UND would play a piss ant team like Butler.  UNI would be a more appropriate opponent because both teams would bring fans.

The NDSU -Butler game was an epic failure compared to St Thomas - St John’s as it attracted more fans from both teams and was no a rout.

UNI doesn't travel well for FB. SO maybe you would get 15,000 fans in a 38,.000 seat stadium. That is a good look for UND FB.  Even with St. Peter calling the shots, I can't see him using up one of his every other year FB games (he said hosting a FB game will not be an every year occurance) on a very risky game like UND would offer.  And ask the Twins which game was more successful. 35,000 at the NDSU where face value of most tickets were $42 to $99 ot 37,000 at a D3 game where most were in the $15 to $20 range? Plus I am going to guess concessions at the NDSU game may have outpaced the St. Johns St. Thomas game.

what was the line a few years back when usd beat ndac in fargo?

USD sucked that year which should give UND fans hope. NDSU does occasionally, once or twice a year, play horribly and let bad teams beat them. So i'm saying there is a chance... But after watching some of the UND/Drake game, I am not sure this UND team is as good as that USD team.

So NMSU’s AD gave an interview where he hired a big shot to get NMSU and GCU a new conference.

There is no body looking now for addition in established FBS conferences.  NDSU just did a Target Field game in preparation for FBS and expect they will try again with an actual FBS team (a MAC school as the opponent).  UND has to do what NDSU does or fall behind again.

I expect the WAC, Summit, the Southland, and the Big Sky to do some massive reconfigurations now that PFW is now gone, possibly in the next month.  The Summit is for the first time free of EST schools but needs more teams or different sports for compliance.

NMSU’s AD just gave their fans a courtesy announcement so get a head’s up.

A UND FB game at Target Field would be an epic failure. The interest is not there. They played their season opener at home in a half full Alerus Center with tickets costing $15. How many would trek to MSP and pay 2 or 3 times that to see a game at Target Field?

A week from today we may still be celebrating beating number 1

Is that what you are calling it these days?  When we were younger we used to call it a pee pee...I guess you go pee pee or number 1 with it, so I guess I get it...

  5. It was kind of cute when Jack Michaels asked Bubba about the noise in the Fargodome and he equated it to the noise in the Alerus. He said it was hard for offenses of opposing teams in both venues.

Without Rudolph as our OC, I think this time we will attempt a forward pass.

If I am Bubba with Freund as the new OC, I think I leave my punter in Grand Forks this weekend.

Based on the comparable scores, UND should do well in the next game.

    Drake 36. Butler 6

    UND 47 Drake 7

    NDSU 57 Butler 10

30 + 40 - 47 = 23 point favorite for UND if comparable scores work, and not saying they do.

I'll take the 23 points and bet my house on it.

Does Bo Pelini finally turn things around at Y State?

Bo and Bubba started at their respective schools at about the same time...  One coach has had a bit more success than the other...

Fresh meat at qb for teh AC this year. His second career start will come against the Mighty Fighting Hawks. I look forward to Schmidt making his head spin.

Lance learned from Stick and Hedberg and goes up against a much better defense that UND can throw at him everyday in practice that will give him every look you can imagine with better athletes. I don't think the almighty DC Schmidt that couldn't stop a backup QB at UNA last year in the biggest game of the season will fluster Lance into the fetal position like you are suggesting.

Agreed, as much as I would love to beat NDSU, I am more concerned with having a good season and getting into the playoffs and doing something.

Well,  the game against NDSU is everybody's Super Bowl...

Did not watch, but see he had two tackles. His name isn’t mentioned on their twitter feed at all so a quiet game is usually a good sign for a corner

Thank you. You never know as a corner if a tackle is a good thing or not.

He played with second team. I didn’t see entire game but he was where he was supposed to be. Made a good break on int he dropped. He looked like he belonged. I think chances still decent but he has to keep learning and getting better each week. Decent shot at practice squad. I’d be surprised if they don’t want to see more of him before they make a decision.

I didn't see the Redskins game last night and was thinking I would see an update on Harris on this site. Did anyone see the game? Did Harris play? If he did how did he do? Just wondering.  He is a "local" kid from NW Minn. Would like to see him make succeed.

The "educational fit with UND" mantra is propaganda. It has been said for years in order to try offset what NDSU has built but to no avail. It hasn't worked and won't work by itself to turn the tide. Sure, recruit kids that want to be pilots and lawyers and doctors, but that alone won't turnaround the UND football program.

