  1. Yep. It's great if you can get it. That's probably how I'll be watching!
  2. Oh man... I'm so happy the originating post was written the way it was. For a minute there I thought I was looking at GPL. I'm calm again now. Great post, by the way!
  3. Hate to say it, but we should really be prepared to get jobbed this upcoming weekend. No way upper brass will allow a gopher-less F5. That's too bad. Could have been a really good hockey series. Unfortunately...I don't even have to say it...
  4. Someone describe what happened please. That seemed quick. Trapped with only mobileweb.
  5. Nothing irritates me more than having to work tonite., and consequently miss the webcast of the game. I'll be checking in often, though. GO SIOUX!!!!!!!
  6. I'm very irritated that I couldn't make the tournament this year, but after our performance, perhaps saving the $ was worth it. Win or lose, it's always a great weekend. Anyway...(in no particular order) 1. Seeing MN get beat by St. Cloud. Great atmosphere. 2. Hearing Woog talk about how Wheeler practiced "the shot" when I watched the replay after returning home. 3. Because Frazee had let in 2 long goals during the season, during the Championship game, a guy sitting around us yelled "Watch out Frazee!" every time a puck came near him. 4. Walking next to Mickey's with my wife, a police officer in a patrol car yelled "Down with the Sioux!" over the PA. Par for the course. 5. Bochenski's shorty to tie the game (I think in '04) 6. Anytime St. Patty's overlaps with the F5!
  7. I'm not sure how the sightlines will be. The better views may be up high, actually, as they were at the Wrigley Winter Classic this year. Our seats behind home plate (Sec 219, Row 19) were fair to poor, while the view from upstairs was perfect. Of course the football field setup will be a bit different. Still, I'd RATHER be up high than down low. Check out the (probable) setup. Although this links to a pic of a b-ball court, I'd assume a similar arrangement. I think the sightlines down low would be horrific. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...estRegional.jpg I'll probably go just because it will be easy to scam tickets, and its hockey. But I fear the 2010 FF will be a disaster...big, empty building (unless Michigan is in it).
  8. Likewise. Where are you sitting? Love the avatar, btw...
  9. I really hope they don't postpone it. The NHL "scored" making this an annual New Years Day tradition. Hopefully the weather holds at about 20-30 degrees....preferably with some snow.
  10. Regarding the seating/sightlines...anytime you set a hockey rink down in a stadium not built for it, the sightlines will invariably suck, especially for those seated down low. The best seats in Wrigley are those near first and third base (i.e. those near the corners of the rink), and then in the upper deck. A link to a webcam of the setup. if this doesn't work, the link is on the main page of the team's site. http://blackhawks.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?...=2&id=28407 In any case, it looks like it will be a great time. The NHL is supposedly setting up a neighborhood festival all around the stadium, which will be great, but it will snarl traffic on the day of the game. So if anyone is planning to go, I'd strongly suggest not even trying to drive down to Wrigley. Its hard enough to find parking at Cubs games without that "festival." The CTA Red Line drops you off 1/2 a block from the stadium, and you can get there for about $2/trip. I'm hoping to see some other Sioux fans there. I'll be in sec 219, so stop over and say hello! Go Hawks!!!
  11. Is anyone making the trip to Chicago for New Years?
  12. Two words: STUDENT athlete He is a lot of fun to watch, but academics are more important than sports. I'm sure he'll pull it together with the help of tutors and teammates, and we'll see him back on the field next year. I can't wait to see another kickoff/punt return! Go Sioux
  13. There have been many times that I've missed the old arena...especially when I witnessed an old woman reading a magazine during the Sioux/Gopher game a few years back in the new Ralph. INAPPROPRIATE!!! This was, I believe, a result of the "see and be seen" attitude that has been prevalent in the new arena. But the fact of the matter is that along with all those people simply wanting to "see and be seen", there are also more real fans that are able to come out to the game. The biggest downside of the new place (to me) is that it just doesn't get as loud as the old place. I've never heard such noise as when the Sioux would come from behind and beat the gilded rodents. I remember taping one of the televised games...when the Sioux scored the go-ahead goal you could barely hear Sweeney over all the crowd noise.
