While this is surprising news for sure, I just thought I would share a thought of mine. I was driving during the Fri Gopher playoff game and I was not impressed with the range of 790. It didn't want to come in until past Valley City and even then it wasn't a strong signal. I ended up waiting until I could get 96.1 FM which that night was coming in just out of Fargo. Maybe that was a rare occurance but it seems that the night time coverage area leaves something to be disired.

This is a sad turn of events. The one thing you could say about Woog and Frank is that they truly cared about what they were doing. Not sure your gonna get that from whoever replaces them. I know a lot of Sioux fans hated them, but I think those fans were too blinded by their hatred of the gophers. Yes they did say some stuff that didn't make a lot of sense (see after the Frattin hit this year), but why those fans took it so personal is beyond me. They were also willing to critize their team at times, which is something I don't think you would see a lot of homer announcers do. It was obvious that Woog has had a problem for the last couple of years so his time was probably numbered but this still seems out of the blue. And if the reason was because Lucia was upset, I think if I were a gopher supporter that would be the nail in the coffin for the Don's tenure in Dinkytown.

Exactly. That is the part about baseball that bothers me the most. If your up by a run in the 7th with bases loaded, why bring in you third best reliever? Thats when the closer should be out. That inning is the difference in the game. Not the 9th when there is nobody on.

You are correct in that they were the first team to win the Final 5 after playing the Thurs game. However, they didn't make the frozen four last year though.

Or even Helgeson should have got 4 for continuing to go after the player as the refs were breaking it up. I love the gopher fans upset that UND fans were cheering when the player was down. They weren't cheering because of that. They were cheering because of the scrum your team started, which incidently delayed medical attention from being given to your own player.

The real problem is your lack of ability to accept that you can't control everything. People don't all have the same views on things. You don't feel that gay is an acceptable term. Fine, you are entitled to your opinion. But please don't tell others that their opinion is wrong and homophobic. They probably don't agree with you that gay is an acceptable lifestyle. But they aren't preaching to you to change your views. See the difference? Just accept that people don't see eye to eye and move on. And if you can't do that, then you are gulity of feeling enlightened by thinking that your views are correct. And that is very, very, very much up for debate.

Exactly. This isn't a sure fire NHL prospect we are talking about. Even though he is very skilled, he really doesn't fit the mold of an NHL dman. So he very well likely could end up in Europe. I think they would take a gamble on him without him having to come back for another year. If he was an NHL prospect, then coming back for another season might make more sense.

Which means we want UMD to win tonight. If UAA gets a point, they go to SCSU instead of Mankato. Though I think they would have just as good of a chance as an upset so maybe it wouldn't matter.

I'd bet the farm and the house and the dog that he won't be here next year. Just my opinion though.

I think it was the ref at the net. He decided to blow the whistle (rightly so because he couldn't see it even though the goalie didn't have it) but then as he was blowing it he saw it trickle free. So he signaled goal but it was too late. Whistle had already gone.

Most refs would have blown it dead when it was under his pads. It just looks bad because as soon as they decided to blow it dead then it came lose. I can live with that call.

I thought it was good. Not as good as people make it out to be but for its genre, its probably one of the better ones.

I want CC. They never play good at the Ralph and even when they do win, it seems we outplay them. UM has been playing better as of late. And we did split the season series from them, where we swept CC at their place. I hope we avoid the play in game as well but if we dont, it would be fun to play the Gophs in the play in. That might set attendance records for that game.

My bad. I was just thinking first round matchups. The Final 5 is crazy every year. The Sioux looked great last year coming in and absolutely layed an egg that weekend. I always come to expect the unexpected in St. Paul. But yes to answer your question, I think we could beat DU/UW. I really hope we get a crack at them.

I'm not so sure they will be. I don't see DU or UW losing. If SC ends up facing AA, they could be in trouble. If they face Mankato though, I think they will get by easily. So the top 3 could be pretty solid, which is not something that happens every year.

As someone mentioned last night, not his best series this weekend.

Good point. I had that mixed up. Thought WI went up to AA but now I remember they have the gophs so thats a little bit improssible.

Does it? A UND win and a Goph win would mean we would currently have the 4 seed and means we could cheer for UMD to sweep SCSU next week so we could get the 3rd seed.
