No one has ever had more Championships than Michigan….until now!!

Better DU than Michigan.   Especially given the age of nearly all their titles.

Observe how DU handles the first 10 minutes of the 3rd period, & see how it differs from UND's style.

UND was something like 20 - 1 this year with a lead going into the 3rd.   Before MIchigan.  Still, hard to criticize the scheme based on those results.

Yeah, I find myself pulling for DU.   If they can beat this BC team (after beating BU), they deserve # 10.

DU playing well.  I don’t want to be a downer, but it feels like UND is miles away from being in a position to play in the title game.
Three whole wins in NCAAs to get a shot at the title?  Seems like such a huge hill for them to climb.  C’mon Berry, staff, and team, prove me wrong next year!

Both these teams are a step above where UND is.

That's how I saw it also, MI was down 3-0 in the 3rd & they were still flying around the ice. A lot of tenacity & pride in those guys and they played a full 60. No doubt a reflection of their coach, in part. Even though they lost, they left everything on the ice. That's all you can ask for as a coach & a fan. Despite them being one of the Axis of Evils, they did their school proud.

Agreed.  Michigan kept the pace and intensity up until it was over at 4.   They were impressive, despite losing 4-0.

Man, watching BC handle Michigan with relative ease last night made me wonder how UND would have fared had they advanced. BC is so dang fast and skilled.

I hate Michigan as the New York Yankees of college sports, but I thought they played BC hard last night.   BC just has too elite players who can strike quickly.   But Michigan played at a fast pace too, probably because they had no choice.

I'm not ready to call Denver as lucky as Duluth was.  And I know that we are joking around a bit with the whole "lucky topic", but I digress...
~Bowling Green literally scored on themselves late to give Duluth life..... (2019)
~Little goalie from Michigan shutting down the pony express in the performance of his life at the X (UND would have beaten Duluth). (2011)
~Before they got to that point in 2011, Yale's best player is given a major penalty for head contact in the regional final when he went shoulder to shoulder with the Duluth player.  This was before they reviewed major penalties.  Those two goals on the 5 minute major were the difference in that game.
~Making the NCAA tournament being the last team in with every single game going their way on conference championship Saturday to get in.  Then Air Force knocks off the #1 overall seed SCSU. (2018)

Maybe its my blind hatred of Duluth, but I can appreciate what Denver has done a lot more than what Duluth did.

    No question about it.

I wonder if this guy knows that their last title was 26 years ago, and that 7 of those titles happened 50+ years ago.

He has hoola hoops from the glory years in his mancave

  9. Even with more talent, I'm not convinced Berry would be comfortable coaching the tempo BC plays at.   And Michigan was no slouch tonight either.   BC's combination of speed, stick skills, and quick decision making is just sick.    It's hockey though; they might get beat.

I don't know about you guys, but this is quickly becoming the norm for me.  I've been through a lot of butt puckering the last 3 frozen fours.

    - 3rd year in a row for Michigan to get to #10;

    - Watched Minnesota play the last two years, and they were only a few minutes from winning last year; and

    - Watched Denver win #9 just two years ago (but it was better than seeing Minnesota and Michigan win, right?), but now they're gunning for #10 as well.

The entire tournament this year is exceptional, IMO, in that it has been just loaded with high end talent and really good teams.   This FF lineup is really good, and we should be in store for some great hockey.   Just too bad someone has to win.

And I am more curious as to who is nicer.  Clearly you are not nicer than Brad Berry.

scpa was the nicest poster 7 or 8 years ago.   Problem is, he hasn't even been pleasant since then.

Brad Berry would even tell you he’s disappointed he didn’t land Cooley, Fantilli, and a number of other first round recruits.  Kind of weird you though took my post as a knock on Blake considering I had just said (see below) about him…

I guess if we’re entertaining the hypothetical of trading college players, and assuming Blake still played college hockey, I would try to trade someone else first. If you’re telling me I had to trade Blake, I’ll give you the answer 90%+ people will tell you: Celebrini or Gauthier.  Some big on leadership qualities might say McGroarty.  To the extent they return, others might try to argue for BC’s Smith, Leonard, or Perreault.

Greg Johnson stayed all four, rare even in those days for top end talent.   But he wasn't a #1 was he?

That's what I was wondering, if there is a tendency sometimes (unconsciously) for a team to sit back & let the star players carry the team offensively. Perhaps the team will put in extra effort up & down the lineup next year to get more balanced scoring now that Blake is gone.

I think there's truth to that.   In any group effort, including workplace, it's called ownership.  They have a bigger stake in the outcome.
