  1. Saw this on HFBoards: Happy St. Patrick's Day from the Oilers. No need to change Matt Greene's name.
  2. Devils Coach believes in slumping Zajac: Link - Newark Star Ledger
  3. Parise's Proud Pop Makes Good Call via Newark Star Ledger Zach's return to MN in brief: Nervous Parise comes home, gets booed, gives teammate whiplash. Devils set record for family attending game, win in shootout. Also, the Devils confirmed that JPar had season ending hip surgery in Colorado; he was one of the Parise party of 69. ( ) Something odd of note: Paul Martin had more 1st cousins (90) in attendance at the game than Parise had total people (69). Damn, can those gophers procreate.
  4. Devils website has Parise's interview from last week's NHL Live up. For WMP --> http://downloads.devils.nhl.com/audio/parise031008.wma
  5. I know, I casually check out the PWR and projected bracketology too . . . but I can't stand people who take that stuff too much to heart. The Sioux obviously aren't in a position where they need any help from other teams. It's like looking through the threads at USCHO; I hate the eleven page analysis of who fans of a certain team need to lose or tie so they flip this TUC or that and then they get themselves all worked up over what will happen. And then there are always people who still don't understand how one team losing can drop their ranking because they lost this TUC, but if this other team could just win we'd win the comparison with them and blah, blah, blah so it's another eleven pages of trying to explain what they've already explained. I wish those people would just calm down, it's not worth the stress. Just make sure your team wins, that's what really matters. Plus most of the people on USCHO are morons.
  6. I don't know why people waste their time with the "simple math" of the PWR or KRACH and what have you. Just win. Don't worry about other teams, or TUCS and your RPI, or whether you're the 3rd first seed or the 4th first seed. Just win. Just win . . . period.
  7. Toews on Inside the NHL. Did he really drive a Saturn while at UND? I drove a better car than him in high school.
  8. On the Devils radio broadcast of tonight's game, Matt Laughlin said after his fight last night, Zach Parise received a text message from former teammate Scott Gomez telling him that he needed to keep his left down lower and he left himself exposed. Parise sent a reply telling him that he and Gomez should throw down in their next game. We've created a monster. Edit: Parise with his second of the night and an ugly goal at that (or atleast that's what people who can see the game are saying.) That's goal number 30 on the season folks and the Devils win. Final score: Parise: 2 - Toronto: 1
  9. Parise vs. Boyle now up on youtube Rumor is people (and by people I mean teenage girls and middle-aged women) were yelling "take it off" during the fight. Much to their dismay all they got to see was Parise's exposed back.
  10. Parise gets into a fight and likes it - Newark Star Ledger
  11. That was his first season; he lost 1.5 bottom teeth, but got them replaced. They showed his post game interview with the press on NHL network the gist of which was: "I don't really know what happened. There was a scrum and then the next thing I know half my gear is off. It's just one of those things you've gotta do. It was fun. I don't know if they (my teammates) were laughing at me or inspired by it, but it's something you've gotta do."
  12. Hockey players are a different breed . . . if I just got punched in the face and had my clothes ripped off I wouldn't be smiling. But Zach's all like "That was awesome. Hockey is fun."
  13. Jesus, this was like the second game I didn't watch all season and I miss this. Who did he fight? Thank god for the NHL Network, I have to check this out when I get home.
  14. Zach's interview already happened . . . he was on at about quarter to 2. Didn't really say anything new. He said Marty told the forwards how to beat Toskala and said he enjoys watching the Red Wings (he was a Wings fan growing up). Just a run of the mill interview, Zach was as usual very polite, even when chided about being a heartthrob for hordes of teenage girls.
  15. Uh, I think Zach just scored . . . I can't see the game, sounded like a weird angle goal. Goal number 26, snaps a 4 game pointless streak. Parise is 6 goals shy of topping his career high for a season with 17 games left in the season.
  16. Karl Goehring named AHL Player of the Week
  17. Most recent update of the PWR has them at tied for 23, so still a TUC for now (but contingent on the rest of tonight's scores)
  18. Some HE final scores . . . UNH wins 2 - 1 (Merrimack really tried guys, sorry) BU over UMass Hamster 3 - 0 PC over BC 3 - 2
  19. BC losing helps the Sioux PWR doesn't it? Either way the Supahfans can't believe they're losing. I like that the two college hockey teams I root for both gave up losing for Lent.
  20. It's been reported by a very reliable poster on njdevs.com that JPar is recovering from hip surgery and is out for the rest of the season. Also, he was not included on the Baby Devs clear day roster and has not been seen around the team or rink in some time. Best of luck to Jordan 'cause hip surgery sucks . . . my Mom had 2 of 'em in less than 2 years.
  21. Lou talked to the media after the trade deadline passed and he said the only other move they (the Devils) attempted to make was to deal a D man after acquiring Salvador (because now they have 9) but he had no takers. I haven't heard anything to substantiate the Parise for Lang idea.
  22. Maybe she wanted to see if the Sioux player would bite her like Derian Hatcher bit Zajac. As for the insensitivity of the comment, I'm female and it made me Then again I've never been subjected to prejudice in the workplace because of my gender as some have mentioned . . . but I have been around a large group of women who were all at that time of the month and that is not a fun experience (especially when the group happens to be a competitive athletic team)
  23. Okay, so it's not a former Sioux player, hell not even a former WCHA player . . . but the AHL's QC Flames held a jersey auction this weekend and former Michigan player Eric Nystrom recreated the on-ice striptease scene from Slapshot and it's all kinds of awesome (well, if you're female or you really like Slap Shot). Watch This is right up there with Matt Rust's interpretation of Glamorous . . . those Michigan hockey players sure can dance.
  24. That's just how we do in Jersey. One on one with Zach Parise from the Devs website
