  1. The NCAA does a very thorough investigation. They would investigate said "fan" that did the tweet and find out that they weren't really a UND fan.

Not only that--very few gopher fans know how to use twitter yet, so you could pretty much rule them out.

  2. It would be nice to see a breakdown of Canadians that played US college hockey compared to the majors.

Interesting information, but I think it's also a different question with a high draft pick. It may be that it is for those players that the CHL gets its rep. For example, Seth Jones probably does not worry too much whether he will get to the NHL. For him, the question is which route can get him there the soonest and to stay.

  3. Goalies (3): Maris (Sr), Saunders (Jr), Gothberg (Fr)

Forwards (15): Rowney (Sr), Kristo (Sr), Knight (Sr), Rodwell (Jr), Mitch MacMillan (Jr), Dickin (Jr), Gaarder (So), Grimaldi (So), Mark MacMillan (So), O'Donnell (So), Parks (So), Pattyn (So), St. Clair (Fr), Chyzyk (Fr), Koules (Fr)

Defense (8): MacWilliam (Sr), Gleason (Sr), Simpson (Jr), Forbort (Jr), Mattson (So), Panzarella (So), Senkbeil (So), Schmaltz (Fr)

Potential Early Departures (2): Kristo (80/20), Forbort (20/80)

    Potential Arrivals (1): Jones

My early lines assuming no more departures:

    Parks-Knight-Kristo

    MacMillan-Grimaldi-O'Donnell

    Chyzyk-Rowney-Rodwell

    Pattyn-Koules-St. Clair

    Extras: Mitch MacMillan, Dickin, Gaarder

    Forbort-Schmaltz

    MacWilliam-Mattson

    Simpson-Gleason

    Extras: Panzarella, Senkbeil

    Saunders

    Gothberg

    Maris

Makes sense, but I hate to see Gaarder off the ice. Really like his play

  4. The Sioux were lead by Blood Kristo and Nelson all season and with them all leaving I do not see much success next year for the Sioux. Du or Minn Dul. on top

I love Blood, and he was a horse this year. But man, he coughed up a lot of pucks.

  5. Just got done watching the game on DVR.

Wow, absolute domination by BC. They got outshot, but had so many odd man rushes...it was crazy. And they capitalized on almost all of them.

I get the impression that UMN fans can't give us crap any longer for our recent woes against BC in the F4.

Also, what the heck was Matson from UMN thinking at the end? That was bush league. A two-handed slash followed by a cross-check to the face of the BC player...all over a battle for the puck along the boards. Extremely weak. I thought (according to UMN fans) only UND players did that crap when losing? I'm sure Gopher fans will spin that somehow, but either way that was a very weak move -- by the team captain, no less -- when Gopher fans would have us believe that they are angels on the ice.

BC is very, very good this year. I don't think any WCHA team could have hung with them this year in the tourney. If UND would have made it to Tampa, I have a bad feeling it would have been a similar result.

    On to next season!

York has something historic going at BC. Amazing.

  6. Nobody likes the one-and-done aspect of modern college sports, but we have to keep in mind that without early departures like

Brock's, UND would not be seriously considered by players like Parise, Toews, Grimaldi, and Jones. Those players all see college hockey as a preparation for the NHL, and a player leaving after two years is proof to them that this program can prepare them. So as disappointing as Brock's departure is, it's not all bad news in the long run.

  7. There are many "Schroeder" examples.

And there are the Hextalls and Gregoires that come back after leaving and tell teammates to stay.

But you still see early departures that just make you shake your head.

So true. I gave up my 7th year for the money teaching English to 9th graders.

    Shakes head.

  8. Here's my guess(from a long ways out and with a long time for players to come and go still haha)

    Nelson – Knight - Kristo

    Rodwell - Grimaldi - Rowney

    MacMillan – Parks - O'Donnell

St Clair – Pattyn – Gaarder

    Forbort – Schmaltz

    MacWilliam - Mattson

    Simpson - Panzarella

    Goalies: Dell, Saunders, Gothberg

Extras: Senkbeil, Gleason, Macmillan, Koules, Chyzyk, Ladue, Crisfield?

That line up could cause some major headaches if it happens. The Gophers will be loaded with young talent too. Exciting year ahead.

  9. Whether Kristo, Nelson or Forbort stay, I'm really looking forward to watching this year's freshmen play next year. I think that group has the potential to have more impact than any single class in a long time. (And yes, it's just potential)

  10. It sounds like Hextall already did his part over Xmas break by telling the team that he regrets leaving early.

Hopefully he convinced a couple underclassmen to give it another year. :)

I don't think Kristo will see Hextall's chances as comparable to his. Hextall was good for the Sioux, but he didn't have the tools Kristo has.

  11. Lucia just won the WCHA title wire to wire and is on the way to Tampa with a team predicted to finish 6th in the league.

I thought my comment might be misinterpreted. Lucia is damn good. I only meant that I don't think Lucia would have taken this group of players farther. Eaves, who I do not hold in higher regard than Lucia, might have, I think because of his focus on discipline and the systems he coaches. I was just too lazy (and full of sh!!! probably) to go into it. You were right to call me out on it, though.

  12. Let's also be honest. The Sioux looked tired and slow all game today. They looked totally unprepared and basically were dominated the whole game. Against a lower seeded team in the tournament.

It would be a real shocker if talent had anything to do with that. Beyond comprehension for the most simple-minded among us.

  13. My expectations are to contend. My exectations are to put trophys in the case bud. I understand to win a trophy u gotta contend but i wnat more then contending.

Your expectations? You mean your needs.

Congrats Hak and his staff for the coaching team of the year, IMO. None were better this year.

  14. IMO, the Sioux need to play better and play for the complete 60 min if they want to get to the Frozen Four.

I was not very impressed with our play against St.Cloud and for the better part of two periods we were getting worked pretty good by MN.

Hard to evaluate the Denver game as they had no gas left and were playing with 4 defenseman for most of the game.

Good points. I'm sure we're all tickled that the Sioux are in the tourney, given what they have gone through, but we would be foolish to take too much from the FinFiv weekend. Sure is nice to be in the gravy phase, though.
