Will it surprise you if I agree with you?

Bad timing. Whether or not I feel sorry for Wisconsin, I do feel sorry for UND. It could be extremely helpful if Bucky sweeps Denver this weekend in the WCHA standings.

Thiessen watch: Brad Thiessen 15-18-4 6 shutouts 2179 minutes 104 goals 2.86GAA 1371shots 0.924 svs% His saves % is 3rd in the BCHL of goalies who have played more than 4 games, the best being .932. His 6 shutouts leads the league. The next is at 5, and then 3, etc.

Well. I guess this illustrates the gap pretty well.

Seems fairly reasonable, IMO. I guess the proof is in the implementation. I can understand some current season ticket holders who sit on the ends and who get moved could be upset. If I was one, I'd probably be. However, I don't think that's a good reason to NOT move the students. Apparently the season ticket holders are ALREADY complaining about student behavior. If moving the students can fix one source of the conflict, then might as well have the season ticket holders complain once about being moved and be done with it, rather than complain every game. Students, it's already been said. Cut out the vulgarity (can't be THAT hard), and limit the standing. I'm one who likes to stand. I still do. I'd stand the whole game if I could. I understand that. But few others do. So meet in the middle (on the seat) and get along. Stand up at the right times. Do the rest of the things you can do to be a good citizen, and fight if the complaints about standing during an "emotional" event get out of hand. You'll have much more to stand on then.

Farce, I love your optimism and will hold to it. Freshmen also often times wear down over the course of a season, especially WJ partcipants. The Sioux are especially vulnerable with such a heavy load of "at risk" players. Fortunately, as you say, they also have a great upside, especially with this talented class. Not all will fade, nor will all progress as we'd like. The key lies in the balance (or imbalance). And where will be the fulcrum?

That's a good one! Looks like Kozek? He was playing physical out there this weekend. I like him.

I feel so dirty but I might have to be a big gopher fan this weekend too. Regardless of how it affects our RPI/PWR ratings, a gopher sweep could really really help the Sioux in the WCHA standings. I know the old saying about ifs, ands and buts BUT should the gophers sweep this weekend AND the Sioux take care of business at home against Mankato and SCSU, the Sioux will be positioned with a very reasonable chance to finish 3rd in the WCHA. I'm not going to get into all of the things that need to happen, people can play with the WHAT IF tool for themselves. But looking at how Denver is currently struggling, if the above scenario was to play out, the Sioux COULD get to 3rd. And that makes the Final Five THAT much more fun. It gives us a better first round playoff opponent, and assuming we make the Five, it removes the chance of playing 3 games in 3 days like last year, a week before regionals. I'd rather avoid that if possible.

Thanks, Kermit. That's interesting to see.

I was joking that we have small guys, but can't seem to get that extra "inch".

No real problem, I was just hopeful!

psst....I think he was agreeing with you. At least that's how I read it.

Eh, apparently we can't break the 6'2" barrier....

Good point. I doubt Greene's ambition was to get to the show, and drop the gloves every 5 minutes. That's a lot of "Look at me! Look at me!". No, I suspect he will play the game as hard as he can, and if he needs to throw 'em, he'll do it. But I doubt he's looking for opportunities.

I probably read azsioux's post too quickly but it seemed as though he was referring to Marvin as a Sioux recruit, rather than a prospect. Not that I'm trying to split hairs as I hope he does become a Sioux recruit. Just wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Friday: Irmen 1g 3a Potulny 1g 1a Saturday: Zajac 1g 1a (GWG) Spirko 1g 1a (EN to seal, Stafford with the assist) Maybe that tells the story there.

For the record, my buddy and I were at Mariucci on Friday night. We figured if this game was out of hand either way is when we'd get grief. Well, we know how the game went. We didn't get a single comment from gopher fans throughout the game. The usher was very nice to us when he talked with us after the game. And a student in full get-up walked up the steps, tipped his hat and said "better luck tomorrow". Everyone else pretty much ignored us. I think that was pretty acceptable, all-in-all.

That would be a fun game to see.

Dude, where do you suppose "WPoS" came from?

Mankato beat UNO 5-2 a couple weeks ago and handled Alaska (in Mankato at least) this past weekend rather handily. I think we all remember AA didn't roll over for our Sioux, so I think Mankato deserves more respect than I gave them several weeks ago when they appeared to be a patsy. That seems to be changing. After losing their first 7 games to the like of Alberta, Bemidji, Minnesota and Colorado College, Mankato is 9-5-4. AA = 3-0-1 UNO = 2-0-0 Alabama Huntsville = 1-0-0 Denver = 1-0-1 Yale = 0-0-1 Notre Dame = 1-1-0 MI Tech = 1-1-0 Duluth = 0-1-1 WI = 0-2-0 The Sioux are 8-6-4 with Mankato since 2000-01 season. At Mankato = 5-3-2 At Home = 3-3-2 The Sioux have not swept Mankato at home in that time. They have been swept AT HOME by Mankato. The Sioux did sweep Mankato on the road once, and were swept on the road by Mankato once.

I didn't see what Lammy did but don't have a real problem with it, just as I didn't rip Irmen for his. The guy listened to the MN student section chanting the "you suck" thing at least 8 times this weekend. He faced about a billion shots (close to 90) over the weekend, and on saturday his play allowed his team the opportunity to win. He gave back a bit of what he got, just as Irmen did. Big deal. I still want to know more about why the MN players were all jawing at Oshie. It was very evident in person on Friday, especially Irmen. And I think TJ was trying a bit too hard to do something on the ice at times to show them up, but he couldn't get it done. Friday it still seemed that he was a bit of a target of some beaking, for whatever reason. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to pop off with his mouth. If the Sioux can find a way to sweep the next 2 series at home, they are in an excellent position to take a 3rd place finish in the league. All things considered I think that would be a very, very acceptable finish. I know that's a lot to ask, considering both Mankato and SCSU do not appear to be fading. In fact, it's just the opposite. Couple that with the Sioux's trouble at home, and it's probably not even realistic. But I will hope. Last night the team gave me hope.
