I don't think the opportunity cost of lost merchandising is going to be that much after the first year or so. So I would say Texas Tech+Fresno State+San Diego State+(insert team here) > lost sales of apparel.

Nice slate of games, I'm envious of the 2011 trip to Madison. If UND could ever get that put together with a couple of hockey games at Kohl Center the same weekend...that would be one for the books.

You seem to evaluate college athletics and professional sports through the same lens. That is your opinion and you certainly have the right to it. I'm guessing you didn't attend classes or graduate from UND...I may be wrong but that's the sense I get. There would be more of an emotional investment there if you had.

The safe play would be to have it inside of the North Dakota shape. However, I really like it "standalone" in Big A HG's mock up.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about people that donate major cash to UND. It is obviously a divisive issue amongst the general public already.

We're going to see what Kelley is made of from a leadership perspective, because this thing has the potential to become divisive beyond belief, and I'm pretty concerned about it.

That doesn't lessen the student-athlete's experience at UND, in my opinion. The Dakota flagships, the Montana flagships, Western Illinois, Oral Roberts, Southern Utah, etc. makes for a far more attractive schedule for the fans and athletes than the likes of Minot State, MSU-Moorhead, and Winona State. To me it's about competing with peer schools and it should have been a complete no brainer once Northern Colorado started the dominos rolling.

I agree with you on timing and there are many that felt the same way. Kupchella had a bad experience with D-I at a prior job and it clouded his thinking, IMO.

I know you love this University as much as anyone here. But after reading that, all I can say is that I'm glad you're not amongst those calling the shots on this one. Who are the opponents filling the Betty now? What exactly is the carrot we are holding out for? Get the referendum at Standing Rock, win it, retire the name with grace, and move forward.
