Given that a hundred times.  Your next opponent Delaware will move up too as they have updated their stadium and facilities for FBS..  AD Larsen confirmed that NDSU will move in a few years.

But the fans bases are so knowledgeable that they say it won’t happen.

When did Larsen say NDSU was moving up to FBS?

It might be a generational thing but glad programs are now online only. I would say a lot of the printed ones go unsold or tossed in the trash after the game. Seems a lot of waste in paper, ink, and trash space. Also saving the school money on the unsold programs

kind of agree but my guess is 1/3 of the people attending games (not just UND but NDSU as weel, like my father) would not know how to view a program online.

Did the Bison win a national title in 1977. Cab’t even remember that.

I'm a Bison fan and and did not realize NDSU EVER won a national championship in men's basketball. I really think they are confusing men's and women's BB. I am almost certain UND has had more men's BB success in D2 than NDSU.

New rule. Didn’t look like a cheap shot, didn’t look like a big deal.

I do think think that there was actually a hit after the whistle by an NDSU player that wasn't called on the same play so the 15 yards were still warranted.

Well he knows getting drafted in the first round is just as easy playing for the bison as for any other P5 team so I don’t see why he would want to transfer. It could become a bigger possibility if he could Grad transfer. No way he would transfer if he has to sit another season.

Why would you grad transfer if you can be a top 1st round pick at NDSU? There is a better chance scouts and agents tell him he may be a high 1st round draft pick after his junior season and he comes out early. Way too early to know that but even at this point that is more of a possibility than Cox coming out early after this year.

An illegal blindside block and corresponding bench penalty, OK, warning, was issued to NDSU on the same play in the second half.

Who took the brunt of that illegal* hit and what's their status? I'm asking for a friend named Zach Arnell ...

*It was penalized, and thus, by definition, illegal.

The illegal blind side block was on the 2nd Tutsie interception. I don't think it was a blind side block. The defended that laid the block was facing the UND offensive player that was pursing Tutsie. In fact, the NDSU player was fairly stationary and the UND player pretty much ran into him.

PLUS most of your fans are girly or wimps who can't take sh*t because they can't swear out loud while living in their parents basements.

    just sayin'!

    BOOYAH!

Damn, you got me a good one there. Never heard the living in the parents basement one before. I had you pegged as a Trumpster. I guess I was right...

The AG college was considered magically UNBEATABLE for all those years until a goofy defensive player (LOVE Mike Mooney) snatched an interception and ran it back for an improbable touchdown and the tide turned for more than a decade until the bison fled their league for "higher" ground.  Time for UND to stake some claim to that land too!   Maybe not with a win but I think Bubba will put a good scare on them this year.  PERFECT calling card for our entrance into the MoValley next year!   Coming for ya Bizooone:-)

Oh, UND will eventually win a game against NDSU. The Bison generally lose a game or two every year. In the 10 or so years they have been on the MVFC, they have probably lost to each school at least once. Luckily for UND , it is often to a bad team. Sometimes a teams just plays badly enough to lose to anybody. It is bound to happen eventually.

Butler was picked preseason 8th in a !@#!$ conference.  Thanks for proving my point.

Again, I didn’t say Butler was any good and I wasn’t saying NDSU looked good against them therefore they will have a great season. You were saying saying you were impressed with UND because of how they looked against Drake, another team that isn’t very good.

Butler's tallest starting OL was 6'1".  The heaviest was 280 and that guy was 6'0".  wtf

Zimmerman may have 10 seconds to survey the field then I guess. NDSU probably has not seen an offensive line as powerful as UND's in quite some time.  What did UND rush for against Drake? I guessing it must have been at least 300 yards? maybe 400? Especially with a tail back as big as the DL  running behind that powerful OL.

And the same can be said about NDSU versus Butler!!

FYI Drake crushed Butler last season.

I'm not claiming NDSU is good because they beat Butler. Butler is not very good. They could have scored 80 if they wanted to. They threw the ball 14 times not because they couldn't throw it, but because they didn't have to and didn't want to run up the score. They have a little more a history to go by to prove they are good. UND had a bit more trouble with Drake.  UND had 12 points at halftime and poured it on to try to make it look like a dominant effort to try to get some enthusiasm for their program. And apparently it worked. Good for them. A little false hope never hurt anyone.

Wyoming wouldn’t waste their time playing a second tier team in a destination game. Sorry but even Wyoming is too good to bother accommodating NDSU. Even though NDSU has beat more P5 teams in the last 15 years than WY

If NDSU want to build on the Target Field game they will need to schedule a popular FCS team. No FBS team would bother to stoop to that level.

I didn't suggest they should try to or that any G5 team would play NDSU, at Target Field, the Fargodome or at their own stadium for that matter. No G5 team will schedule NDSU period because they will get beat. SV said they NDSU would try to schedule a G5 team at Target Field next time. It is not that a G5 team would be afraid to stoop to the NDSU level, it is that they know they would get beat.

