When were masks bad? It's unfortunate we don't have enough N95's to protect people and we have leaders that want people to not wear them. How will kids forced to grow up with one parent or possibly no parent affect their neglect, hunger and abuse? Having an underlying health condition never was an instant death sentence until Covid19. Keep in mind this isn't just smoking grandma. 40% of the US population has a chronic disease according to the National Health Council.

The hill I want to die on? Simply replying that there is false information being shared here. Believe what you will though.
-
You see, that's incorrect. https://www.factcheck.org/2020/04/factchecking-trumps-attack-on-the-who/ "Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China," Nowhere did they claim it was not transmissible from human to human. They stated chinese authorities found no clear evidence of it. Should we start basing our decisions based on what China tells us? Know of any hospitals that don't put precautions in place for a respiratory virus? Maybe only in China?
-
I'm sure we can! When did the WHO claim covid19 was not transmittable from human to human?
-
I was also told by our president that Covid deaths would instantly be zero and it would miraculously be behind us.

https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provisional-COVID-19-Death-Counts-by-Sex-Age-and-S/9bhg-hcku Vastly higher? 19-20 US Covid deaths under 24 years of age - 58 19-20 US Influenza deaths under 24 years of age - 126 Add in the 25-34 year olds and Covid deaths are more than influeza. Keep in mind the first documented Covid death in the US was just 3 months ago. To top that off we now have children dealing with Kawasaki disease after recovering from Covid.

A quick google search shows 291,557 US lives were lost in WW2. And this spanned over 4 years. We've lost 75,000 so far to Covid19 with 2,000 daily still dying. Thankfully it has been mostly elderly with no future ahead of them though eh?
-
Do you recall a war the US had lost 75,000 people to? Or one that had 2,000 US citizens dying daily?

Is Antifa still a thing? Maybe these protesters need to start wearing masks if they're going to be screaming in police officers' faces. Would these cops be so calm if this crowd was black? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/05/05/michigan-capitol-building-protest-picture/5172876002/

I took his comment to not so much blame the caregiver....more of our society's opinion of the caregiver's civil rights being infringed upon.
-
Who blamed him/her? I don't even think cm said the friend was in a nursing home.
-
The nursing homes are going to take a hit. Unfortunately their resident counts will continue to decline. And who wants to send their loved away, to potentially never see them in person again?
-
Yeah it had more to do with LM encouraging people to work while sick during the pandemic and not providing protections to their employees. Also a crappy follow up by the city and OSHA on employee complaints. Now unfortunately others in the community are paying for it with their lives.
-
Better be careful, many here could accuse you of covid shaming the asymptomatic caregiver.
-
Now if we could only figure out how to keep those hornets from entering the skilled nursing facilities

Moe's on 32nd who always used to fail their health inspections? Doesn't surprise me!
-
Why do I feel like I just got done listening to 1310 AM's lame afternoon show?
-
Come on they were essential!
-
What?! I'd be interested in learning how an o2 mask and tank is going to slow the spread.
-
I'm sure we agree on alot. Keep in mind most infected with Covid are asymptomatic. Since we aren't sheltering in place, we need to take extra measures to make sure it doesn't spread like a wildfire. This means ramping up testing, contract tracing, and quarantining the known infected. And when you are out and about, please be considerate. Give people some space, don't go touching everything / don't bring your kids in the store to touch everything, and please wear a mask to protect others from what you might have. So far we've got some of the bases covered. But when we've got people coming out and saying nobody will force them to wear a mask in public since it's their civil liberty to walk around without a mask and accusing people of living in fear when they question our lack of testing....just have some common decency.
-
Maybe this will be a good learning experience to everyone. If you are sick, stay home!

You in Grand Forks? Where will you seek your medical care? How about buy your groceries?
-
You realize that the facemask requirement at local medical centers and many retailers is fairly new right? If you go to Altru will you refuse to wear a mask? How about Hugo's?
-
Well you better get prepared. Just don't do this when you are asked. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/05/04/security-guards-death-might-have-been-because-he-wouldnt-let-woman-store-without-mask/

Because we have no statistics on Covid19. It's starting to affect some kids, and we know nothing of it's long term affects on infected children. https://abc7ny.com/mystery-illness-children-coronavirus-nyc-update/6152212/
