all the tournament games can be found there. Just switch the sport to ice hockey in the event guide and they're all free to watch. I'm not sure if they show all of the goals.
