Shannon's work on the Tailgate Show has nothing to do with Bubba's hiring or contract. It has nothing to do with who the football coach is. I assume IF Bubba was not the coach he would still be involved in public media.

Shannon Schweigert had nothing to do with UND media until Bubba was hired and KFGO and Associates got the contract for UND athletics. My guess is as soon as Bubba is gone, Shannon is also. I would think they would want somebody at least partially unbiased and able to criticize a little bit. Kelly Howe, while hardly neutral, is a little more open about criticizing a bit, and actually picked against UND a couple of times. I don't think Shannon picked against his brother once.

NDSU has had some really good classes in the past 10 years or so, but this year's is definitely down comparitively speaking

Not so sure. NDSU has 10 -15 very good recruits in the early signing period. They lost a couple but will probably replace them in the late period, like they did last year with Kobe Johnson and a couple of Texas guys.

So easy to compare and lambast Grand Forks economy to those south of us, but Fargo and Sioux Falls have two of the top four economies today.

In fairness to Grand Forks, I am fairly sure the GF market wasn't included in the study.

    Endzone TD Klein. Bank it

He definitely would be good for goal line fade...  You may need to have someone else get you to the end zone. Unless he gets much quicker, he will have trouble getting separation at the FCS level.

Your typical assumptions are mind numbing.  Where did I say Satter was better than Klein??  Never did.

Did you see either Carrier or Belquist play over the past couple seasons?  Didn't think so.

Satter is going to play DB at NDSU so comparing him to Klein is apples to oranges. The Terhark kid from WF Sheyenne was actually a better route running receiver than Klein in HS. I saw both play and the Terhark kid has an easier time separating thank Klein. You may be able to put some weight on Klein and make him into a very good TE in college, but I don't think he will be a game changing receiver. Satter and Terhark are both faster and more athletic than Klein.

I am not bragging about our attendance.
Sure seems funny though when posters on Bozoville claim there are 15,000 fans waiting for season tickets.

There are definitely NOT 15,000 people waiting for season tickets. That is why I never go on Bisonville.  There may be a thousand or two waiting for season tickets. NDSU could probably sell out 20,000 to 22,000 seats for every regular season game before the season starts, but not a lot more. The first few years the playoffs are new and everybody wants to go. It does get old watching 30 point blowouts. Not an excuse,  but it is the same all over the country in FCS.

The point I'm making is if the Bizon had enough fans to fill the MANURE PIT,

Again, You might want to sit this one out. Have you been to football games at both the Alerus and the Fargodome? One venue is definitely better...

Go back to Bozoville, get a life.

So there are more on this board other than SV that think in the next month or two there will be a new FBS conference announced that will include UND and other Big Sky schools?

  9. 3 hours ago, SiouxVolley said:

The Big Sky didn't announce it two years ago with the waiting period because they wanted to keep it secret from the know it alls like you.  The reason UND had to wait three years in the Big Sky is so the Summit football league will have an autobid right out of the gate.

50 days is more conservative as it would cover the NCAA Jan meeting.

You must have a list of schools that will be forming this new FBS conference if the announcement is coming within 2 months. Will you enlighten us?

He can either hope scouts think he can play with the big boys or prove it every week. Two FBS games?!?!? You really think that really compares to an FBS schedule?

I hope he doesn’t, but if he is worried about the NFL draft and not being spotted at NDSU, his best bet would be to transfer after this year. I know he would lose a year, but he would have 2 years at the new school to learn and get used to the offense.

No, but if he performs will in those games, wins  2 or 3 championships, and does well at the combine and pro day, he will be fine. Probably a better track than playing at an unfamiliar school in a new offense. With the disclaimer that Roehl needs to get better at play calling. If he keeps calling 2 of every 3 plays a run between the tackles, if I am the QB I would think about transferring.

So if you're Trey Lance do you try and graduate early and transfer to a P5 or just kill under manned teams for three more years?

Why would he? Wentz has proven scouts will find you at NDSU. He will play against 2 Pac 12 schools if he stays at NDSU. Not sure it will help him transferring to an FBS school. How did it go for Vernon Adams?

    3.  The only good thing about your consistent arrogance and negativity in your posts is that after reading them early in the morning, I can vent my own disgust and negative thoughts to you! When I read them late at night, I do not lose sleep over them.

Seriously, do we have to listen to this another 260+ days in the off season? I like GF, UND, Sioux, and the FB staff and team....I do NOT care about NDSU. Your comments negatively reflect on your program....

There is exactly one fan base, and a very small percentage of that base, that is talking a one suspended player in 10 years at NDSU.

And the sooner you realize only a !@#!$! spends as much time trying to post on another teams blog commenting about stuff that should be irrelevant to   you. NDSU is very good right now. Good for their players and coaches but is doesn’t mean you are relevant. With today’s scouting and technology the NFL will find you whether you are at Concordia, Mankato State or NDSU. You will be more likely to make Mel Kiper’s list at NDSU.  If you think Aviation is the only major field of study where UND students have an advantage then you are uninformed but who cares?  I answered a guys question and it has nothing to do with NDSU. Someday you may realize the success of our favorite athletic teams doesn’t make us any better or worse than those who cheer for Mayville State. Jump off your bandwagon and go make a life for yourself. You should have better things to do than even care what people here say.

