Do you work in politics or have you just had your head in the sand. You want to play semantics fine, it's been well reported by the media that kupchella has said he would only be interested in a move up if a conference invite was in the works. No conference before equals no move. Now he's reconsidering "maybe" and your already doing your best at backpeddling away from that comment as you now know how foolish it was. Nice try but that dog won't hunt.
-
Now there's a brilliant retort. I could care a less, but with so many sioux fans posting on Bisonville I do occassionally like to come over here and see all the squawking and backpeddling as your president tries to decide what to do. Besides its easy to tell that your still around Both NDSU and SDSU can feel you guys riding our coat tails trying to get to DI
-
Money or not, it was previously stated that UND would not make the move up without a confernce invite in hand. With that being said and what happened on Tuesday (or what didn't happen) should pretty much tell you what his (kupchella) decision will be. Unless he's come to the realization that you will have to declare before any conference will take you seriously your future for now anyway is in DII. No smack just stating the facts. Reading this thread one could ask the question why isn't he making the decision but based on your own study's and research it would appear the majority don't want the move up or are not in favor of it (at least not without conference affiliation which has already been addressed) so I don't think its the end of the world as many on here make it sound. Many faculty and fans appear to be happy with DII up there and there is nothing wrong with that, the majority should be heard.

Ignorance is bliss apparently
-
Why, is someone supposed to be donating money again? Or did the city come up with another way to scam fema and distribute the funds to UND?
-
Wyo you have to remember the source. The truth of the matter is not only was this a letdown for us NDSU fans but for those Sioux fans hoping for DI after yesterday BinCitySioux is absolutely correct. No way Kupchella makes any move now. After listening to Douple yesterday as well no conference invite to a DII will be forthcoming anytime soon. What is different for UND now as opposed to 6 months or 6 years from now? Until you declare and toil through the independant waters of DI no conference will be calling the sioux. Last but certainly not least when your president isn't behind the move to DI its a tough sell to conference presidents that make those decisions.

Beats the hell out of UMC or Mary
-
As if thats any suprise? Looks like NDSU and SDSU will be heading to the Mid-Con.
-
Well for those who didn't hear it Tom Douple the commissioner of the Mid-Con was interviewed and asked about UND getting an invite to the Mid-Con prior to any announcement of moving up to DI and he said he didn't see it happening as long as he was commish of the Mid-Con. I am pretty sure you will get that answer from the BSC as well. Should put that idea to bed for good.
-
The meeting won't likely be done till around 6pm is the word. NDSU isn't expecting anything from this meeting and neither is SDSU in regards to expansion. If you believe what Halstrom is saying on his blog then the 12 team expansion idea was not a popular notion. Expansion to 10 seems more likely, but if that is the direction they are going then it won't likely happen until October and that will only be scheduled visits to potential members. SUU? Maybe. If they had thoughts on NDSU, waiting until October will kill that unless for some reason the Mid-Con doesn't extend an invite to NDSU. Then the BSC will see NDSU as an option just waiting for a conference again and the momentum if there is any to expand may cool down a bit until such time as a west coast school leaves the BSC. That in my opinion will be the key to any expansion for the BSC and until that happens I think they will deal with the status quo with or without NDSU.

With WDAY being the flagship for NDSU don't hold your breath on UND moving over there. It's bad enough with Hennen flappin his yap about UND as it is. He's been told to knock it off or so I hear regarding being a cheerleader for UND on WDAY. He has definetly toned it down from when he started at WDAY. Personally if I were a fan of UND I wouldn't want my teams broadcasts to be on the flagship of another school.

