  1. I appreciate a lot of the information and excitement that is shared on the boards, but I
  2. Pretty misguided and headed off the deep end here pallie. Did someone tell you he's the only one who does this and you jumped at it as gospel? Keep watching for goalies with their masks on during anthems...lots of them do it...Americans, Canadians, what have you. Goalies are freaks of nature, superstitous bastards, head-cases, have their own rhythm, whatever you want to call it. Roy keeps his on for our anthem and for 'Oh, Canada' too.
  3. A bit more on the Wild's D----- Minnesota's top defender, Brad Bombardir, practiced Monday but won't be able to play in Game 1 because of a back injury that's kept him out since Feb. 26. His agility isn't quite there yet. ''I want to get out there,'' he said, ''but if you can't help the team, you have to be honest with yourself.'' ... Andrei Zyuzin's light groin pull Sunday suddenly made the defense a little thin, but Zyuzin -- though he didn't practice Monday -- will be back for practice Tuesday, Lemaire said. ...
  4. Rather, the primary implication being that Murph will likely get minutes in the playoff series against the Avs irrespective of whether we win the series.
  5. I don't see this topic posted, but noticed the articles yesterday. Looks like Murphy may get some minutes--and seems to mean they're not expecting Bombardir back at least for the Avs series. http://www.wild.com/index.cfm?section=main...&cont_id=174503 http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/1856963
  6. For the most part, Vikings fans root against the Packers in the playoffs. I understand that the hockey allegiences/dynamic is a little different, but I don't think Sioux fans should be 'shamed' for rooting against the Gophers. I rooted for them to win last years' Championship and even got tickets to the X to watch the win, but no way will I root for them this year. It was hard enough listening to so many of them over the last year--it would be unbearable if they repeat. The Gophers, though, look WAY good. I think hot goaltending and solid D are the only way to beat them. Montoya, Ayers, and LeNeveu all have the potential to stand on their heads. I think Cornell has the D/tending to beat the Gophs.
  7. The weatherdope I listened to the other day said we may get 'a couple inches'...if its 8-12" its going to be so bad it will be funny. Those Kentuckians will NEVER come back here!
  8. Dagies, Hrkac, Fisheagle, the Farce. Check your email and or email me--I'm heading to a lunch meeting, but need to get the ticket deal ironed out. Sounds like we got them: dschaibley@hotmail.com
  9. Does anyone still need tickets?
  10. I think the Sioux overacheived this year. I picked them to finish 5th in the WCHA...primarily because of their lack of Junior/Senior leadership. Getting an NCAA bid would be more than I expected. Sure, the way they finished out the last half of the season wasn't thrilling, but I'll take it. Next year, with a great set of Sophomores/Juniors as the core, playoff experience under their belt, and surely more sound goaltending, these guys will make a serious run. AND they're not done with this year yet!
  11. They have the right to deny camera use as they see fit, but not the authority to keep your personal property for violating their internal policies. You could get your camera back if they threatened to or tried to keep it. You might/could face other punishments though, such as a snakeburn on your wrist (or restrictions on ability to purchase/attend events at the X).
  12. Forecheck...are you the blond that I got the ticket for when the Sioux played at Mariucci.....and we met at Sterbs with matching Gopher fans tagging along?
  13. This based on first hand experience at the recent Devils/Wild game--a friend of mine brought her camera/gear: You can bring in cameras...but not the long detachable lenses (I am SO not a camera user, so don't hammer me for not knowing a shutter from a nutterbutter) that allow for close ups. They'll look into your camera bag and if its too big of a lens, you have to go to the Customer Service area and check it. Pain in the arse if you're in a hurry. Also, if your bag is 'too big', ie gets anywhere near the size of a backpack, you're asking for trouble.
  14. The favorite goal I saw in person was Massen's Saturday night OT game winner at SCSU.
  15. The last building on west 7th would probably the Taco Bell as you head out to the Airport. Don't do that! Mancini's is a great place, especially if you want a good meal instead of bar food before the game...and it will be busy, but not shoulder to shoulder like the rest of the places closer to the X. Its about 4ish blocks west of Tom Reid's...past Grand Seven...on the right. I'll likely be working most of the day, but plan on walking over to McGovern's for a couple pints before the game.
  16. Last night, 2 goals and an assist for Blake! This description sounds more and more like the type of goals we used to see him score while at UND. Blake tied the game 2-2 in the second period with his 23rd goal. Steve Staios blocked Blake's cross-ice pass at center, but Blake picked up the rebound, raced down the left side, dodged a sprawling Jason Smith, circled the net and beat goalie Tommy Salo to the top left corner. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=230313006
  17. Another Fast Eddie running for Governor? All I can say is, get this guy off my side. http://www.bismarcktribune.com/articles/20...state/sta01.txt
  18. Maybe he'll do an 'in-store' at one of the Subways....can somebody get me his autograph?
  19. I sit at Mariucci all weekend hoping to see the Badgers to get at least a point, and watch their $hitty scoreboard updates praying for Alaska to get a point or two off Kato, for UND to get at least a split, and for St. Cloud to come away from their CC series with fewer points than the Sioux get in Denver. Prediction: I shall be disappointed for the most part.
  20. You're not realizing that the DECC has many hotel's near it was an example of you picking on me? ......I'm glad I missed that jab I lest I lose some sleep.
  21. Explain the DECC??? Many have tried, few have succeeded. Hotel-wise...though none are connected, plenty are RIGHT there. The DECC has the Canal Park Inn, Canal Park Comfort Inn, Canal Park Hampton, and probably more, but that's all I can think of right now. And then there is the attraction of Canal Park itself. I never said the Alerus should have a 'connected' hotel, but adjacent ones...adjacent meaning 'next to' so that Center to Hotel access is quick and easy. Btw, I'm all for Mom and Pop hotels. I stay at East Grand's palacial Plaza Hotel every time I go back....and most certainly not because its the swankiest place, but b/c the same Mom and Pop remember us, smile, and tell us the weather hasn't changed since my last visit, everytime I show up. Nonetheless, I don't believe the CANAD should be stopped from entering the market. Other tax credits could be worked out to assist smaller businesses survive with the introduction of s/t like CANAD. I certainly don't think its fair that new businesses--or post 97s as they seem to be thought of--should get all the tax benefits/tax free years/land, whatever incentives are thrown out there.