UND has an advantage onkKids that want to go into aviation, which is not terribly common. Kids that want to be doctors or lawyers can go to NDSU just as well as UND.  I have two cousins, one a lawyer and one a doctor, that received their undergrad degrees from NDSU in the last 10 years and were accepted into every Med School and Law School they applied to. They graduated from Law and Med school just as fast as kids in their class that started at UND.

Probably worth mentioning that at the end of June, UND picked up a commitment from a different running back out of Minnesota that was the was the exact same size as this kid. No inside info on this one but not sure how hard UND was still in pursuit of a running back of the exact same size/skill set.

You are most likely right on in this observation. Any school that gets a kid with one D1 offer to commit would tell a recruit that is the best recruit in the same state at the same position that all of the regional D1 schools want "sorry, we no longer need you".

Oh yeah.  SIU, Ind St, and W Illinois are not worthy of the Dakotas as they are all going broke and can’t compete academically within their own states.  Illinois St has been looking for an FBS invite from the MAC for forty years.  When the MVFC loses the Dakotas, they would have to look at Grand Valley St, Wayne St, Robert Morris, and Murray St.

Trolls just never understand that the MVC considers NDSU and SDSU trash schools academically, so they would never get an invite.  The MVC isn’t going to invite country hicks to their country club as AG schools are trash to them.  NMSU was the last AG school and they haven’t been knocking in the MVC door again since they dropped FBS even when they badly needed options.

So what do MVC schools think of Missouri State, Illinois State, SIU, etc? Do they consider those schools trash schools because they have Colleges of AG?  Why wouldn't they vote those hick schools out and add the elite UND's and USD's?

My dream would have been adding NMSU

    But alas....

OMG, bite your tongue.  UND, the Harvard of the Upper Midwest, should never stoop as low as being in the same conference as an AG school like NMSU...  Where are your standards???

SDSU's stadium's capacity is 19,340. When it was designed and constructed, it was made in such a way (footings in the ground etc.) that a significant expansion would be relatively easy and less expensive than if the stadium was constructed for 19,340 without expansion in mind.

And they only need a 19,000 seat capacity once every 2 years and that is because a third of the stadium is green and gold.

Many years ago before the oil boom we were talking with Mayor Koeser of Williston

he told us he was looking at moving the airport about 10 miles out of town.  He had a vision back then and it’s paying off.

the Red River Valley needs a vision for future airports and it would be to put an airport at Hillsboro to serve both Grand Forks and Fargo and quit putting money in both the current airports, people will complain that it’s 35 miles from either town.  Most metro airports are more than 35 miles from their suburbs.  Most people in North Dakota probably have to drive over 100 miles to an airport.

go ahead and call me crazy, just my 2 cents

Yep,  Fargo is going to piss off 90% of their travelers that have a 10 mile or less drive to the airport to make it more convenient for people in the GF area to catch a flight. Not going to happen.

Thousands? Are you including internal tests in those? Because I promise you those weren't all clean, but they are handled internally and not disclosed.

I think it has been discussed in this forum that there are 18 random tests per team after every playoff game. At 4 or 5 games per year during a 9 year run, that would put the number of NCAA administered tests at close to a thousand. Not a bad percentage of positive tests compared to every other team in the country. You must be an NDSU FB insider to know about the rampant positive internal tests they are coming up with.

This time BB Mama's accusations never got questioned, just publicly denied by Matt your AD. Junior was thrown under the bus and Mama's dirt was swept under the carpet.

downloadmarr.jpg   trusted staff member - wide spread through out the locker room

Next time maybe another Junior's Mama doesn't throw the towel in after making such accusations and the coaching staff goes down - athletic department is liable to some degree - and so on????

Keep Cheatin ha? Simple question, does your Mama trust you?

One suspension in hundreds if not thousands of tests in the last 8 years. I guess you have a new definition of an epidemic than most. My assumption is there is not widespread usage or there would have been more positive tests.  And I would hate for the athletic department to go down in flames like Clemson did after several positive tests a couple of years ago...  I'm not sure if they will ever recover... And from a program that had a player arrested for dealing steroids a couple of years ago, pot meet kettle.

    IPF......Illegal Ped Facility?

Yep. Ya ain't trying if ya ain;t cheatin..   Especially if you are smart enough not to get caught. And if only one positive test out of a thousand or more is all you get caught on, I say keep doing what you are doing...

NDSU is switching with Augie so you can maul the DII’s and the NSIC, so you can always win which would prevent future temper tantrums in Fargo and keep down numbers in St John’s.

I would say that is an idiotic prediction/statement but it is not nearly your most outrageous one.

The next NCAA meeting will be early next year.  After that could be the time to move to the G5.

Well have the Griz contacted UND yet? UND is the key to any FBS movement by the Big Sky or any of their teams correct?
