Can you imagine trying to convince yourself this is actually true?

Yes, he was the best player on the court LAST NIGHT. That doesn’t mean he is the best basketball player overall that was on that court last night. If you were going to start  a team with one player that was on the floor last night, at least 8 of 9 SL coaches would not pick Stewart.

    #34.......uffffffff.

    #15.....he's an NCIS player.

The reality is this team has 3 scorers. #1 was the best player on the floor. #12 was really good. Unfortunately #23 got into early foul trouble.

#1 had the best game of any player on the floor last night, but was not the best player on the court. #12 is a very good player and definitely the best big man on the court last night. #23 can hit open 3’s if you hive him them, but isn’t going to create a shot on his own.

Was a good college BB game in a great environment. Officiating was suspect both ways all night. Both teams made big plays down the stretch.....with #1 making the biggest. Fun evening to be a part of.

I am a season tix holder at NDSU, and everyone I see 2 of those refs I tell the kids it’s going to be a bad night in the officiating department. I didn’t recognize the bald headed one, but the other 2 are always horrible.

If they get knocked down, apparently it should be a foul.

Example. In the final minutes. Shahid goes by Rebraca for a layup. Rebraca bumps him and no call. Next possession or two, Stewart goes in for a layup, less contact, (Actually really no contact)  from Krueser, they call a foul. But this game doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Win or lose tonight for NDSU, basically whoever wins the game Thursday in Fargo between NDSU and SDSU gets the number 1 seed and the loser gets the #2 seed.

    Cry much??

It would just be nice if they called a consistent game. They did not. Shahid and Hunter got knocked down on many drives and didn't get a call but Stewart was getting the calls that were no calls on Shahid and Hunter. But all that really matters is 3 games in Sioux Falls and getting a #1 seed to lock up at least an NIT bid.

I want DU to make it over Western, they will be fun to watch over the next two years.

Don't understand ORU. All that talent in the post and they finally have enough at the guard spot to compliment it and can beat the top teams (albeit at home), then go out to DU and lose in OT.  Then lose at UND without Rebraca.   Either ORU is going to win it all or get dumped in the 1st round, it just seems the way it is trending.

Agree. The SL is fairly balanced. Some years you could say you would be very surprised if one of one teams didn’t win it all. This year, any team that makes it has a legitimate chance to win it, 1 through 8. SDSU will probably be the favorite just because of the home crowd.

  7. The 1/2 seed will most likely be determined solely on the SDSU/NDSU game in Fargo. Even if UND beats NDSU tonight, a win over the Jacks at least tieds them and with USD most likely the 3 seed, the Bison would have the tiebreak. Although other than assuring the NIT bid, I think the 2 seed may be more advantageous. Denver at the 8 seed has some talent and is dangerous and I would rather be on the same side of the bracket with the Yotes than ORU. ORU may have the most talent in the SL if they can put it together.

"You look at where we're at right now with our record, and that's without Melissa Leet in the lineup. There are some things we have to do better, but I'm proud of what this group has accomplished and in some of the things we saw tonight," said Brewster in the postgame.

    after loss to western Illinois

idk. Have we accomplished much this year? Shouldn’t we have strong players in every class. Idk?

I think Brew may possibly be overestimating the loss of Leet a bit. I remember her playing some the last two years, but not sure it is a major loss. My guess is she may have averaged more fouls per game than points or rebounds.

I think you're overestimating the talent level on the team... SDSU and USD appear much better, physically and skills wise

I think you are right. I think UND has very good athletes in their WBB team, but not necessarily great BB players. And it really does appear that Brew just tells them to get the ball up the court and get a shot off as fast as possible, then make or miss, press full court no matter the situation. I was for years envious of the state of WBB program of UND over NDSU’s. Right now I am not. Just observing from the outside. But it will never get as bad in GF as the last decade of women’s basketball has been in Fargo.

So we expecting anyone tomorrow? So weird just two years ago this site would be on fire with comments.

