  1. There's a big old tie for 1st... for now. http://siouxsports.com/hockey/bracketleaders.php
  2. I see what you're saying. Here's the hit. https://twitter.com/siouxsports/status/581649314054803456 I feel like stuff like that gets by without a 5 all the time. On the other hand, it was a dangerous hit.
  3. UND's season ends short of a national championship more often than not, we're pretty used to the routine: Goon starts his semiannual "Fire Hak" thread. That thread and the game thread are flooded with taunting Minnesota/SCSU/UMD fans, who the moderators actually clear out pretty quickly. A few UND fans question how many years Hak gets without winning the big one, dozens of UND fans respond by filling the threads with outrage that people aren't supporting the team and wondering why the moderators aren't doing their jobs. Things slow down as the evening goes on, but posts also become less comprehensible and start to look like, "!@#$ woog ##!@%% Blais lollilop boston !@%#@ HOLY CROSS!!! HAHA". Rivals' fan boards fill with smug fans saying things like, "can you believe those rubes at SiouxSports? epic meltdown!" (which will quickly be forgotten when the operator of their own board actually does shut down for 12 hours following their own loss the next night.) In the morning everyone wakes up fine and Goon assures us that he was just kidding with the Fire Hak thread.
  4. I probably have insufficient hamsters to handle the crush of Gopher and St Cloud St fans that would show up following that outcome. But that might be ok with me.
  5. I took everything down for about 15 minutes yesterday morning to add some new capacity. We now have 4x the usual number of hamsters behind SiouxSports.com, so hopefully that will keep up with the tournament crush. Have at it
  6. This Dave guy is getting pretty famous, someone like CHN should pick him up.
  7. 140 character description? Votes will clearly be submitted via Twitter.
  8. We calculate both straight (number of picks correct) and performance (correct picks earn 1 pt in regional semifinals, 2 pts in regional finals, 4 pts in Frozen Four semifinals, and 8 pts in Frozen Four final). The one that goes into the history books is the winner of the performance scoring. So, get the national champ right!
  9. Yes, when I click the title it jumps me to where I was. Are you logged in on the phone?
  10. The current limit is exactly 1MB, so you were probably just over it.
  11. Correct, on any mobile device you're probably being pushed to the mobile skin, so first need to switch to full version.
  12. Here are the picks so far: Consensus picks
  13. The changes I mentioned in my previous post should also make it work for mobile devices (as long as they support file uploads). On my iPhone, when I hit "choose file" it prompts me to take a photo/video or choose from my photo library.
  14. Ok, I enabled file uploading for all the forums. So, when you want to attach something from your computer you can do it directly to the forum instead of having to go through an image uploading service. At the bottom of the compose window, there's an "Attach files" section. You click "Choose file" to choose a local file then "Attach this file" to upload it. If you don't see the attach files section, you might be in quick reply mode and have to hit the "more options" button to get to full mode.
  15. With my usual disclaimer that I'm not a mathematician, given that we care about the ratios between the numbers I'd be tempted to find the average team strength by taking a geometric mean (e.g. the 4th root of the product of them all, rather than the sum of them all). That would give: East (Providence): 284 Midwest (South Bend): 193 West (Fargo): 327 Northeast (Manchester): 276 If an appropriate way to average them, that would make an even more convincing case of the strength of the Fargo regional.
  16. Type in your username/password and hit the "load" button to see your saved picks. Each time you save with a particular account, it overwrites any previous submissions from that account (i.e. only the most recent one is saved).
  17. Though there's a bit of a homer tendency, not nearly as much as you might think. About 8% picked Union last year, which isn't wildly out of line (KRACH gave them about a 16% chance).
  18. I made a slight change that might help with that. Previously the link above my post was working on iPhone while the one below the post wasn't.
  19. Ok, I think it's working. Took me until this morning because this is the first time in recent memory that they matched up Midwest/East, so I didn't have a bracket lying around with that particular configuration. Let me know if you run into glitches, otherwise I'll post the link on the home page later today.
  20. Enter your 2015 bracket! Who can forget this near-perfect traitorous bracket last year by SiouxSports's own johndahl? Who will join the illustrious list below? 2014 johndahl 2013 FSSD/Brainerd Sioux 2012 mj3und 2011 tho0505 2009 Big A HG 2008 willtippen 2007 seanpc03 2006 teamsioux 2005 mynameiscuomo 2004 paul62/BigGreyAnt41/brew003/UP2SKI Enter your 2015 bracket!
  21. Washington gets its first ever win at Xcel (2nd is GWG) Even Ovi hates gotta admit, those were pretty goals.
  22. Disclaimer: I have absolutely nothing to do with this project. This is probably it guys, last chance for commemorative SiouxSports.com merchandise before we become UNDGreenPajamasFans.com. I bought one with "jimdahl" on the back. They're great for road trips--who doesn't want to look like this guy?
  23. Last night's game goes the other way and it would have been a 3 point gap between Caps and NYR. That's part of why so many people were viewing these three games as important -- in addition to being a good test of playoff style hockey, they were big in the standings for both teams.
  24. Yeah, that was a maddening 3rd. Can't wait to see the next two, those are the games Washington has to learn how to win in the playoffs.
  25. Let's keep it about the topic and not each other (going both ways, this is just the post I happened to quote). Thanks.
