  1. And if the playoffs get expanded to 24, there is also less reason for them to worry as the extra at larges would be mostly used on top auto bid conference teams that didn't win the confernece. BTW, which ISU is the article talking about? Indiana or Illinois? Illinois State may be moving to I-A not long after this gets built:
  2. Ok, concerts I can obviously see. But he said that they want the AL be a convention center with the new hotel complex? In any way imaginable, there is no way that UND is going to get kicked out for using it as a football stadium for 6 home games and possible playoff games.
  3. My argument still stands. What are they going to do with those 10k seats and the suites? They serve no function during a convention.
  4. With BYU literally right next door and Utah, Weber State, Utah State, and Idaho State in the general area, I don't see why UVSC would add football. SIUE is interesting. I'd rather they become independant of SIU, perhaps the University of Edwardsville. The U of OKC moving up would be another interesting addition.
  5. But there's no way they'd simply say "well, UND football, we need this place as a convention center more than a football arena, even though there are 10k permanent seats as well as suites that have no function during conventions". That doesn't make much sense. 2 new hotels opened up next to the Fargodome, but they certainly aren't going to be kicking the football team out any time soon.
  6. I think he was joking. Why would UND want a new facility when they have a 5 year old (right?) one? Just because it's not on campus? With new turf, the Alerus would be a top 10 facility in the CS.
  7. UNI just built a new 6500 (around there) bball arena for 30 million. I don't think UND is going to spend 30 million just for a new bball arena.
  8. Whereas if UND goes to the Big Sky, LAX would certainly be added seeing that...no BSC members have it...? Actually, not a single western conference sponsers the sport.
  9. Does anyone seriously think that UND would axe baseball and softball in favor of men's and women's Lax?

    USD to DI

The Great West has been talking to at least 4 schools. No names have officially been given but the speculation is that they're UND, USD, San Diego, and Sacramento State. If either SSU or USD joins the Great West and NDSU/SDSU stay, the GW will be autobid eligible for the 2010 season. By then I think it would be likely that both UND and USD would be in the GW, though neither would be helping the autobid cause until 2012. If NDSU and SDSU go to the Gateway, the GW would need to add all 4 schools by the 2008 season and wouldn't qualify for the autobid until 2014. Then, of course, there's always Sac State's plans to move up to DI-A and the WAC. Davis would be an ideal travel partner for them. And SUU could be picked off by the Big Sky at any time.

    Goodbye NCC

Both are in small towns about 2 hours from Seattle. I guess both are about the same as SUU, so I would say I suppose so.
  12. NDSU, UND, SDSU, and USD have never = the NCC. So this part of your post is very odd. I don't get it.

    Goodbye NCC

I think the question is more like "where CAN they go?". And the obvious answer is nowhere. I would think their only hope would be if the NAIA Frontier conference moved up to DII. That would include football teams of: Carrol (NAIA champions), Montana Tech, Montana Western, Montana Northern, and Eastern Oregon. They could also schedule Western Oregon.

    Goodbye NCC

The MIAA doesn't have wrestling or women's swimming. The NSIC does have wrestling and I would think they could be affiliate members. No idea on swimming. Or I suppose they could drop both as it would be a roughly equal scholarship loss. This looks about right to me. In the future I see Crookston moving down to DIII and joining Morris in the UMAC. If the DAC moves up to DII, I could see Northern State and Mary moving to that conference and then possibly U Sioux Falls in the NSIC as a travel partnet for Augi.
  15. Haha! Still doing whatever you can to slight USD. It must eat you up inside that they're going DI.
  16. It may not be as good as the Fargodome, but it looks like a good football facility.
  17. The dome is good for football. They need a new bball arena. The exact situation NDSU is in.
  18. Will UND and USD partner up as NDSU and SDSU did or will they be separate?
  19. Just curious on your guy's thoughts. There is another school that had to give up its indian nickname, I forget who, and instead of choosing a new nickname simply decided to not have one. They would just be known as "______ University". If UND loses its court case against the NCAA, would UND simply be known as UND rather than picking a new nickname? The football uniforms are mostly the ND logo. You'd need to replace the football endzones, but you want new turf anyway, right? Or do you think it'd be better to pick a new nickname?
  20. They'll probably say that with baseball, softball, and M/W swiming, you'd be a better fit for the Mid Con than the Big Sky. Not to mention the 2 closest Mid Con teams are 1.5 and 4.5 hours away vs. the 2 cloestest Big Sky teams being 13.5 and 16.5 hours away.
  21. This is what I was thinking: DAC 10 - Minot St Dickinson St Mayville St Valley City St Mary Jamestown Dakota State Black Hills State SD Tech Northern State NSIC - Saint Cloud Mankato Winona Moorhead Bimidji SW St Concordia Wayne Upper Iowa Augi Sioux Falls Duluth Crookston goes DIII and joins Morris in the UMAC. Both the DAC and the NSIC would be DII. Perhaps the DAC would be DII-AA for football and the NSIC DII-A, assuming they split the division like that.
  22. Mark this down: UND and USD to the mid con as travel partners.
  23. http://www.in-forum.com/Sports/articles/146345 Well, things are a bit clearer now. Assuming USD goes DI, UNO goes MIAA, and Augi goes to the NSIC, the NCC will be down to Saint Cloud, Duluth, and Mankato, who all could go to the NSIC, I think. That would put the NSIC at 14 members, though. Probably a bit much. Perhaps Crookston and Mary will join a DII DAC conference in the future. Maybe Northern State as well. And then U Sioux Falls could join the NSIC with Augi for a 12 member conferece: Moorhead Bemidji Marshall Winona Saint Cloud Mankato Duluth Augi Sioux Falls Concordia Wayne Upper Iowa
  24. You were? About what? USD moving up?
  25. A core member is merely any team that has been in DI for 13 years. They can be independant those years if they want.
