Wow, not at all on my radar somehow. One of those years, I guess! I'll see if I can set it up tonight!

Found it. It's a new feature. It just kicks in (by default) on threads with more than 3 pages. Rather than disable it altogether, I moved it just below the first post on computers, the same as mobile. If we don't like that, I can always disable it altogether in the future, but let's try this for a few days.

Oh, I see. But I don't see that in this (admin) forum. Interesting. I'll see what I can do.

There was a version upgrade of the software, but there isn't supposed to be any significant change in layout. On a laptop, on the front page (index of forums) I see a right-hand column with recent posts, popular posts, etc..., but that's always been there. For the people who see the empty space, is that on a computer? Do you see the recent/popular posts column?

Sorry it took me a while (it was a significant topic of discussion on google threads that lots of people were struggling with the same problem, just one example), but I think I finally have it addressed. The single ad per page should be back to its previous, svelte self. Feedback always welcome!
-
It's just a single generic google ad that tries to "dynamically" fill the width. So, I'm guessing this particular hoverboard vendor bought an ad that was more square shaped than normal (ads of that particular width are probably usually wide short rectangles). That does seem kind of obnoxious, I'll look to see if I can restrict the maximum height they can take.

And now we know the cause of the security alert... dude, just go back to Danny's in Columbus.

Fixed for now by rebooting. The certificate was updated as per its usual schedule, so I'm going to have to figure out what went wrong behind the scenes.
-
Final results Congratulations to Brucesky02 and CLASSY FREDDIE BLASSIE for tying for first! An honorable mention to UNDBIZ for getting the most individual picks correct, but missing the championship game winner knocked him out.

Not participating is how the Caps finally won Maybe I should pick a bunch of Lightning this year!

Goodbye to a SiouxSports Friend * Godspeed, sprig
jimdahl replied to MafiaMan's topic in Men's Hockey
MafiaMan and I are putting together a small token of remembrance from the community, I'm thinking a floral arrangement for the service. If you'd like to be a part of it, PM me. I'd prefer not to clog the remembrance thread with it. Thanks. -

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know Tim personally, but certainly knew @sprig, the loyal Sioux fan and a pillar of the SiouxSports community. He was one of the original members, back in 2001, and has been a consistent and prolific presence in the community, liked by all. He will be missed. -
Leaderboard UNDBIZ and Petey19 take the lead with each having two misses in the first round and both chosen Frozen Four teams correct. But, Petey19 has already lost one of his remaining Frozen Four teams (Northeastern), and there are a lot of people just 1-2 picks behind.

Oh, and in case anyone's wondering, the 4 people who picked American Int'l are: SiouxFan100 Brucesky02 Siouxpoib Kooshnitz But, all missed one other first night game.

Well, no one got all 4, but 49 of us got 3! Bracket challenge leaderboard

Oh, I see what you're saying. They're labeled wrong. My fault for just copying the NCAA brackets where they go 1-4, 3-2 (and I instead assumed 2-3). Given that's just cosmetic, doesn't affect the picks, I'll just see if I can swap the labels around.

I just finished setting it up, so as usual, check it out and let me know if anything isn't working right or I got any matchups wrong: https://siouxsports.com/hockey/bracket.php Who will join the illustrious list of winner below? 2018 01grad 2017 UND-1, Oxbow6, Redneksioux, iluvdebbies, Stms 2016 UND1981 / stack / nhockey30 / ringneck28 / bigskyvikes (UND National Championship year) 2015 WiSioux 2014 johndahl 2013 FSSD/Brainerd Sioux 2012 mj3und 2011 tho0505 2009 Big A HG 2008 willtippen 2007 seanpc03 2006 teamsioux 2005 mynameiscuomo 2004 paul62/BigGreyAnt41/brew003/UP2SKI

A couple additional thoughts on UND... UND's PWR position has a couple interesting deviations from following RPI--because we're already winning the comparison against Union, we can't climb a spot by flipping that (UND is below Union in the rankings because we lose the comparison to Canisius, which we can't reverse). So, the three comparisons actually in play are Bowling Green, Notre Dame, and Denver (which UND would flip by winning 2, but not if it takes 3 games!) The path to #15 this weekend is pretty much what everyone else said, I just thought the "why" might interest some.
-
Exactly right. Most important of those two is the teams we're fighting for bubble spots. UND really needs some of #9-#19 to get out of its way (in that group, only Western can't be flipped on RPI), so cheer against them. UND PWR details
-
Western Michigan PWR trend - Were 9th going into CC, but you can't lose 3 of 4 when you're 9th and expect to stay there.
-
Yeah, the thing about UND's position in PWR is that they lose all but 1 of the 12 comparisons above them on the sole basis of RPI, with only ~.02 separating them from #8 (UND RPI details). So, their position is very volatile with different game outcomes. It's still possible to climb toward the bubble (e.g. #15-16) with a pair of wins this weekend, but it will also take some luck on other outcomes.

Got it. Two things made this year challenging for the score scrapers that have worked well for the last 5 years or so--1) UND's quasi-Big Sky status resulted in the Big Sky schedule only containing games vs. Big Sky opponents, forcing me to scramble for other data sources; 2) Big Sky changed their web site to reformat the way they present result. Both issues were affecting the standings. I previously checked to make sure both teams were conference members before allowing a game to count toward conference stats, which doesn't work with games vs. UND this year; and the revised data format resulted in me not properly capturing Big Sky's indicator of which games count as conference games. I think it's all fixed now, but continue to let me know of problems. Thanks!