And of course we all know you can count on Fullerton's comment as the gospel truth
-
I have no problem with speculation, even wild speculation as long as all involved read it for what it is. I'm just waiting for someone to sign on now as Miss Cleo and give us their version
-
You have no sense of humor at all and if you can't see the connection to your post and pure speculation then your certainly must be a Miss Cleo customer. Or maybe your just close personal friends with everyone in the know in each conference. Your post rambles on like the red river to Winnipeg and you talk about it all so "matter of fact" that its hilarious. Then you make snide ignorant remarks about Bisonville because someone points out the fact that your post is purely speculation. Take a chill pill.
-
Can Be Reasonably expected? Which is a reasonably large assumption? Holy Crap this whole post is nothing but speculation and you talk about it almost as fact. Furthermore you talk about UND moving up? What world do you live in? You have no idea what may or may not happen but then again maybe you have a direct line to Miss Cleo's prison Cell

If the rules were different and it was made easy to move from one division to the next schools would be jumping around way to much. I think the existing rules have served the NCAA very well. No one said it was supposed to be easy. Those things in life worth having rarely come without a price. This is no different.
-
The big problem is the Transition period as well as the issue of being a core DI institution. To meet NCAA requirements for any conference there must be a minimum of 6 active core institutions (core meaning together for 5 years) and no institution counts as a core institution until they have 8 years in DI. This being the case transitional schools are really at a disadvantage when it comes to conference membership. Now with this information it appears the comments from UND gaining immediate conference membership or "not moving up without a conference" very much unrealistic. NDSU and SDSU may not be the shoe in either for the Mid-Con with these requirements. More time in DI is the only cure for that which is the part that hurts. It should still be an interesting next couple of weeks.

The latest news about the confusion on the deadline makes UND's administration look more like a poorly run operation in contrast to Fullertons comments. I understand Fullerton was most likely referring to the facilities at UND but when it comes to who's running the show one would have to ask is it Laurel or Hardy? One last note, its been said Fullerton will pander to his audience, I think those comments are proof positive of that. On one hand he's making statements that you quoted and on the other he's saying more or less that until you declare it's pretty much out of the question. You can argue the semantic's of his comments all you want but I think the remarks about him saying what his audience wants to hear are spot on. I don't see NDSU or SDSU in the BSC anytime soon. I do think we have a very good chance they will be in the Mid-Con. The BSC is pretty much struggling with what to do about given the different priorities of the schools in the conference. West Coast schools are happy with status quo, the Montana schools are not. Nothing new there.
-
As a fan its not your obligation to know what the date is. On the other hand for the administration of a school who is purportedly looking at the change it is a given that they need to be up to speed on every aspect of a potential move. For them to come out with this is about as ridiculous as me telling a police officer "gee I didnt know I needed a license to drive".
-
Not only will they have to declare but be along into the transition. For a conference to be interested you will not only have to declare but have some time into the transition. You may get some interest just as NDSU and SDSU did but look what happened and the reason given at the time or at least one of the reasons. Being 4 or 5 years out until your playoff eligible hurts when looking for a conference.

Agian all specultation. Time will tell but I don't see this as a good thing for UND if they decide to take the plunge. If they stay DII it won't matter, If I was a betting man I think kupchella is saying DII looks pretty good right now.
-
I think that may be wishful thinking on your part. For starters the Big Sky has continually said no to SUU. Second the Big Sky does not have to make a move at all if they didn't want to and they have shown that propensity in the past. To force the schools to deal with a 9 team league wouldn't suprise me at all. They can sit on the sidelines and just wait and see what happens after the dust settles. There are way to many vairables that one could sit and speculate all you want. The one thing that seems certain is that with Valpo out of the Mid-Con they are certain to add schools just how many and which ones will remain to be seen but it would appear to be good for NDSU and SDSU. If the sky wants to add a school later they always can put out the invite to a prospective school. But if NDSU and SDSU get into the Mid-Con not to sure what the other options for them would be at this time. I just don't see the Big Sky presidents acting so quickly, I'm pretty certain they didn't see this coming to a head this quickly. I think they figured the SU's would be here when they were ready to act. It's looking like that thinking may have been very much flawed.
-
I don't see that as an answer, number one they said no move up without conference invite in hand. Second even with the GWFC it doesn't answer the other questions about other sports and a conference. The Mid-Con if NDSU, SDSU and IPUFW would fill it out at 10. Where is that an answer to their conference question?

I think this action will make the poll results on this thread a mute point not to mention completely off.
