  1. The entire state vis a vis its legislative process should be considered complicit, and "punished" accordingly. And that logic would probably appeal to the eggheads that run the NC$$, as well as their bedwetting adherents in academia.
  2. That would require Clueless Al to admit he screwed up in the first place. I am, however, warming to the idea of petitioning the NC$$ to put the entire state under sanction as a result of legislative action, ala Mississippi and South Carolina.
  3. Apparently being dropped from schedules and meets isn't enough for some people ...
  4. More accurately, SL should have acted on its "rights" with regard to the Sioux moniker 6-7 years ago.
  5. If you follow that theory, you're going to be sorely disappointed a good deal of the time.
  6. Did Reed talk about Divine Providence? That's always a winner ...
  7. To do otherwise would render the NC$$ subject to charges of hypocrisy ... oh, wait. I do like the idea though. Perhaps a petition to the NC$$ is in order.
  8. You mean they're going to move to Vancouver or Raleigh?
  9. I think the critical distinction is that the board's actions regarding the Sioux moniker were in conflict with the legislature's. I agree that on any number of legislative issues, the Board did nothing in response or contrary to the statute, and arguably waived its authority on those matters. However, I would submit that if there is indeed a conflict between Board action and legislative action that the constitutional power of the board may provide them the greater leverage.
  10. Kind of like when Minnesota's Board of Regents gets turned into a political pinata nearly every legislative session?
  11. You don't think Carlson's Folly wasn't a baldfaced power grab by somebody pushing his personal agenda? Really, even after all of the noise he made about about the Board's constitutional perogatives toward higher ed? And you don't think the court should recognize its original jurisdiction when there is a clear tension between the legislative and executive branches?
  12. Perhaps you should take up that "abuse of power" with Clueless Al.
  13. Which goes to my earlier point, the 'SU fans seem to get it when it comes to understanding the sanctions' effects on UND. Their comments and motivations in voting "Yes" should really give thinking moniker supporters pause.
  14. And the sad fact is that the 'SU supporters seem to grasp the impacts of the NC$$ sanctions on UND more than some people on this board, or in the state electorate.
  15. You sound like some "end of days" preacher on TV. And about as delusional and entertaining as well.
  16. Bad drugs?
  17. I agree, but I thought we were going to form an angry, somewhat disorganized, mob and just run him out of town ...
  18. Too bad Elaine's is closed too. Marylin would probably be a "star" ... I'd love to read of her meeting Madonna or Al Pacino there.
  19. Fargo's on its way to becoming the next Topeka. I first read Marylin's review on Fark, and my first thought was "She's still alive?" To her credit, she's been very gracious in the interviews I've seen. Perhaps she can review Four Seasons or the Gotham Bar and Grill ... you gotta love places than don't always price their offerings in the menus.
  20. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203370604577265773038268282.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop Nodak gets some love in The Wall Street Journal
  21. I'm with you. Without getting "political", I've always thought the reservation system was merely an American form of Apartheid ...
  22. Maybe Lakes works for the NC$$ ...
  23. It has nothing to do with the recall effort, so much as the internal poltiics, e.g., filling various programs with cronies, family members, etc. My brother-in-law is an enrolled SR member, and he's told that's how they roll. Charlie probably "insulted" somebody's cousin, and now he's a target.
  24. And yet some would still have the University's use of the Sioux moniker held hostage to that type of third-world political garbage ...
  25. I've always been curious why NoDak's congressional delegation has said nothing about this matter. Not in 2005 and not now. Perhaps if Clueless Al wanted to run for congress, he could "run against the NC$$" and probably have a good chance of winning.
