Holy crap Goon, we agree! Now let's just see how this team responds to the pressure.
-
I'm intending on getting fully reimbursed, so that's up to everyone else. Although I don't think it should be a problem since that will only be $1 more per person.

It's my opinion, and obviously that of others here, that the announcer is starting to speak WAY too much during play. Between plays, fine. But there were plenty of times this weekend when he started talking between plays, continued right through play, and was still speaking by the next whistle. It has most definitely increased. For crying in the beer, when I wore that stupid McDonald's costume during the Alaska series, Russ the guard told me that some other security guys were discussing over their walkie talkies whether or not they should make me take it off because McDonald's is not a sponsor at REA. But someone else told them to let me wear it because REA was in the process of trying to get McDonald's on board. So don't tell me that advertising during the games hasn't gotten out of hand. But of course, since you "rolled your eyes" and obviously think Hennen speaks the perfect amount during the game, I'm wrong. And so are you Sicatoka, and Redwing, and MinnesotaNorthStar, and jloos....

Yes, but it is getting absolutely ridiculous. Of course someone tells him to say all the crap he does, but they need to re-evaluate the importance of all of those announcements. The music seemed to be blasting louder than normal last weekend, and I don't know how many times I found myself muttering "shut up already Hennen." I vowed to bring a sign that said just that for the Tech series. At the beginning of the season, I thought the Gopher fans were crazy for thinking our announcer was annoying. I love his enthusiasm when he announces the starting lineup and goals. I'm beginning to see otherwise, though.
-
OR they get fired up to prove everyone wrong and become more determined to sweep in Mankato. Different coaching styles work for different players. I think Blais's comments tonight are more aimed at trying to keep the fans' expectations at a reasonable level than voicing his goals.

So far this is the roster: jk mksioux 747guy Fire Chartreuse Musky Killer and friend bacardio Kirk MinnesotaNorthStar Goalie: stuckinfargo I emailed the two guys who said they weren't sure if they could play or not. If anyone knows someone who would like to play for the good guys on the Sunday after the Final Five, let me know. Redwing, let me know if your friend can play. We need to get the ice reserved, so the sooner the better. After paying my bills today, I'm just hoping I'll have enough money to cover the Sioux team temporarily.

I'm planning on going to the games, but I'm holding out in hopes of getting tickets the day of the game. I refuse to support Ticket Master.
-
I must have missed it then.
-
I don't know if anyone saw it, but one student had a sign that said "We swear because we care," with a bunch of hearts on it. Not surprisingly he didn't get on the big screen, but I laughed.
-
And I have his broken stick. Well, half of it. I gave the other half to my friend.
-
I bought a black Gemini jersey when they first came out, but the lettering is white. The only thing I don't like about these jerseys is that the material snags so easily.

There's a Hole in my Bucket I used to love this song when I was a kid.

I was in California visiting my nephews during that series, so I have no opinion. I do agree that the Denver series was electrifying, but my whole point with that statment was that you telling him that his subjective experience was flat out wrong sounds as stubborn as the students who will tell you that they won't stop swearing because it's tradition/their right/etc. I'm not disagreeing with you, just the way you're wording your statements, because I do think that Mory00 has a point also. But let me ask you this: Would you behave the same way if your grandmother was sitting next to you? - Sicatoka I won't lie to you, I behaved the exact same way when my mom and 37 year old sister sat next to me during the St. Cloud series as I did any other time. They knew what they were getting into if I snuck them into the lower bowl student section, and dare I say, they had fun. Again, I agree things need to change. I just believe that instead of acting accusatory, the administration would get farther much faster if they worked with the students.
-
Well now, you can't call his opinion "not true" when it is entirely subjective. I agree that something needs to change and it can only start with the students. However, I think Lawkota made some excellent points earlier. If the students are treated like adults, they will respond as adults. I think RT is a class act athletic director, and when standing was an issue 2 years ago he personally took time to meet with students once a week to come up with solutions. He treated us like adults, even though most of us showed up to the meeting with a closed mind. (A few of the "Green Hairem" guys stood up the entire time RT was talking, complete with hockey jerseys and wigs, to show him how it does indeed intimidate a person.) Now, the students' ideas for increased atmosphere were experimented with for about 1-2 series and disappeared, but they were at least given some consideration. As people quickly found out though, new traditions will take time, more than 1-2 series. The athletic department and REA officials definitely need to work with the students if they want to truly turn the atmosphere around into a positive direction. Also, the administration, Kupchella, or the powers that be at UND, should be taking some responsibility for the behavior that has been allowed to go on at hockey games for centuries. Not all of the responsibility obviously, since we are all adults. But some. An employee's job performance is a reflection of the leadership he/she receives. If a team is losing, the coach is fired and a new one is hired. Just as people pointed out last weekend that Blais et al should be taking some responsibility for the Friday night noss and not place the blame entirely on Brandt, I believe Kupchella should take responsibility for the behavior present at games. Berating the students publicly before somehow addressing the issue with them first seems a bit harsh.

I actually thought of this before the Wisconsin series, and was wishing that the Sioux had one of their mandatory week long breaks around now. The hockey season is long, and starting a new semester with new classes can add some extra stress to the pressure of playing up to Sioux fans'/players' standards. I can't imagine what it takes to be a student athlete when I think of how stressed I get at times in my program. A week off would probably be good for these guys to avoid burn out.
-
Sarcasm at its best. This seems like a popular thing to do lately, and it would be great if a majority of students followed along.
-
The only person who comes to mind is YaneA. She's no doubt spent quite a bit of time and money on those signs. Or maybe you'd like to go thrift store shopping for some cheerleader uniforms for Diggler. I personally don't like the idea of everyone holding newspapers during lineups. I'd rather yell something at the players. I actually thought YaneA's idea "Who's he? A fine fellow I'm sure," was funny, although probably too long to yell after each person's name. I like sarcasm. However, it's going to take a long time I think before anything new/different catches on, if at all.
-
I think we all know who my vote would go to. There should be an "other" category. And SFiP, the answer to your question is almost. YaneA is of the female type.
-
Unfortunately, I'll be rooting for the Gophers, and then washing my mouth out with antibacterial soap later.
-
And I'm off to the bar. This series has driven me to drink.
-
I agree, I can't believe Brandt got burned like that in the Herald. There were a couple times during the game where I thought the puck was going in the net with point blank shots, but was pleasantly surprised when I realized that Brandt had made the save. He certainly made a mistake playing the puck, but how many people think that JPar would have done the same thing? JPar loves to play the puck even more than Brandt. But after the loss, the only thing I could think of was why was Smaby playing with Jones during overtime? Why was he playing at all during overtime? He hasn't struck me as a very solid defenseman yet in the WCHA. He is a freshman and makes freshman mistakes. I'm wondering why Greene wasn't on the ice, who we know loves to take the body. I think Blais was talking with his emotions last night, and picked out Brandt as a scapegoat.
-
Eh, probably not with the student section anyway. The students still had leftover tickets for the Gopher series in November because of a 3-day weekend and an Alabama (I think) concert. It will be full, but probably still only in the 10,000 range. As for the sign, I don't know, maybe I have a heart on for Cox? Bradyn Cox that is. CC Roster It should probably be someone who will definitely play, but just pick one. On a totally unrelated note, Colin Stuart looks like Ben Affleck.
-
That was actually pretty funny! You know me, anyone with shaggy hair will give me a heart on. I believe the security guard wanted an illustration of a hockey stick with the phrase "[hockey player] swings both ways." He's awsome.
