Well, what you're actually seeing is that he made no picks and got them all wrong, but that's not what really happened. You can either make picks with a message board account or an arbitrary name (you can't use an arbitrary name that is in use as a message board account, for obvious reasons). He made picks with an arbitrary name, but subsequently registered for that name as a message board account. That had no effect on scoring (which evaluates each set of picks one-by-one), but does mess up that display (which retrieves a single user's picks by name, manthey00 now points to a message board account that has no picks associated with it). That glitch has never come up in the past, and I first saw it about a day before leaving for the FF. I'll definitely give it some thought before next year...

Phil's opinions about North Dakota aside, this quote struck me: Though I guess his "impression" is born of faculty opposition and the 2000 controversy, the point that the NCAA pressure makes UND feel corned and humiliated is very true. A lot of alums I talk to are in the group of not seeing what the big deal is, but sure as hell don't want the NCAA bossing UND around and telling us we're hostile and abusive. I think many of us wouldn't mind a change to another Dakota-based moniker if all the constituents agreed it were the right thing to do, but no one wants it forced on the institution by some PC-activists at the NCAA.

There are lots of such sites, one of the most popular of which is photobucket.com.

The standings are there for all to see! There were two clear winners. teamsioux took an easy 1st place in both scoring systems by only missing 2 games, both in the first round. He predicted the Frozen Four participants and game outcomes perfectly. The unregistered user "manthey00" took second. Today someone just attempted to register as manthey00, so if you're the same person just confirm your identity by sending me an email with the password you used to save your picks (send a note from the feedback page). Success by UND and Wisconsin plus Gopher disaster led to Gopher fans bringing up the rear of the scoreboard, and I amply proved the game isn't fixed.

I consider the following to be pretty representative of the college hockey world - "Watershed moment for college hockey" - CHN front page "one of the most stunning upsets in the history of college hockey" - Scott Brown, USCHO "That's the biggest upset I can remember in 20 years of college hockey" - Red Berenson to INCH "The biggest upset in NCAA hockey history the media is saying. The media is right...." - Jupiter, GopherPuckLive.com "Holy Cross' win was simply a great thing for college hockey." - Adam Woden, INCH "The bottom line is that their win is good for college hockey. These [newer] teams, these leagues are getting better." - Don Lucia, USCHO I wouldn't have been happy to have the breakout occur against my favorite team, either, but I think the excitement escaped a wee bit beyond the borders of Grand Forks.

I agree, the way these usually go is pep band marches in and plays, UND officials give speeches, cheerleaders cheer. It is a bar/restaurant and there will be plenty of people standing around drinking, but if that doesn't bother you, it's not in any other way kid-unfriendly.

There's a forum specifically dedicated to tickets. If you made a post trying to buy/sell tickets in this forum that you don't see anymore, it was probably moved there. Welcome to the board!

This was on the front hockey page, but you might have missed it: Hrkac's memories frozen in time

Some people cheer for their their conference only second to their own team. Other people cheer for anyone playing against their rivals. I don't think one group is "better" fans than the other and I don't begrudge either group among opponents. As to wearing an HC jersey to a Minnesota game, I don't think ribbing a rival is really a sign of evil malice, either. You make fun of your buddy for that stupid thing he did when he got drunk in Tijuana, but that doesn't mean you're a big jerk who hates your buddy. I personally appreciate the sincere wishes of luck and find making such a wish to be very sportsmanlike, whether you want that opponent to win or not. As redwing said, I'm going to be nervous if I don't see our best play and a little luck on the side...

You could start browsing the galleries at: http://siouxsports.com/photos/ (Though the player search DOES work, the photos get tagged in batches so you will want to look through galleries back to the Final Five manually). Update -- Uncle Rico's personal site

It's about one block from the Bradley Center.

So ESPN actually used HD cameras at the Frozen Four, not just broadcasting the standard signal on the HD channel? I noticed a lot of the basketball tournament had letterboxed SD pictures on HD CBS this year. I'll have to set up the HD DVR and try to catch them. Of course, there's no good media to record an HD program to yet, I guess you just leave it on the hard drive until HD-DVD or BluRay catches on.

Given how active the topic has stayed on the board this week, I had been wondering when G.F. media would take the hint and pick up the story.

There's the official response from Jupiter, that's probably enough of this thread.

SiouxSports.com is going pro after the tourney, we're becoming "OvechkinVille", all Ovie all-the-time. Anyone notice on NHL.com that they added a "NHL Player Sites" link beside the "Team Sites" and "Affiliate Sites"? The only player with his own website is Crosby...

No kidding. I've been tempted to argue this point in some of the "told you so" threads dredged up in recent weeks, but is there really so much nobility in not complaining when the team is slumping? When the team is getting swept at home by lesser talent, fans are going to be upset about it and discuss it. I just don't see how that now creates a "told you so" moment for those who only show up when things are going well. Everyone wanted the team to turn around and be playing well in March, I might even argue that those who bothered to continue discussing the team during a slump wanted it more!

Though my tale of woe is already well documented, here's the key excerpt: Just add '05 to the list as the first intersection between the Sioux making it and me making it. Bids to keep me away are currently being accepted...

That's the plot of SuperMan III, subsequently given an homage by Office Space (not a ripoff, because they acknowledged SuperMan III when coming up with the crazy scheme).
