Perhaps this is stating the obvious...but I will state it anyway. A National Championship could build a whole bunch of instant credibility for Coach Hakstol et al. With the talent this "new staff" has, this would be a great season to capitalze on said talent and springboard into the next chapter of UND Hockey! THE HAKSTOL ERA a.ka. THE HAK ATTACK! Once again I will say.....thank goodness for FIGHTING SIOUX HOCKEY!!!!!!!! You can have that NHL "I'll try and buy a Stanley Cup"crap. I would take attending one WCHA game over 50 NHL games......just my opinion!

I will be at the DECC cheering on the Sioux Friday night and relying on this web site Saturday night for updates.

A nice rink that is somewhat centrally located that is also close to Joe Senser's (for after game pops) is the Bloomington Ice Garden. Weekdays 3 -9:45 p.m. Weekends 6 a.m. - 9:45 p.m. The rate for 1.5 hours would be $217 + tax = $231.64 or $115.82 / team. Just thought I would throw that out there for ya!

dagies, nice observations. I too was at the game; I felt the Sioux played well after the first 5:00 of the game. Looked like the Sioux really attacked the play well. Look GREAT shorthanded, I think I heard that stat of only 2 shots for SCSU on 5 powerplays!! Nice! It looked like the ice was a bit soft, pucks were bouncing all over the place, wierd hops. Player wise,Bo was the MAN tonight no dobut, would have been the full deal had he put that snapper a few inches lower off the draw in OT to win it! One point is good, but I think SCSU stole a point from the Sioux, because in my opinion UND is a much much better team than SCSU even without Parise, Murray and Stafford. I will not be at the game tommorow (wish I were); I really think the Sioux can pull three points out of this series. The Sioux need to get on Coole early and often and get the first goal of the game and take control of the flow for 60 minutes. I think the 4th line could be the determining factor Sat. night. As no doubt SCSU will key in on Bo and Co.

C'mon ScottM I was really trying to get the pot stirred up for the season opener with the Rodents from Minnehopeless. I agree we should not get bent on this, but I think it is a clear point of the envy some/all Gopher fans have of the FIGHTING SIOUX and the tradition of hockey excellence in Grand Forks!

After watching the Bulldogs in Grand Forks, I feel they look like a team poised to be a serious contender in the WCHA. It all starts at goaltending; and with Reichmuth the Dogs will win games because he will give them the opprotunity to. Snipers like Lessard and Stapleton will get their share of goals in the WCHA. I look for a split, though I would love to see a UND Sweep!!!!

I have never met Zach, but from what I have read about this outstanding young man, I would think he is looking towards the Team Accomplishments (i.e. National Championships) as opposed to the Personal Accomplishments that the FANS seem to make a bigger deal out of. Congrats to Mr. Vanek.
