  1. That's certainly a valid point, but with BSU's resources, has he already hit the ceiling for what can realistically be accomplished? I'm thinking that's a distinct possibility. With UND's facilities and spending an amount on women's hockey pretty similar to what Minnesota and Wisconsin do, coaching at UND could give him a realistic shot at a title. Whether that and at least somewhat of a pay raise would win out over coaching at his alma mater, I don't know.
  2. Sounds like Wanzek is getting at least a partial scholarship. It also sounds like he has an intriguing skill set--maybe a more physical Travis Lueck-type player--in that he has very good height, leaping ability and is faster than one would expect?
  3. It could be that all the scholarships were already committed for next year. I know they have a very large class coming in. Or maybe Walseth just wasn't convinced Johnson was going to be fully recovered from her surgeries. Not really sure.
  4. I wonder if Brewster would consider bringing Holly Johnson in for one year?: http://www.wday.com/sports/collegiate/3930231-holly-johnson-leaves-ndsu-basketball-program
  5. Apparently UND is talking to Siman Sem from Fargo North: http://www.inforum.com/sports/3929094-mix-norths-siman-sem-goes-back-ndsu-commitment-broadens-his-options
  6. I certainly can't discount the fact that the budget hasn't been where it should be, but in the case of Ahelegbe, I can't help but wonder whether the move had a lot to do with feeling Smith would give him a better chance of moving up the coaching ladder, similar to the lateral move Ben Jacobson made when he first left UND?
  7. I guess any win is a good win at this point, but you won't win often shooting 29% from the field.
  8. But if Bohl couldn't get a better job than Wyoming, who is to say Klieman can? Or was it more Bohl's past personal issues that prevented him from getting a better job?
  9. Just speculating, but does the fact that Bohl has tanked so far hurt Klieman's FBS job prospects?
  10. I thought production from the center position would be one of the biggest problems this year, but collectively Roscoe and Smith are averaging about 13 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game. The fact that the team is consistently losing despite these somewhat unexpected contributions is surprising and disappointing.
  11. Coming into the second Montana game last season, UND was 16-7 overall and just a game out of first place. Since that game, UND is 5-18.
  12. UND has now lost its last 14 games in a row away from the Betty--12 on the road and two at neutral sites.
  13. Not a player defection, but assistant coach Marty Rodgers is leaving to go back to his alma mater--Southern Illinois.
  14. There are reports that Nielson held a team meeting on Friday, to inform his players he had turned down USD's offer.
  15. This has been discussed ad nauseam, but what UND has heretofore been willing to spend with Jones at the helm should not be confused with what it is capable of spending with a different, and better coach.
  16. Walthall and MSU-Moorhead moved to 12-1 with a win over UMD tonight.
  17. Per Tom Miller, Tobin has committed to UND.
  18. 6. Plus 9 points and 11 boards. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a triple-double or two this year.
  19. UND wins 71-54.
  20. UND up 59-44 after three quarters.
  21. UND up 38-24 at the half over NDSU. A big second quarter for the home team after being down 2 at the end of the first quarter.
  22. Of UND's top nine scorers right now, only Hooker played in last year's NDSU game. It's pretty incredible how dramatically UND's roster has changed for the second year in a row.
  23. Clearly UND late season was far better than UND early season. Of course, I guess you could say the same for USD, at least until the Illinois St. game. Looking forward to the Sept. 17 matchup. Traditionally, USD has done quite poorly when playing in Grand Forks.
  24. This is what SFI had to say about recruiting and the quarterback situation:
  25. USD looked good at times, and awful at times. I saw them play Youngstown St. in Vermillion, and USD couldn't seem to do anything right. They did have a really nice five-game stretch, but then laid an egg at Illinois St. to finish the season, losing 46-0. Losing at Illinois St. is no shame, but losing that badly isn't exactly the way you want to head into the off season.
