  1. Hatton, always liked that town (not sure why), otherwise Bismarck, town/city has a lot going for it.
  2. IF, UND has to change it's name, why would it want to keep the logo? Unless from a money aspect, they wouldn't have to pay to remove the logo, but if it gets to that point, I think it will be all (nickname and logo) that would go.
  3. My thoughts when I read the AG's article..........................fine, but the damage was done. It's kind of like in a court room when a lawyer says something, the other lawyer objects and it is sustained and stricken from the record, but, mission accomplished, the jury heard it.
  4. Let me start off by stating that I am a non-smoker. As to the campus wide smoking ban that President Cupchella would like to see implemented, I actually think that might be a little to much. The campus already has a no smoking policy in effect for all buildings and what? within 20 feet of all doors right? To have the ban also include all campus grounds, to me is a little extreme..............just my opinion. Also, on a somewhat related note, with UND wanting to increase their enrollment, I think making the entire campus smoke free would hurt that, maybe to the degree of a downward turn such as it did with the higher academic standards.
  5. It sounds like if you don't have a parking pass, then riding a bus say from Rumors, The Bun, Southgate etc. is the next best thing. I have a parking pass, but have ridden the buses a couple of times from different establishments over the years and it went over good. The only thing I don't like about riding the buses is that they get you there right before the drop of the puck and we like getting there earlier. Hope this parking thing doesn't get to ugly.

    Coaches Poll

I'll claim memory loss here....................where were the Sioux picked to finish in last years coaches poll? Just curious.
  7. Well, yes and no. Yes it would be nice to have a link to this site so we could get up to date info on the progress of the case, but, if that happened where we can get up to date info on the case, then so could others, namely "the other side". Not sure if they (NCAA) keeps tabs on UND since the name issue started and the pending lawsuit, but, that doesn't mean "somebody" couldn't bring them to light on the site either in an attempt to hurt UND's fight to keep the name. I guess I would rather be left in the dark as far as the progress of the case than to post anything that could help the NCAA in any way.
  8. Weren't they at one time talking about putting a couple of student housing highrises on the Bronson property? But then said that they didn't want any buildings put up that would take away from the REA? As for a hotel going up by or close to the REA, with room being an issue, they would (or you would think) have to make that a highrise type hotel. Guess we'll wait and see.
  9. Haven't heard to many good things about the women's hockey coach over the years, to bad, everybody had high hopes/expectations when she first came here a few years back. This is her last season at UND? I hadn't heard that. If indeed it is her last season, whoever takes over the coaching job, I hope they can turn the program around. The better the team, the more the wins............the more the wins, the higher the attendance etc etc.
  10. I actually would have liked for the whole NCC to turn into a DI conference, they would have needed 6 of the schools to commit. the issue of conference affiliation would have been addressed for the schools and travel for the most part wouldn't have changed, which would have helped the financing issue. But, I also realize that the new conference would have had to wait years for an auto bid in sports which I know is big.
  11. Sounds like a reaccrediting with conditions, even though UND was reaccredited.
  12. When I read Monday's GF Herald Editorial page, main topic "Don't bet on Division I for UND" I said to my wife..........."Written like a true NDSU grad/fan" Well, as it turns out (no surprise) I was right. The author, Jerome Hatlewick aka "kchats" is an frequent poster in bisonville. www.bisonville.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1158290953/105#105 It's not to hard to see that "some" NDSU faithful would like nothing more than for UND to fail in it's attempt to go DI. In my opinion, what this letter was intended to do, was to throw up a hurdle and try make trouble in the UND camp (so to speak) in it's move up and nothing more.
  13. Well, Not to make an issue out of this, but unless I'm missing something here, you can never get an actual attendance figure at the Alerus Center then because UND reports the attendance number and they only have control over the bowl seats and not the suites, standing room only, ADA risers etc. Therefore, the attendance that has been posted at games thus far is just the bowl attendance.
  14. Just what is the seating capacity at the Alerus Center for football? It was always stated that it sat 13,500 for football, but some of the games of past (NDSU and Cal Davis for example) I questioned their count, it seemed pretty well packed and they came up with like 12,200 or something like that for the attendance. Within the last few months it has come up that the Alerus Center only seats around 12,300 or so, whether thats true or not I don't know. Yesterday's Potato Bowl Game they say drew 10,333. I was at the game and yes, there was sparse seating in the corner/ends, but 3,200 empty seats in the place? Didn't look like it to me. Anyways, I'm asking out of curiousity, I'd like to know.
  15. Interesting. Kinda points out their "What's in it for us?" way of thinking and how their opinion/approval changes depending on it. Good post.
  16. Well, this news certainly isn't going to go over to well at bisonville! I figured eventually the rivalry would start up again, but I'm a little surprised it might be as early as 2008. I mentioned this news to a co-worker (avid Bison fan) and it didn't go over to well to say the least, he broke out into an anti Sioux chant (bison thing) which I of course countered with an anti Bison chant (Sioux thing)...............little juvenile on both our parts, but it was all in good fun...............I think!
  17. Met and visited with the man once, had a good conversation with him. He definately has his hands full, but i'm confident he'll do a good job........................hope he sticks around for a while.
  18. A UNI fan who was at the game stated on anygivensaturday.com that of the 11,000 fans at the game about 1,000 of them were UND fans, so now I've heard from 200 to 1,000 UND fans at the game, anyone know for sure? Just curious as to UND's showing.
  19. Thanks for the words/praise and welcome to Sioux Sports
  20. Doesn't sound good right now for the NCC or Roger Thomas
  21. Not sure what Montana was ranked, but I beleive they were right up there too. This win over Northern Iowa is as big to us as NDSU's win was against Montana. Good showing on both North Dakota schools.
  22. Thank you for the kind words/praise.................we did have to earn them though didn't we? I agree with you on the big sky back in the 70's and remember what they said to the North Dakota schools........."It's either both of you or neither of you"