And the sooner people get their heads out of their a@@ and realize  that a UND degree is not some kind of golden ticket to whatever job they want the better. Every year at recruiting time, we hear how UND is “The Flagship” school and recruits should realize how much more prestigious an UND education is over NDSU.

i work for a multi-billion dollar corporation headquartered in the Upper Midwest. I know the people that do the hiring. We have Engineers, business and finance graduates, management trainee grads, era. It makes zero difference if your degree is from UND, NDSU, MSUM, Concordia, UofMary, Minot State or U of Minn. Everybody has an equal chance at getting an interview and eventually being hired.

While you may be believe this, there are future doctors and lawyers enrolled at NDSU right now. Do you think when a student applies to Med School, a student with a 507 MCAT score from UND would get in over a student from NDSU with a 508 score because his undergrad degree is from UND.

First of all you deal with facts. We have to get better and there are still kids who want to be part of turning a program around. There are opportunities to play right away here that for some players will make a difference. You need to understand you are also recruiting the parents and in some cases friends of the athlete UND isn’t just a “hockey school “ it’s the flagship University of the State of North Dakota with a tradition the goes way back before any of us were born. That is why we still have a winning record against the “school to the south “.  We made the mistake of not moving up back when the Montana schools and UNI and others moved up but that is where these young recruits come in. They can always be remembered as the first team to take the important steps to success. They have the opportunity to attend a first class University that offers over 175 ( or whatever the number is) fields of study. Our graduates have been CEO’s of major corporations such as Continental and Frontier Airlines, One of the Largest Timber Firms in the world, a world renowned Mineral/Gold mining corporation. Cargill and Buffalo Wild Wings to name just a few.  Our graduates have become important Doctors, Lawyers, Judges, Engineers, Accountants, Teachers, Governors, Senators, Congressmen/Women, and astronauts. Many graduates are successful entrepreneurs. The President of the Minnesota Twins and the most successful coach in the history of the NBA are UND grads. UND grads have earned Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in track and field and hockey. These will be their fellow students and these associations will help create opportunities for success in the future.  We have all of the resources  in place right now that the athletes need to be successful and we will continue to improve and build in the future but we want athletes to come to UND to be part of that success.  If these kids will be willing to take the challenge of being the difference makers for the underdog that will re-establish UND as a National FB power. You don’t compare with anyone else you sell your University and the athletic opportunities they should take advantage of. Your players must have a passion for the program and a belief in what they can do as athletes and a team. Team chemistry can be contagious. Hopefully the new President understands how a successful intercollegiate athletic program can help all facets of the University. These are the things you focus on with your recruits. Behind the scenes your staff, the athletic department, the alumni office/foundation staff, and the new UND administration create a priority list and timeline to put the resources in place to meet the needs of all UND athletic teams. That is how I would recruit. We also need to do a better job of identifying recruits. Hegg from Brainerd, Schobert from Wisconsin, Thielen  from Detroit Lakes  are examples of kids we could have have locked up with a half scholarship each. As we need we do the appropriate upgrades and additions to the coaching staffs and athletic dept.

I didn’t mean to be so “brief”. but the thought that we can’t be successful because we have some disadvantages frustrates me.

And the truth is, unless you want to go into the aviation field, you can go to any other D1 stste school in the Dakota’s and get the same education and go onto being a CEO, doctor, lawyer or whatever you want to be also. Plus. That can say if you want to play beyond college NDSU gives you your best chance. Yes, UND and NDSU both screeed up when they stayed D2 when the Montana schools and UNI went D1AA. NDSU corrected that mistake sooner than UND. Now the gap between the top and everyone else is massive.

i wonder how recruits respond to “did you see Kenny Golloday Sunday? He started here before he transferred. Did you see Joe Schobert Sunday? He almost came here.”

The sooner Chave’s realizes Bubba ain’t the answer the better for your program and your fans.

All I want for Christmas is a stout 300# NT that will chew up blocks and push them in the backfield.   That alone with cure must of the rushing defense.

I don't know if that is the answer. I don't think NDSU has had a 300 lb DL in any of their championship years and have played against plenty of teams that have had 300 lb DL. You need 275 to 285 lb DT's and 250 LB DE'S  that are athletic, strong, and can move.

So you know for a fact that Easton Stick’s offer at Rutgers and Seth Anderson’s offer at Kansas were non-committable? Or are you just speculating?

And when Missouri offered Radunz and Boise State (I know they are not technically P5), offered Lance, both a week or less before signing day, those schools offered but said we don’t actually want you?

What about the OL this year? They all trimmed down by design because for some stupid reason the coaches thought that would be a good idea. So you’re saying Baukol accomplished a goal he was given? JJ came in and Rudy wanted him at like 250 so he bulked up? I thought guys can’t bulk up under Baukol? And yea, that was another stupid mistake by a coach but it wasn’t Baukol’s idea. I’m seriously starting to question the critical thinking skills of a lot of people on this board. I’m all for an honest critique but please try and know what you’re talking about because this is gfhockey level logic.

Then maybe Baukol needs to grow a pair and tell the coaches a featured tailback is going to lose speed and quickness if he adds 25 pounds when he is already 225. I can see s 175 lb TB needing to add  some weight, but if you have a 225 pounder, maybe you drop 5 lbs to try to add a little speed and quickness. Maybe that is on the coaches.

FCS schools don’t get any “highly recruited”athletes, unless one considers FBS drop-downs.  Just the nature of the beast.

So are you saying Bubba is getting the same kind of FB player and athlete as NDSU and other top FCS schools and the S&C program just isn’t doing their job?

Some FCS schools get kids that have several FBS offers, but no, they aren’t getting any 4or 5 star kids with Bama or Clemson offers. Not what you are calling “highly recruited” kids. I would call a kid with say 10 D1 offers highly recruited vs a kid with just 1 D1 offer.
