  1. Letter of interest is not an application. If it was from someone who is already inside the UND circles, it is a good idea to leave them out of this round. UND needs a new direction brought by someone who is from outside the current UND circles.
  2. Just like anything: you are either adapting to the new standard or falling behind your competitors. There is no such thing as just staying the same and that's what hiring an insider is, staying the same.
  3. Wow. I can tell how resistant to outsiders the UND community is just from reading this thread. My suggestion to the new AD is this: if anyone in the athletic department doesn't get behind you and your new vision for UND, cut them immediately. Clean the whole house if you need to. Get rid of all the holdovers and get your own people in there if you can't trust them.
  4. This is too important of a juncture in UND's move to DI to stick with the old "hire from within" routine. Outsiders bring fresh ideas and fresh perspectives. UND needs to hire from outside on this one, like they did with the president.
  5. If UND is going to throw its weight behind the Alerus for football, then it makes sense to have the practice facility next to the Alerus.
  6. Naturally, Dan wants UND to get an AD who has experience with the rivalry in the hopes it will postpone future NDSU/UND games for as long as possible. When the time comes for NDSU to get a new president or AD, no doubt they should bring someone in from the outside who can present fresh ideas.
  7. I think it would be better for UND and the state of ND in general if the new UND president and AD both had no prior experience with "the rivalry".
  8. I agree with that on a logical basis. But what is the premier basketball facility in the state? Since, I would assume that class B basketball players should have the opportunity to play in it as hockey players do in the Ralph.
  9. They live in Fairhope, which is seeing some growth as well. My cousin goes to USA. They have a nice campus. Too bad they don't have a decent on campus stadium. Ladd is in a scary neighborhood! Don't stick around too long after the game is over! I used to have other family near Pensacola as well. Pace, FL to be exact. That area was also seeing growth (I was last there probably 5 years ago).
  10. Mobile? I have family on the other side of the bay.
  11. I know NDSU's games with Nicholls and Northwestern St in 2004 were the first game of a home/home. Is there any reason to think that the games at SELA and McNeese aren't home/home?
  12. If UND got another 10 million in donations...it's just not fair! If that's true, I'd like to see where UND ranks on multimillion dollar donations.
  13. The state of ND is held to a higher standard in football.
  14. Actually, you tried to this season. San Diego and Butler backed out.
  15. Put in that light, you essentially traded an away game with Davis for a home game with Poly. Davis would not have scheduled you has you not been in the GW this year.
  16. So you've invited Burke (who has been at Wyoming, UTEP and Marshall), Hickman (who has been at Missouri), Leonard (who has been at Illinois State, Boise State and Central Florida), Sadler (who has been at Hawaii) and Faison (who has been at New Mexico State, Indiana State, Louisville, Illinois State and Missouri). Or are there more?
  17. McFeely has it absolutely correct. NDSU needs to let the bad blood wash down the river, under the bridge and start fresh with UND's new administration.
  18. Faison looks like he has a lot of experience.
  19. For which engineering dept.? As I said, UND can keep the Geo Eng, Chem Eng and Aero Eng depts.
  20. Having grad students do work is nice, but not required for the park to succeed.
  21. I can see why Kupchella did what he did. He knew as a fact that if NDSU got more money it would be a direct withdrawl from UND's budget. The NDUS needs to sack up and cut funding to the rest of the 9 junior college in the state. To make up the difference.
  22. In other words, no new teaching facilities. Just research facilities. You certainly would not have to close any research facilities that you have, on or off campus. Basically I'm proposing, in an act of good faith partnership and duplicity elimination within the NDUS, that UND closes the depts. of ME, EE and CivE within the School of Mines and that NDSU closes the depts. of Nursing, Clinical Laboratory Science, Radiologic Sciences and Respiratory Care within the College of Pharmacy and the dept. of Geology within the College of Science and Math.
  23. I miss read. I thought you had 6 away and 5 home. Still, if you guys want to travel to UND, the GW should let you.
  24. The 5th home game must be South Dakota. If Poly wants to play UND in SLO, I say let them.
  25. What new engineering facilities have you built? NDSU is constructing a whole new downtown campus. That more than anything is the investment I'm talking about.
