  1. agreed. The loudest fans, and at least half moved to a position where their racket is negated. That's the way it has to be, but that is the impact.
  2. I don't believe it is unique to the gophers. I.e. I don't think they started it. Can't remember where but I heard it somewhere else before I heard it at Mariucci.
  3. Thanks, Forecheck, for the great recap. I like getting it twice. More fun that way.
  4. Great stuff, thanks again for the time and effort. It's great to see the confidence Blais has in Hale, McMahon and Prpich. I think with Prpich playing more confidently and aggressively, that gives him this option. Then Notermann, Spiewak et al can be turned loose to concentrate on offense. Hope they can do the job! That certainly is a physical line that will match up against Malone and company and they will have to be with Malone's size. If Hale can keep up he will negate that size advantage. This should be a great weekend of hockey, a couple hard fought games. I wonder if a goalie coach would be a good buffer considering Blais' admission...
  5. They must be kind of old. You haven't scored THAT much against us recently. (unless it was last March. ) (edit: I guess I should have read the next post)
  6. Still, we had to loan 'em one of ours so they could win the big one last year.
  7. Yes, that is going to hurt. I was wondering if Prpich might get some time at D that weekend since he has played some D in the past....Just curious. I know Hakstol recently said that they can pretty easily roll 5 D men, and often do in late stages of close games. But for a whole weekend, I wonder if the guys get tired.
  8. Being a Gopher basketball fan I have to say it's kind of fun to yell that out. on the other hand, nothing causes more pain in my head during hockey games.
  9. AMEN! Jason is really having a great year. It's an easy team to like, that is for sure.
  10. It is only my guess from the outside, here, that David Hale is the big chance to leave early. Sounds like he is having a great season. However, hope that is not the case. We could use him around for another year, like all of them.
  11. I think I heard the big tribute will be on Saturday.
  12. I don't think anyone means to downplay the turnaround from last year. I think everyone is very happy to see the big step the team has made SO FAR. But to say we might think the team is overrated at #1 doesn't mean we don't think the team is very good. On the contrary!!!
  13. I'll make a guess on Lamoureux, without any firsthand info. First of all, Starz makes the point moot by pointing out he isn't eligible. In the Herald Hakstol had comments about all the signees: http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/s...rts/4653010.htm In it he says that Lammy is technically excellent, and is now maturing and growing stronger. The kid is really tiny, so he may need some time to build up his body to handle the rigors of D1 hockey. Just my reading into it all....
  14. I agree with you JimDahl. I believe they have us down around #7 or so. Makes more sense to me. Man, this season is more fun that last, isn't it!
  15. Frankly, Kiork, I agree. But I hope we are stuck with it for a while. If so, that means we had a good weekend against SCSU. I hate losing to them.
  16. Read this thead and saw Doc Nodak's name. Where are you Doc? I see on the POI board there is talk of Lucia bringing in a goalie at the break as well. I find that pretty interesting considering the criticism Blais got for doing the same last year. I don't know....How many goalies "develop" into being a real good goaltender, and how many just are or aren't? That said, I don't know that I am a fan of the disruption and commotion caused by bringing in a goaltender half-way through the season. Sure, if Eddie Belfour Jr. shows up in January I'll be as happy as the next guy, but I'm not sure if taking flyers on new tenders at that point helps more than it might hurt.
  17. Actually, I don't like your black uni's much myself, though they are not as bad as Mankato road uni's. Those are just damn hard to look at.

Poor Notermann. 3rd period Parise or Bochenski breaks him in free on the goalie and Notermann shoots it high and wide from about 15 feet out. I thought DeFauw was still on the team!
  19. Goon, Josh wouldn't talk after he beat MN last year either. He just doesn't like the spotlight, I guess.

Hope that some players get the message. Too bad they had to sit. I for one like Canady and Connelly, as it seems to me those guys bust their butts when they are on the ice. Hope it all gets straightened out quickly. We need 'em on the ice. Finally got to see the guys live last night. Nice to be back at the REA. A couple of thoughts. The team is definitely better than last year! More offensive flow. Massen is coming on. His goal last night was big time. He showed real speed in picking the Mankato player of the puck at center ice, racing him to the puck, and beating the other d-man to the goalie. The goalie makes the save but Massen picks up his rebound and flies around the back of the goal and wraps it in the other side. He was dominating. Speaking of dominating: Bochenski. This guy is strong! I think it was the first period he fights to MSM players for the puck in his own zone, and fights them both as he drives towards the mankato zone. He is still pushing forward, and controlling the puck through their zone, I think beating an additional d-man on the way and manages to get a shot off. I was praying it would go in because this would have been a highlight goal played for Sioux fans for many years. Maybe someone else can post a better description of this sequence but it was amazing. And then there was his goal in the 2nd period. Yowza. Bochenski came in on the left wing, with either Notermann or Parise (or both, I can't remember) coming down with him. There A d-man was attempting to break up any pass. Bochenski was positioned to pass, and at the top of the circles rips the puck across his body in a wicked wrist shot and past the goalie in the upper corner of the net. This was a real screamer, man. As fast as most slap shots IMO. Blais was happy with Siembida's performance, even though he gave up 4 goals. Said he made some big saves. Can't wait to be back for the CC weekend. Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention Prpich. This kid will be a real contributor if he keeps this up. Very strong on his skates, and tough on the forecheck.
  21. Wow, outstanding! Thanks Admin and PCM!
  22. I would make a guess that student tickets will be avail for this series as many will be home for Thanksgiving. A friend of mine even landed 6 tickets for this last Saturday's game with WI, so they should be avail.
  23. We talk about concern at goaltender. What would someone say about Brandt if they just looked at his stats so far this year. 6-0-0 1.85 avg 3 shutouts, dang near 4. .899 sv%
  24. From the UND official site: Sioux goalie Jake Brandt named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week 11/25/2002 Brandt extends record to 6-0 Jake Brandt has three shutouts this season. Grand Forks, N.D.--UND goalie Jake Brandt (So., Roseau, Minn.), who ran his scoreless streak to 177:10 and posted five shutout periods while backstopping the Fighting Sioux to a 2-0, 3-2 sweep over visiting Wisconsin last weekend, has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 25. Brandt's 22-save, 2-0 shutout over the Badgers on Friday at Ralph Engelstad Arena was his second straight in WCHA play. Brandt then earned the start in goal again on Saturday and blanked the UW over the first 47:34 to extend his run of scoreless periods to eight, as the Sioux posted a 3-2 victory to gain the weekend sweep. Brandt had a .944 saves percentage in the series and helped blank the Badgers on all seven power plays. Owner of a perfect 6-0-0 overall record this season, Brandt is second among WCHA goaltenders for all games with a 1.85 goals against average. North Dakota, now 11-1-0 on the season, remains at home this week to host WCHA rival Minnesota State on Nov. 29-30.
