Well with this news NDSU and SDSU are pretty much a shoe in for the MID-CON, don't see the BSC being able to do anything quick enough to stop that. Not sure what that means for UND. Check it out. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c.../AON4020515.htm

I'm just telling you that not everyone misses the rivalry. If you really believe as you say "Both sides love that rivarly and miss it dearly" then you are wrong. It doesn't have to be a person has sour grapes, delusional thinking or have a grasp on the old rivalry. You comment that "The two schools need each other whether they like to admit or not" is off target as well. NDSU is doing fine and I would say so is UND. Your views on the subject are clouded by your fervor to see the games between the two start again. Not everyone see's things as you would like to believe. I do know many in Fargo (can't really say the same about Grand Forks but have read a few posts by those who think different then you) that are just fine with the two schools going their seperate ways. I myself am fine with it as well and I have no sour grapes, I'm not delusional and I attended games in the past between the two and understood the rivalry NDSU does not need UND, things are going very well and I'm not saying I'm against UND but I certainly would disagree with your comment about the two needing each other.

I do wonder with all the bad blood from the past if NDSU and SDSU get into a conference will it be such a good thing for UND? Especially NDSU and all that has happened with UND maybe its a better thing they have gone their seperate ways, I know many fans on both sides of the issue who are glad they don't play anymore. I think how UND approaches this and how the administration acts and has acted will definetly play a role in that process if it ever comes to that. Can't blame NDSU if they were to take the cautious approach if they are in a conference and UND decides to make the move and knocks on that conference door.

I have said it several times and that article pretty much backs up what I was saying. No conference will take you seriously until you declare. I don't think I would go so far as to say it excludes NDSU. If they decide to take NDSU/SDSU or just one by the time the conference schedules would be setup for the first year they are in the conference they would either have to wait one year for eligibility for playoffs or the Big Sky could make it so the first year they are in the conference is 08. Either way the main thing is NDSU and or SDSU get into the conference. If its the Mid-Con the same thing applies. I see a bright future based on those comments either way. The main thing is we only have two years left of transition and thats the bottom line. Conference affilitation will take care of itself and maybe sooner then many think for both NDSU and SDSU.

What your talking about is more the exception to the rule then the norm. I wouldn't be holding my breath if I were you waiting on that conference invite to come.
-
I would say when your looking at conference affilitation you take first one that offers. If and when something else that would be more appropriate comes along at a later date then you look at that option i.e. get conference affiliation first and then if and when its appropriate make a change if a better opportunity arises just like any other school would do. If UND does make the move they will be in the same boat as any other school looking for conference affiliation and until such time as a spot opens up then work through the transitional status just like NDSU and SDSU did. IF your asking how would I vote its a mute point as I have no vote. On the other hand I can't tell you how President Chapman or the SDSU president would vote I really don't know.

What does the Fargo Forum have to do with what NDSU officials or the fans of NDSU have to do with their choice in either or conference. Your comment about the Basketball conference vs. Football for the Big sky is legit and I won't argue that but those are just consequences of the two conferneces and where the fans interest in general lies. If the administration at NDSU was to favor the sky or the fans as well (which I'm not saying they do refer to the poll on Bisonville) you won't see a big difference in support of either they are pretty much in the same ballpark when talking about support from the fans. So back to the original reason for my reply to you and I still stand by it I think your argument is flawed and to say the Bison faithful think poorly or as you say spit on the conference is just plain wrong.
-
Once again Aff paints all with a broad brush, Saying that NDSU fans are spitting on the Mid-Con is so far out in left field. If you were to ask NDSU fan's the broad majority would be in favor of Both NDSU and SDSU getting into either conference. Both have their advantages but either would be fine.

If you guys had the cahona's to move up and were an independant you would be doing the same thing so don't be so quick to ridicule the Mid-Con. As far as the comment about NDSU's only chance at the BSC is with SDSU and UND is laughable. Maybe with SDSU yes but you still seem to think the BSC is looking at a DII school. You guys just don't get it, no conference is going to take you seriously when you haven't even declared. Don't hold your breath or throw to much dirt on any conference NDSU and or SDSU get in, you may be knocking on the same door someday.
-
I thnk he see's it as a no win situation either way. In the end my feeling is he will keep UND in DII, he certainly has enough ammo to do it not to mention his hearts not in the move which I think is the tell tale sign. To make the move requires 100% support of the president, he's far from that.

Bringing two schools to the BSC would give them 11 which isn't impossible to schedule for but 10 is easier to work with. Combine that with the fact that the Mid-Con looks to be very interested in both the SU's and add to that the previously mentioned flight issues (i.e. not having to travel to Minneapolis then Fargo) makes it a different landscape. Personally I don't think the BSC is going to do anything in the way of making any offer to any schools and NDSU and SDSU will land in the Mid-Con. This leaves the GWFC still intact and also leaves an option albeit not a real rosy one for UND. If that were to happen UND would liely get into the GWFC but the rest of the sports would have no home and they would toil in the landscape of the Independants just as the two SU's have had to do for the last three years.

I don't see any conference taking them seriously until they declare.

aff, Wow you really seem to get upset at the notion that some think there may be a possibility of NDSU only being added to the BSC without SDSU. First let me say that I am very glad that SDSU made the move with NDSU however I think the point that was being made was that the last time around when both SU's made the bid to get into the sky travel was a bit different. Delta did not fly into Fargo at that time. I know you don't want to concede that it could make a difference when discussing travel but I would think it could definetly play a factor. I'm not saying I would like to see only NDSU get into the sky without SDSU but travel issues have become a little bit easier now that Delta flies direct from Denver and Salt Lake City to Fargo whereas before they did not. In the end my first choice would be to see both NDSU and SDSU in the BSC but you need to lighten up a bit.

Who's to say he doesn't think he's doing whats right for UND? Maybe he truly believes they should stay in DII and who's to say he's wrong? Only the most avid fans seem to post to these boards but there are many more that both go to various games and contribute financially that I'm sure don't think its the right thing to move up. If his decision is to stay in DII everyone can debate the merits of that choice but only time will tell if he's right or wrong.

Eleven schools is much an option as 10, not sure why you automatically rule that out.