  14. My wife and I went up from Chicago to Houghton for this year's series, and Tech fans ARE awesome! We'll be going every year from here on out! MSU fans are a lot of fun to hang out with as well.
  15. I'm gonna try to make it, but I'll be busy while back in GF. Sounds like fun!
  16. I'm a fairly new Hawks fan since I recently moved to Chi-town. It seems that the team truly appreciates the fan presence that is gradually building now that they are adequately marketing the team. I expect great things in the future, especially with the new marketing director. Hopefully he can turn the city in the team's favor. The only downside...ticket prices will increase.
  17. Anyone know how to go about getting tix for the GVSU game? I'm close, so I'd like to go. Will UND get a block of tix perhaps? As for today's attendance, I'm sorry to hear about the low numbers. The Winona/UND games just don't seem to be a really big draw. I know it seems as if we always win, but c'mon...especially considering this will be the last playoff game at the Alerus for awhile. My 2 cents. Go SIOUX!
  18. Anyone have video of Pauk's hit on Bina? My tape of the incident got lost in a move. Even better would be video of Pauk getting what he's had coming for years!
  19. Hotels, food, transportation, skates, uniforms (through fundraising), etc, etc. At the F5, UND payed little to nothing. At the F4, they were allowed transportation on the bus, and allowed a few extra hotel rooms at the Red Roof Inn. Some of them had to go to the Holiday Inn (across the street, by the way), which they had to pay for out of their own pockets. An earlier poster was correct...its a college team. Cheerleaders go along with that. I don't care for the band, but...its a college team...the band is part of that. And given that, each should be funded. If the U expects the cheer team to be at the pre-game events, the should at least pay to get them there. As for the whole not-going-on-the-ice thing - that's just stupid. It is hockey. There is ice. The cheerleaders work hard to create a good atmosphere at the games. Part of that is being on the ice during intermissions and being there to greet the team as they come out onto the ice. If they bother you that much, then just leave during the intermission...problem solved. The penny-pinching by the university is just plain silly. I would bet the hockey cheerleading budget is no more than $10-11,000 for the entire season (including ice time, coaching, and limited travel). That is ONE diamond club membership. So ONE member could fund the cheerleaders for an entire year. With FSC fees going up annually, why not allocate one donation towards this small budgetary item. Also, why target only the hockey cheer team? Just a thought.
  20. I really hope that they figure out a way to make a good atmosphere at Ford Field. I watched that Lambeau game, and the despite the fact that the attendance was great, it did not appear that the setup was very good (ice in the end zone, very little to no seating outside of the regular football bleachers). It just seems to me that sightlines will be all out of whack... But I guess I'll keep an open mind about it, and I'll probably head over to Detroit. With that much seating, tickets shouldn't be too hard to get (hopefully). On another note, everyone going to STL...safe travels!
  21. Ah yes...how true. All of that Creamy Dark has done very little to slim my figure!
  22. Ahhh... I can only wish... GO SIOUX!!! Cheer loud, everyone!
  23. I think they're awesome! Very mean-looking... Maybe the boys feel mean in them, and that's why they win! Who knows. In any case, I love them. Go Sioux!
  24. Not necessarily... Many people have lived in GF for their entire lives. We bring kids up to be Sioux fans, regardless of whether or not they ultimately go to college at UND. The community involvement behind the athletics in GF is pretty amazing, compared to other places... As for travel...those who can typically do. But this is a pretty big financial investment...not usually possible for those in college or just out of college... And I don't think that travelling separates the hardcore from the "non-hardcore" fans. Many people who don't have the means to travel (or even attend games live) do everything in their power to at least see or listen to the games to cheer on the Sioux from home.
  25. Hopefully that doesn't make its way to the F4. PCM...hate to disagree w/ you, but the frat houses probably wouldn't be a bad place to start. I'm not saying that a frat did it, and I hate to point fingers, but I'm just saying... Fraternity...alcohol...campus prank... Its not too farfetched. If this is the case, no real harm was probably meant, but that's not something that you should be doing. And unfortunately, someone on campus probably is that stupid. Hope they catch them before they do something dumb(er). Also, if the thief is reading...please return it. Not cool!
