    Dru trial

That is a good point, but we're comparing apples and oranges. Alfonso did it...he may as well have been standing over her body when they found it. Now, what you're saying as far being accused and being innocent...I totally agree. I wasn't suggesting that they just convict him RIGHT now based on evidence that they found and his testimony. I was merely pointing out that I can see where WildSioux was getting antsy in this whole trial. It kind of sucks that something that seems so open and shut can be carried out for YEARS!!! Yes, it's beneficial if you're on trial for something that you know you did not do....but that is not the case here.

    Dru trial

All due respect here, cause after all, this is a very opinionated site..... But this guy is a piece of !@$! that stinks so bad you'd throw your shoes away if you stepped in him....c'mon, why are we even defending the man when it comes to talking about giving him a fair trial? He's a sleazy, sex offending murderer....LOOK AT HIM!!! Granted, WildSioux may have gotten a little carried away....but it's easy to see where he's coming from. I do agree that the man needs a fair trial cause it's every American citizen's right (and hopefully he gets one so that we can finally put an end to the charade). But I don't think that I'd throw a fit if they just said "GUILTY!!!!" I bartended at Dagwood's around the time that Dru disappeared and the whole county was looking for her. Being the great guy that he is, Mike Delhorey opened his kitchen to the Sjodin family...long story short, I saw her family alot during the weeks that she was missing. It was hard watching how miserable her family was, the pain they must have been going through...I truly felt for them. I didn't know Dru personally, but after witnessing first hand how this was affecting the family, to think that somebody--some human being actually was capable of doing something like this to a beautiful, innocent, young woman...it's enough to make a guy want to go on a vigilante mission....so I can see where WildSioux is calling for blood. One more thing to say, and then I'll get off my soapbox. The point I'm trying to make is this: ask yourself how bad you'd want a fair trial for this guy if it was YOUR daughter that he tortured and killed....cause I'd want justice to be served by the end of my 12 gauge.
  3. I'm still laughing at this one....HILARIOUS!!!

    I spy...