I hope so. You have a big party scheduled for tomorrow night. I suppose you can use the program that you used in December.

I've seen the other two guards behind him play... I'd take Brady getting the minutes.  Truth is, he is the best guard off the bench right now (since Moody is hurt).  He does have a scholarship

I like what he is bringing in next year, but yeah... this stretch has shown just how empty things are right now, especially when down a guard.   Some tough decision are going to have to be made in the offseason.  I could see UND having zero seniors on next years squad.

I didn't hear, did he sign any in the early signing period?  And I am assuming DAE has shown more in previous games than he showed today? My guess is today was an off night for him?

If UND at any point would have decided to play some defense they win by 15. Atrocious is being kind on the defensive end. The better team didn't win.....the better team gave it away.

I agree UND may have better players, but your coach doesn't appear to have much if any of a coaching philosophy. He appears to just tell his players to play as fast as possible, full court press and be as physical as possible. Then complain that the refs called the game too tight. UND's girls generally deserve their fouls. BTW, the free throw were 33 for UND and 38 for NDSU, which is fairly even considering at least 10 of NDSU's were from intentional fouls at the end of the game.

I will say this..........Sather can coach. IMO he'll turn this program around if he can recruit.

Agree.  Huge improvement over Jones.  We will see if he can recruit.  The cupboard was fairly bare. I am not sure bringing Danielson along was a good move. Is he on a a scholarship? As an NDSU fan, when Richman puts Quayle in the game I always question if he really doesn't have someone better to put in (I know he does). I am guessing if I were a UND fan I would be saying the same when Danielson enters a game.

. Hopefully UND does not do what NDSU did, give up on Women's basketball.

SDSU and USD need UND to be good.

NDSU has been, and still is this year, historically bad. But I have confidence that Jory Collins can finally turn it around when he gets his kids in. The 2 best players in the program have to sit out this year for transfer reasons. I think we will find out today it is still USD and SDSU and then the rest of the Summit. I think we will find out, even though UND will win, they are closer to NDSU than the SD schools.

That would insinuate we have talent that isn't being used or lived up to....for which I would disagree with

Talent on this team is limited but they can finish 4-5th in the Summit, imo

I don’t think the talent level between these two teams is very big at all. If you exchange the two point guards, I think UND is a slight favorite. The difference in leadership between Shahid and Stewart is huge.

Here's an old article that Montana seriously flirted with the old WAC but didn’t move at the time as Montana St had too much costly work, like expanding their stadium and both needed better FBS facilities.  Never mind adding 22 scholarships for the men, more sports and schollies for the women, so it was just too massive a cost at once.  But Montana St soon borrowed money for a stadium expansion to get ready.  They are now both ready except for women’s sporting additions and 22 more scholarships

Now is the time to change leagues and move the whole league up.  In 2011, a new league wouldn’t qualify for the CFP payout. A new league could qualify in 2025 for CFP if it started the FBS move by 2023.

How can the Montana schools add 22 Scholarships when they can't afford FCOA?

  17. 7 hours ago, SiouxVolley said:

The MWC would never take an FCS team for a move up unless they lost a bunch to P5, which could be decades.  NDSU does not have big enough metro area and good enough mbb.

If the MWC need new schools, they would take Rice or UTSA.

The MWC has talked about adding FB only schools. That is the only way NDSU gets in the MWC.

So, when does a FCS or a FBS school looking for a HC come knocking on Tyler Roehl's door?

Whoever want him they can have him. I’m not sure if it is him or Entz responsible for the play calling, but if they have a lead in the second half , they become EXTREMELY conservative and predictable.

That’s interesting, NDSU opened as a slight favorite correct?

I wouldn’t be surprised if JMU ended up as slight favorites given they are the more experienced team.

I had seen 5Dimes opened with NDSU as a slight favorite but 2 sports books in Vegas had JMU as a slight favorite.