I think we score points on offense.

I like our matchup in the secondary.  I was impressed with our corners and safety's.  I'm most concerned about our dline.  I anticipate lots of slants and angles.  I think Schmidtty got a good look on how they will block some things up front last week as I believe Butler ran some 3-4.

Have to force some turnovers to have a chance.

Most importantly.  Play to win and let the chips fall where they may.  Don't play just to keep it close this year.

Drake had a true freshman QB that still looked like a HS kid and an OL and receivers that weren't very good. I think perhaps any cormer's and safety's would look good.

You didn’t hear that from anyone. He had offers from Brown, Cornell, and Colgate along with an offer from Air Force. Acedemics were not an issue.

    And Columbia...

I thought this was just another game for them and the coach didn 't think it meant anything. Also heard from a friend of a friend that he did not pass UND academic standards and had to settle for Moo U.

Good analysis. Lance and Cox are the two most talented players on either side of the ball. UND covering the spread if the smart bet IMO.

    Enjoyed the read.

Lance will be playing with a chip on his shoulder this week. Bubba didn’t think he was good enough to play for the Fighting Hawks.

The Hawks are not a touchdown a quarter below Juice U, this is a lock pick if you like a small wager!!!
Same as polls this early in the year, too much on previous productions. Playing early in the season this year give us a little extra. They will see some surprises from us.

If this is such a lock pick why a small wager? Bet a months salary. You think there is no way NDSU can cover. Like Lance said in his interview, they see looks from teams every week the haven’t shown on film before. This week will be no different. I know they don’t go up against the great Bubba or Schmidt defense, but they may not s#%t their pants when they line up on Saturday in fear and confusion. But we will see.

That number is significantly higher than what I've heard, have any sources to back that up?

I also think you overestimated the average cost of tickets but whatever. I don't think there is room to increase them without a big name opponent. And there were plenty of tickets sold for under $40.

When I looked at getting tickets a couple of weeks ago, I would estimate about half the seats were in the $42 to $99 range, with the vast majority of the rest $35. Not that many less than that. I think an average of the 35,000 sold would be in the $40 to $45 range conservatively.

My understanding is the final number was much closer to $600K than $1 million if it even broke the former once everything is sorted out. There were plenty of comp tickets and cheap tickets sold the last week or two that didn't move the needle much for either side. Impressive showing regardless and everyone came out happy.

Regardless, my point is the isn't a bunch of extra revenue for everyone to come out happy a second time by paying a G5 a significantly larger guarantee as I don't think there is a legitimate name that will  move the needle enough to allow for the increased ticket prices needed to keep all sides happy. The same game with another subpar opponent won't draw nearly as well.

If they could get a MWC team, like Wyoming or Fresno or Colorado State, they could double ticket prices and fill the stadium. I don’t think a MAC school would be as attractive.

So you think this UND isn't as good as a USD team that sucked, alright then.   I think we are better than that USD team, but it's highly unlikely you are going to play horribly against us.  Even though you don't think it's a rivalry game I'm sure your coaches will have your team more focused than that week against USD.

I’m not saying it isn’t a rivalry game for fans. It is. But it isn’t for the players. They see SDSU and UNI as rivals. For the most part, the coaches are in the same boat. There are a couple of former players on staff, but none of them played against UND. This is a game that undoubtly means much more to UND players and coaches than to NDSU players and coaches. If both teams play up to their talents, the 28 tp 31 point spread is accurate, but any given Saturday...

They were saying the Twins guaranteed NDSU $600,000 with 30,000 tickets sold. It would go up from there. Plus, they got some of the merchandise and a small share of concessions.

  22. 2 minutes ago, SiouxVolley said:

When NDSU goes FBS and needs attendance to qualify, a 35,000 paid audience helps in case the season is a disaster ( FargoDome roof caves in)..  Maybe it even goes to the Wells Fargo stadium.  NIU would be a natural, as they haven’t been drawing well late in their season when it’s cold and wet.

NDSU has met the FBS qualifications for attendence for m any years at the Fargodome without a 35,000 attendance at Target Field. It is UND that needs to pad their attendance to qualify.

  23. 5 minutes ago, jdub27 said:

How do the economics for that actually work? Unless they significantly raise ticket prices, NDSU is fine with a much smaller guarantee or Target Field takes on a much larger risk and ends up with a smaller payout, the money isn't there. Target Field paid Butler's $185K guarantee. Any FBS team will cost 3-4x that which is basically all of NDSU's take home if not more. There are only a handful of G5 teams that would move the needle enough to command a significant price increase, but those are going to come with an even higher guarantee. Not sure I buy it.

NDSU came home with close to a million dollars from the Target Field game and like you said, didn't have to pay the Butler guarantee.
