Based upon a Gigli tweet, I'm thinking Oliveira may have committed to UND today. Also, Carl Engwall has reportedly committed to UND. EDIT: Both commitments have been confirmed by SFI.

No personal attacks, defamation or libel. No trolling. These are just a couple of the rules that seem to be broken repeatedly by certain posters, particularly in this thread. Does anybody actually get banned anymore? Some of these threads are virtually unreadable, even if a person does have the usual offenders on the "ignore" list, since their posts keep getting quoted. And yes, I understand that attempting to read anything in a thread with "NDSU" or "Bison" in the title is an "enter at your own risk" situation, but this nonsense is getting prevalent in a lot of other threads, too. It's getting really old.

UND opens as a 23-point underdog, per SFI.
-
Per Tom Miller, true freshman Jacob Francis is taking snaps at center with the number one OL today.
-
Per SFI, UND is still awaiting word from the NCAA clearinghouse regarding Hannible.

I am just hoping for at least one starter who either was not on the roster last year, or who red-shirted. I like Anderson and Barton, but I'm not sure it's realistic to expect to put together a solid starting o-line from just incumbents and converted defensive linemen.
-
It would be pretty surprising if Henson could crack the starting lineup as a fifth-year senior who hasn't played OL in a game since high school.
-
Her name was Lori Knetter. I don't remember her as a player, and I don't know exactly when she played.

Based upon a Kevin Maurice tweet, somebody from Louisville has apparently committed to UND today, although I don't know whether it's a last-minute addition to the 2014 class, or an early 2015 commit.

Not yet confirmed, but SFI tweeted that this guy may be headed to UND: http://cjonline.com/...e-will-transfer

I will speculate that a big part of the difference is the fact that you can almost count on a Fargo team being in the AAA championship game virtually every year, generally against Bismarck High. Aside from GFC in 1996, 2004 and 2005, GF schools just haven't had much success in football in the past 25 years or so. And without that local team in the title game, attendance is bound to suffer. With regard to the other classes (9-man, A and AA), I doubt the difference in attendance between the two venues is very large, but I have no numbers to back that up.
-
I have to think Anderson may be the best option at this point. I wonder who was the last true freshman OL to play? Maybe Chuck Clairmont? That was about 30 years ago. But given the current lack of numbers, it may have to happen this year.
-
Sounds like Grady from New Town has committed to UND.
-
I remember a Bryan Smeltzer from Devils Lake who played at UND in the 1980's. I assume Jake may be a relative?

Gprep has Boike ranked 16th among Minnesota class of 2015 prospects. UND recruit Jill Morton is ranked 19th. http://gprep.net

The new addition is 6'2", 195 Miguel Cerriteno from Feather River College. Per SFI, he had an offer from Sac. St., and serious interest from Hawaii and Eastern Michigan.

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but does anybody know whether Johannesson's (sp?) dad is from Edinburg? There was a guy with the same name who was a high school basketball teammate of Scott Guldseth. Just curious.

Klabo has committed to UND per Wayne Nelson.

I think the limit is 30 per year, not including walk-ons. This is from bylaw 15.5.6.2 of the NCAA division I manual.

UND had several excellent Canadian players in the 1990's, such as Tim Prinsen, Kevin Robson, Greg Lotysz, Scott Schultz, Mike Juhasz and Dwayne Ell, among others. For whatever reason, the pipeline has seemingly dried up in recent years.

That's the thing I just can't understand. Some have offered excuses for Muss, but it's the current state of the OL, and really the state of the OL the past few years, that's the most compelling argument as to why he had to go. There's just no good excuse for the total rebuilding job he left considering this is his alleged area of expertise.
-
So right now UND has nine OL, and of that group one is a senior who has been a NG prior to this spring, three are redshirt freshmen who have not played a down yet, and another is coming off an entire season lost to very serious illness. Count me as unsurprised that things are not looking good right now. And as much as I realize it doesn't help matters to do so, I am having a hard time not being ticked off at the previous regime for leaving the cupboard this bare.

Minot St. didn't take long to hire a new coach: http://coachingsearc...-State-28223705 Interestingly, Hughes had just accepted the head coaching job at Southern Virginia last month.
