I think Walrus might be right. Wrestling was the last one for NDSU in spring of 2001 I think. Speaking of wrestling, it's too bad that the UND program got scrapped due to Title IX.

In NDSU's case, a watered down Division II certainly didn't translate into better results in the trophy case. NDSU's lack of results on the field of play, along with UND's run of success on a national stage in hockey, football, WBB, etc. in the late 90's and early 00's definitely put the spotlight in Grand Forks. To his credit, Chapman recognized this and the rest is history.

Now I've got ya'. Except for the "standby for a gift from Standing Rock" part. Hey, if it's a million bucks of the casino money to pay for the REA retrofit then by all means send it over.

I won't speak on behalf of 82SiouxGuy because he can articulate it better than I can, but here are my thoughts. After years and years of fighting this, it's in the best interests of UND as a whole to drop the nickname and move forward at this time. I take no pleasure or joy in this, but it is the reality. I guess you could say in the "five stages of grief", I'm in the acceptance mode.

They're really gonna miss this guy on rollout plays.
