So let's start scheduling regular visits and elective surgeries again. I know of someone that has had her post-cancer treatment scans delayed two months so far because of this and she'd like to get this taken care of to make sure the cancer has not returned.

In ND I believe daycare facilities are allowed to be fully open. Most are smaller so not as big of a problem but I think the larger ones could pose some problems.
-
The nursing homes appear to be scrambling to figure out how to prevent the infections from entering their facilities. Thankfully ND was one of the four states that will have mass testing at long term care facilities to weed out asymptomatic carriers. Even though we don't believe this is harmful to kids you still can't allow schools to become covid petri dishes. This would spread to all students' families since you can't isolate kids from their parents. We still need more PPE but with mass testing/contact tracing/quarantines for infected, schools should finally be allowed to open.

Never said that!

I'm still trying to figure out the LM debacle in Grand Forks. Employees were filing complaints with the city weeks before the closure. The mayor assigned the EDC director to investigate. What does the EDC know about public and worker health? Why was this shrugged off with a single phone call to LM saying all is well. How is our government at every level completely unprepared for anything thrown at them?
-
If we are going to begin to open things up in the state we need to have the capacity to contract trace and test. Yeah this is on the general public to get tested if you show symptoms but if there is contract tracing to be done we need to get it done.
-
In the Grand Forks area if they are truly using contact tracing there will be a ton of people to test. 900 LM employees, all of their family members, and contacts from the past few weeks. I suspect some are a little overwhelmed and the fact that people aren't getting tested on their own means more work ahead for the dept of health.
-
Yeah it seemed a little odd, and then he encouraged people to press their providers to get them tested if they want to be tested. If the testing resources are available, why aren't more LM people getting tested? Why hasn't the mass testing at the state's long term care facilities started yet?
-
Anyone notice that Burgum granted local leaders authority to quarantine or set restrictions yesterday? I didn't realize they couldn't already do this, but it doesn't matter, now they have the authority. I'm curious what sparked this change. Were local leaders asking for this?

CDC is testing nursing homes for asymptomatic carriers in four states, ND is one of them. https://apple.news/ALUwIbcIYSGGGJG8GKkKzNw

LM has roughly 900 employees. They tested about 425 employees or contacts of employees last week. I believe there is plans to test more this week based on last week's results, but haven't heard much chatter on this since. I doubt we'll be getting any percentage stats shared of family members affected. The stats are already quite confusing as the some of the positives ended up as MN residents and some of the positives were from community spread from LM employees.
-
Agreed. But we operate off facts not fear:) We know there was an outbreak at LM. Why fear that it spread within the employee households?
-
It is the case. But Law Enforcement is saying they don't have the resources to enforce. They are also claiming HIPAA laws prevent them from verifying/identifying/enforcing.
-
I don’t know where you live but that’s not the current statement in North Dakota.
-
I'm sorry that the statement "if you are sick stay home" infringes on your rights, but it's the right thing to do.
-
Eventually people will realize. Yeah you got a virus? No you do not have the right to share it with others.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/government-and-politics/5382580-Protesters-demand-Burgum-reopens-business-at-North-Dakota-Capitol Protestors demand Burgum re-opens ND businesses Would the 150 people seen gathering at the capitol, many standing shoulder to shoulder and shaking hands, be considered idiots as well?
-
so in the near future 40-80% of our population will not be able to purchase a new life insurance policy?
-
For North Dakota? I'm pretty sure Burgum is going to follow the president's recommendation and make the first step after we've proven we are on the downturn for 14 days. Remember though, ND and Grand Forks is still almost fully open.
-
Well we could start with the president's recommendation of proving we are on the downturn for 14 days? Sorry but I have no clue when this will be as we've pretty much allowed this virus to spread like a wildfire up here. Yeah I know the arguments, it's just a cough, it's no worse than the flu, it only affects old people with underlying conditions, yada, yada. Just please don't be a tough guy in public. Don't be a social butterfly. And please wear a mask to prevent others from catching what you might have.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/5023484-Plain-Talk-The-governor-if-he-opens-up-is-not-going-to-kill-people This guy says the governor isn't going to kill people if he opens the state back up. It should be up to the business "when they feel they can protect their employees and customers" I wonder how well LM felt they were protecting their employees.
-
So who is the bigger idiot? The one who stays home to protect themselves and their loved ones from catching the virus, which also slows the spread to the community OR The one who goes into public with and refuses to wear a facemask to protect others
-
Dang that’s a good price for gas. We are paying 1.73 in ND.

If covid19 is such a minor blip when you look at the big picture, how can you explain the worldwide shortage on ppe and certain meds?