    That's good stuff PCM....
  5. Does this mean that I might not have been good enough to play at the DI level, or does this have something to do with classroom/athletic standards that I wouldn't have met? I don't get it....please explain what this implies.
  6. I couldn't have said this better myself....except I would've said C's into B's!! I could've spent more time worrying about reading or studying rather than making a shift. My first year scholarship barely bought my books!
  7. I don't think that we should play for the nickel anymore...that era has ended and we all know who won the last contest for that. I do think that we should play for something though....just not anything called the "Fiddy." P.S. The "Fiddy-cent" was a pretty funny idea!
  8. ....or next to your yellow jumper and big red shoes!!
  9. I had heard that the one "idiot" that got tackled said that if the bat boy had hurt him, he would've sued...kinda funny that he would say something like that considering what he did was illegal and he HAD to expect that there would be some force involved when they finally did catch him. I'm guessing that he didn't figure the bat boy of all people would be the one to spear him!! Makes everything sweeter to learn that the BB was a UND alum!! Maybe we should send the footage of the tackle to the NDSU football team...
  10. I apologize but I had to drag this post out of a different thread. I just wanted to thank Siouxmenow for this post. You hit the nail on the head with this one...this is PERFECT!!!
  11. Best post on here. Ralph (from what I know about him) was a pretty good guy....took care of his univerisity and the program that he used to be a part of. This thing is getting old. This is just another way of rival schools gathering up material for them to throw in our face. Doesn't change the fact that our hockey team is LEGIT and the goophers finished their season with a loss to HOLY CROSS!
  12. I got some more news to share, and thought I'd give an update on Big D: I got the opportunity to talk to Brian today. He is apparently up and moving around (with assistance) and is able to comprehend people and form complete sentences. It will take a lot of hard work on his part to regain all of the normal motor skills, but I have been told that he is expected (with time) to make a full recovery. Again, any contribution you can make to help alleviate the financial situation the DeVillers family will incur would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  13. This is complete and total sarcasm....something like this could and would never happen.
  14. I've got some more word on Big D this afternoon.... They did take him off of the medically induced coma they had him on--he's now starting to put together some complete sentences, they're taking the stomach tube out, and he appears to have most, if not all of his motor skills returning. Sounds like things are starting to look up again. I don't really know much about this viral menace, and was wondering if SiouxMD (I'm assuming that means you're a doctor) could fill me in on what exactly this is, what causes (spreads) it, and why it has the capabilities of causing brain damage and claiming lives.
  15. Big D is struggling a little bit, but he's hanging in there. Apparently he's having a hard time coming out of the coma, but a MRI showed no swelling on the brain. At this point all we can do is wait and pray. WE'RE THINKING OF YOU BIG D!!
  16. What are you doing posting on this site at 2:26am? Get a life!
  17. Final score UMD 5---UND 4 Tying run on third with 1 out in top of ninth. A strikeout and fly out to center put any chances of a comeback to bed. Correction from my earlier post: Sioux will play the loser of the Augustana/Mankato St. game which starts at 3:30 this afternoon. Get em' tomorrow Sioux!
  18. The Sioux are down 5-2 (to UMD) in the bottom of the eighth inning.....if the score holds up, they'll play the loser of the SCSU/Augustana game (which was 6-5 Auggie top 6) tomorrow at 11:00 am.
  19. I do feel like the program is gonna have a very hard time surviving if there is a status change at the University of North Dakota. There are plenty of alumni that give very generously to this program, but I just don't think that it would be enough to keep the team afloat. The situation with their field I think is the ultimate "back-breaker" in this scenario. To explain: I think that if the Sioux had a facility like the Bison do, a jump (although still very difficult) would be feasible. There is a lot of talent in the area that could possibly play at the DI level, JUCO transfers would be more attracted to come play based on status, and we're fine with equipment, practice facilities....ect. Money, of course, is gonna be an issue. I don't claim to know the "in's and out's" of being an athletic director and budgeting for an entire University--but I do think that they could make it work. There isn't a "Ralph Englestad" in the baseball alumni--so any thought of a former player building a new field is out of the question. I don't really see a solution to this problem unless the University or the city of Grand Forks decides that it's time to build a new field. I don't know that I'd have a response to baseball being cut. I'd be thoroughly dissapointed, but aside from that, I wouldn't really know what to do. Maybe I'll have to put a rally together and go picket or something.....tie ourselves to the Hyslop until they fund the program properly.
  20. Sooooo......what does this mean? Will they have to change the name, will they just drop it and not use one, will they still use "Sioux" just not in playoffs......what?
  21. Sioux beat down by Beavers, 10-2. What in the "sam h-e double hockey sticks" is going on here? In the past, UND has dropped one, MAYBE two to BSU in a four-game set, and even then the games weren't as lop-sided as this one.....I'm starting to get sick to my stomach reading all this. Is Zig really missing that much talent this year, or are these guys not playing together---or both?
  22. Also, one other thing that I wanted to mention about the recruiting. UND (and almost every other school in the NCC for the last 5-10 years) has had some DI talent...every team has got a couple guys that could've played at that level. The difference is because of the location and the status, you're not gonna get ALL of the kids capable of playing DI in your area. UND has already lost some good recruits to teams such as NDSU, UNC, and SDSU...because they WANT TO PLAY DI, it's all about status to some of these kids. Take a look at Ross Olson (for those of you who don't know, Olson was a premier hitter at UND with brute, farm-boy strength). Ross went to play in the Northwoods league in the summer of 2005. A couple of his teammates were from a small DI team in Texas--long story short, they basically recruited him--and now he's a member of Dallas Baptist, all because of the status (probably the weather too, but he's from Roseau....so he should've been used to it here). The point I'm trying to make here is, I really think that with a status change, you're gonna be able to get better talent. You may not miss out on guys like Aaron Marsden (UND was high on his list till Nebraska came calling), and the Shirek boys.....would they've committed to UND if it was DI at the time? I don't know, but I bet they'd at least have considered it.
