Hilarious! I don't like the freshmen getting cocky so early in the season, though. Hopefully their attitudes in the classroom don't transfer to the ice.

Come on DamStrait. He was obviously going to put "Sioux Sparkle" on his jersey.
-
Nice kr. I was wondering if anyone would catch that.

I don't think there was an AR there. The tape replay (and from what I remember at the game) just shows Schmitt happened to be right next to them, and when he put out an arm to separate Lundblom and Hirsch he just whipped himself away. I don't know that he actually hit Schmitt, but it was a rather violent gesture and I would assume there were some choice words that went along with it. No reason for a suspension.

No surprise there, but I also thought that Matt Jones would be a pretty good choice for defensive player of the week with 3 goals on the weekend and a cumulative +9 rating for the season. I see that he was nominated at least.

I agree 100% about Canady. He had an amazing weekend, and is looking like one of the best penalty killers out there for the Sioux. Very aggressive. I hope he can stay in the lineup. It's always fun to read your view of the games, jk. You obviously know a lot about the game.

Personally, I like these better. Much more authentic. (If I weren't computarded I would be able to come up with a better picture. ) Bochenski Bucks Courtesy of the St. Cloud fans behind the Sioux penalty box 2001-2002.

Hmmmm....nice body.....not much hair, though....I'd say if he grew his hair out a good 13 inches or so, he'd have the whole package going for him. Just don't tell the Wookie, I still haven't given up hope on him!! I think it's just great how you guys are trying to help me through these hard times with the Wookie by finding me new prospects. Vanek's hair, Superman. Your hard work does not go unappreciated.

Like everyone else around me, I skimmed the love note that I can only assume student government wrote/was asked to write and filed it in its proper location, along with little bits of chewed up, spit out Siouxper dog weinies and poopy diapers. Like I said before, it basically was an "I love you, but" note. It said something to the effect of how great the season has been going so far, and how the students are doing better but there is still room for improvement. Students can stand up and cheer whenever they want, but that does not include standing up for entire power plays. Basically, we can stand up whenever we want as long as we sit right back down again. Personally, I think this weekend the entire student body should collectively stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down, etc. during the entire 2:00 of a power play. A.)The students would be standing up to cheer during the power play, B.) The students would be sitting down immediately after standing up, and C.) The students would look awfully silly bouncing up and down out of their seats during a power play, which will distract the PK unit and drastically improve the Sioux PP. Everyone wins!

Just for clarification, YaneA joins me as a minority female poster on this board.
-
YaneA, I think I have just about all the signs from this weekend if you want to somehow salvage the posterboard.

Check with REA Wednesday afternoon to see if there are any student tickets left over. If there are, then you can buy tickets at 10:00 Thursday morning at the Ralph. Tickets were left over for the Gopher series, so chances are there will be some left over this weekend as well.

Diggler, I agree. If anything, I think a lot of students are being overly cautious about standing up at times because they're afraid of losing their seats, which results in half of the students standing up and trying to get the crowd to cheer on a Sioux PP, and the other half of the students looking around for lurking security as they sit down because they aren't sure if they can stand up and cheer during a power play. I think it was on USCHO where someone said that the crowd has been louder on Friday nights than Saturday nights recently, and that the team seems to thrive when the crowd is at its loudest. Anyone who has been to those Friday night games against Boston and Minnesota know what I'm talking about, because you can feel the electricity in the building. It's almost like having a 6th skater on the ice. Hell, even Tyler Hirsch said in an interview between periods on Friday night that the players get nervous at first when they hear the fans and that they have to settle down and just play the game. I think the students have made tremendous strides in working with REA and season ticket holders. Instead of getting stupid notes that say "I love you, but..." how about just acknowledging that the students are maturing and being more respectful of those around them. It's almost getting ridiculous. Thank you to the season ticket holders who still continue to support the student section. It's people like you who probably keep the students from saying screw it and go back to standing during the entire game.

Zach is the puck king! I swear he gets everyone's first goals for them!
-
The Rubberneckers or Rubberneck Line? I'm just thinking of when people drive by accidents on the road and you see them looking back (rubbernecking) to see what happened. I'd say with the speed and skill on this line, they cause a LOT of rubbernecking to happen on the ice.
-
Vanek comes to mind when I read those quotes. I believe it was Zach's first goal (the 2nd of the game) where The Line was busting into the Gopher zone and I watched as Vanek lazily sat back near the Sioux blue line like he was waiting for the Gopher defensemen to take care of business and get the puck to him. I didn't see him backcheck all night long. You have to be a 2-way player, and I didn't see it from him last night.

I tried to get the Bulldog rejects chant going. Thought it was hilarious. Not too many other people got it.
-
Sorry, I had like 5 signs and never held that one up. Look for it Saturday.
-
How about going to the Meet the Sioux Hockey Team at the beginning of the season?
-
No they weren't. I went this morning and bought 5 tickets for a family for Saturday night, the same family whose tickets ended up being cancelled by Ticketmaster. Tickets were available both nights. When I asked the girl how many ended up being left over, she said not very many, Saturday night there were only a couple hundred. Don't know how many were left over for Friday night, but I was shocked that there were any left over. Pathetic.
-
Whatever you decide. My only stipulation is that I get the crappy one. Wookie Jr? Nah, I wouldn't be offended. Of course, he has nothing on the original Wookie, but at least he's trying.
-
Gee I dWon't Pknow wOho coulSd have gotten me juiced!
-
How come no one told me?! CRR, I have no sense of humor. None.
-
Quid pro quo then. Some Gopher fans got me juiced up before the championship game. I suck at beer darts. I'm sure I'll be there again this year. Who wants to go to Cancun for spring break??
