A friend suggested maybe they left it at a hearing for the next season because with the possibility of a lockout they didn't want to say "suspended next year" only to have him locked out. So they may leave it at a hearing so they can decide what to do once they know if games will be played and even if they will have a whole season. It's plausible.

Thanks for the note. It all makes sense. I appreciate your efforts and everyone else in the band. A college band is a significant part of the "feel" of a college sporting event. We'll miss you at the Final Five but we'll still sing In Heaven There Is No Beer without band accompaniment!

I got the same reply. I'm wondering if, between all the tournaments (potentially regionals and Frozen Four for hockey and regionals and Finals for basketball) if the band director decided that there wouldn't be enough for all tourneys so decided to pass on the Final Five as there will be plenty of fans there, but travel with the team to these other tourneys where there will be fewer fans. Just my speculation.

Dr. Kupchella responded to my email by saying he just earmarked a bunch of $$ to send the band to upcoming hockey and basketball tournament games. The band director nixed the Final Five. At least the band will be headed to NCAA tournament sites with the team. That will be good.

I think that too.

Now, if only we can get someone to take a picture of the mighty mite skating right by that sign with the "line" drawn just above his head.....

Do the "you must be this tall....." sign. I love that idea.

Thanks PCM! A bit concerned about Blais comments about all players needing to step up. Was he challenging Bo? I'm ok with them resting Prpich to make sure he's fully healthy. We should be able to beat Tech without Mike. Better to have him at 100%. I will very much miss the band. Here's an idea that will piss off some students, but I say move the band down to the first level in the student section. I'm sending an email to Kup and Thomas to tell them to send the band. c_kupchella@mail.UND.nodak.edu roger.thomas@mail.UND.nodak.edu

I agree with the comments about Oshie. Great goal and stick skills, needs to get those feet going. Hardwick looked pretty good out there too, like that he's a 4.0 student too. Good skilled puck handler. Looked like a better overall game than Oshie to me, and I'm a expert talent scout. How the running the goalie wasn't called when it damn near killed the Warroad goalie is beyond me. Greyeagle, I saw that too, and thought the same thing. Very classy.

Can't complain about not getting any love in that article.

Zajac is among the BCHL scoring leaders for the playoffs after finishing 2nd in the regular season scoring race: http://www.sasilverbacks.com/news.php

That was the scrum in front of the net, right? Here's my take on that one. Prpich sprayed the goalie. Of course, I loved that. But then the Duluth players took him to task and I was surprised Prp really didn't fight back. Good for him. But I think the ref wanted UND to be down a player because Prpich sprayed the goalie. I think they made up the extra roughing on Prpich because of what he started.

PCM, you make a valid point. I believe I read this in a Herald article or something several days ago, before it was brought up in this Forum. Don't quote me on that. I read it somewhere, though, just can't play where.... Anyway, what I read said Blais wouldn't let Tech practice in the REA.

I hated Norm Green, not the team. I really wanted the Wild to use the "North Stars" name. That would have meant a lot to me. That would have been cool, but the Dallas team would have had to change their name for that to happen. Can't have the Stars and North Stars in the same league, because the North Stars were always referred to by their fans as the Stars. That would be like like having one NFL team called the Vikes and another called the Vikings. It just wouldn't work. I guess that's the one nice thing about the Jets changing their name to Coyotes when they moved. If Winnipeg ever gets another team they could bring back the Jets name. But if they don't the Jets are gone forever. If they were the Phoenix Jets I would still follow them, but the Coyotes name just doesn't mean anything to me. I think of the Red Sox and the White Sox and I think it could still work. Yet I understand your point.

I think it is possible that Prp is getting some "reputation" calls but from what I have seen of him this year I think he's earned the rep. Still, I love Prpich and I'm glad he's on my team. I wish he was more like last year though, where he did agititate and play physical but generally stayed out of the box.

I'd buy your argument if any of their top picks didn't also include fairly high offensive numbers. The fact none of our guys even made the "on the radar" or "poised to move up" sections tells me that offensive numbers were a large factor in their process. Still, I'm not going to get my undies in a bunch over what INCH thinks. I enjoy reading their stuff even if I don't agree. I get to root for our guys. Wouldn't trade 'em.

Well, I can understand the desire to be a good neighbor, but when I consider the benefit of allowing a team to practice on your own home ice for a week heading into the playoffs, I begin to understand Blais' point a little bit better. If we were going on the road for the playoffs in 2001 to MN, do you think Lucia would have allowed us to come down 1 week early and practice at Mariucci for a week? I doubt it when I think of it. I think this is one of those situations where it sounds bad on the surface but when you dig a little deeper you can find a bit more sense in the matter.

I wonder why he took Stafford off that hot 4th line?

Is Bakken's article about the signs on-line? I was not able to locate it when I checked today.

Beersong was stating on another thread that Duluth is pretty banged up. Brosz is out for several games, Hambly has a bum knee and Stapleton is banged up. Still I think Duluth is a very good team and Mankato isn't. Duluth in 2 despite Beersong's protests.

Funny thing about Woog was this last Saturday he was apologizing for mispronouncing somebody's last name. I wondered if he ever was told how he butchers Lundbohm's?
