  1. This was my song at the last American Idol auditions. Simon Cowell found the song choice to be "too indulgent", so I was given my walking papers.
  2. I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow movin trains, and rain.
  3. I wonder if this guy will weigh in on the issue? If this thing gets legs in the media, that would bode well for us, in my opinion.
  4. W&M Logo First thoughts in my head: 1. This is madness. 2. These people must be stopped. Edit: W&M has an excellent law school, as I recall.
  5. I am galled by it as well. Concerning J-Par: If TRIOUXPER says he's gone, I'll take that to the bank. Best of luck at the next level and thanks for the memories.
  6. I know I'm reaching about the NCAA abanding, but all I'm saying is before there was a NCAA the Gophers won two other titles (1940 Championship Title Name was under the AAU and I'm not sure about the name of other one). I just don't think UND would relinquish their 7 titles if the NCAA no longer existed just like the Gophers shouldn't abanden their two titles just because they won them before there was a NCAA. If UND had won a title Pre NCAA would they claim it as a Championship title?
  7. Please help me out with who that "big names" are on the list of finalists....I don't see them. Unless there is a curveball coming (I hope so) I don't see where you're coming from.
  8. The good doctor will have an e-mail on his PC and a voicemail in his phone by Monday morning. I would encourage others to do the same. I am, I can, and he will.
  9. There are a ton of Bison sports fans that attend UND hockey games. If a D-I move is not made soon, there will be a lot more Sioux fans frequenting Fargodome, in my opinion. I-29 runs both ways. This whole thing is so frustrating....
  10. Given the list of finalists, the "meet the public" phase of this search could just as easily take place in a phone booth. I was giving everyone the benefit of the doubt up until this afternoon. Closed circuit to the search committee: If you wish to draw 800-1,000 people per game to the Betty, stay on the current course. Another thing, count me in the camp that finds it deeply troubling that Herbst is a finalist, but Craig Smith is not getting an interview.
  11. Probably a blinding glimpse of the obvious, but I've gotta believe Spoonhour's interest in the job is contingent on a future D-I move. He is also rumored to be on the mix at K-State to join Huggins as the Director of Basketball Operations.
  12. I think you need to upgrade your Flash Player.
  13. Maybe we should move down the D-III, and drop scholarships for every sport except hockey. Heck, why not privatize the University, jack up tuition and enrollment requirements, and hook up with the MIAC for all sports non-hockey. Why stop there, the university could be renamed, complete with a new moniker and logo. Voila, problems solved regarding prestige, economics, political correctness, athletics, geography, etc. University of Mary could be our new "archrival".
  14. Ask USC's Matt Lienhart how that turned out for him. April 2005, consensus #1 draft pick, stays at USC. April 2006, number 10 pick. 2005 Contracts. #1 Alex Smith 6 yrs, $49.5Million. #10 Mike Williams 5 yrs, $13.5Million. I know we're not talking these kinds of numbers for JPar, but the point is that these kids need to strike while the iron's hot. This Sioux fan will never begrudge them of that.
  15. If everyone did that, message boards like this wouldn't exist.
  16. I'm not sure where you stand on the issue, but if you passionately believe that the Fighting Sioux name and logo is something worth taking a stand on (on either side), any organization or hiring manager that would de-value your credentials based on this issue would not a fit for you from a career standpoint. Just follow your moral compass in terms of what you believe is right. You are entering the working world with a degree from one of the best schools in the country.
  17. There was a good sized alumni gathering in downtown MPLS last night, I'll leave it at that. Trust me, it's "game on".
  18. From very reliable sources, this game is happening. See 'yall in Cedar Falls. What an interesting and exciting time for Sioux athletics.
  19. Best of luck to Coach Glas. Thank you for the many years of hard work and dedication to our university and this basketball program. I had a chance to meet the man, albeit briefly, but I came away with the impression that this guy is a class act through and through. That '90-'91 team was something special...I wonder how (or if) things may have turned out differently had the big lead held up against Virginia Union. Anyway, thanks for the memories, and best of luck in Cedar Falls. I'm not sure where you're headed with this, but if it's a shot at Buning, it's unwarranted. Change is the only certainty in life. Bollinger was a finalist for the AD job, was probably qualified, it didn't go his way, thus he took a leadership position elsewhere after reporting to the guy he was competing against. Seems like the natural order of things to me. As for Coach Glas, 18 years at the same job in this day and age is unheard of. Sometimes a situation just gets stale for everyone concerned, whether it takes 2 years or 20 years. Change for changes sake isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  20. Favorites from the Walsh Hall days: Parent, Davidson, Bobyck, Belfour, Baron, etc. Favorite Minnesota recruits from the Blaiser era: DeFauw, Armbrust, Henderson, Goehring
  21. While I would add Denver and possibly CC to the list of tradition-rich flagship schools, I basically agree with what you're saying.
  22. More old time hockey. Is it October yet?
  23. It's been beat to death, but it was the best weekend of college hockey I've had the chance to watch live, bar none. When Duncan and Oshie made it 2-0 over Michigan, that place was electric.

    NHL draft news

I was thinking the same thing. On another note, were the Sioux ever in the mix for the Sneep kid from Brainerd? For as high as he is on the list, I don't remember a lot of chatter about him. I believe he committed to BC.
