I'd like to see a sweep, and it may be necessary for tourney hopes. Right now I'd be happy with a split, and 2 well-played games. To me, at least that would show the Sioux are on track.

Well, that sheds some light on a couple of previous arguments on this board. When you read that article, you again realize what a prize J Toews is.

Eiyeee, I feel bad for ya', laddy.

I drink good Scotch and water. Takes care of the hydration and good quality liquor helps a lot.

I actually think he had 2 keyboards and made different posts with his left and right hand at the same time. And sometimes it even looked like one knew what the other was talking about. j/k, Handy.

It's great to see guys throughout the lineup chipping in. It's a great relief to see a respite from the past few weeks. Hopefully it signals a change in the weather, and not just the eye of the storm. We saw this in 2001-02 with the sweep of Michigan and Michigan State, then a return to the woes of the first half of the season. Hopefully we will see a better 2nd half.

I know. That was a shot at the AD, not the people of the area.

Only got to watch a few minutes of the first. As relieved as we are that the team won, how do you suppose they feel in the locker room tonite? It's one night but the outcome is much more as expected. Only 1 goal against, and 4 goals for, and goals chipped in by players who are expected to score but haven't or who are generally low scoring players. Good things happen when the goals come throughout the lineup. I wonder if the penalty fest was more because of the non-WCHA officiating than anything the Sioux were doing. Also nice to beat Dartmouth. Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth this is causing to so many people in the New Hampshire area? Oh, the humanity...
-
I thought so too but after watching the replay it looked like the goalie gave him the 5 hole, and closed it at the last moment.
-
Did I read it wrong? I think it says the Zajacs helped influence Winnett.
-
I think the biggest complaint is the cookie cutter aesthetic design, not the material.
-
That line was buried in the middle of Sioux Hab-it's paragraph and I wondered how many people saw it. Cracked me up!
-
I agree, MM. I'm also not a fan of the black ice jerseys, and I don't like cookie cutter design style. The Sioux should be unique in their jersey design. I'm hoping this is all about testing and marketing their new material, and not a new Sioux jersey design.
-
I'm ready for a new look for the Sioux as I'm pretty so-so on the diagonal striped jerseys. But I'd rather have them than a jersey that looks like 9 other teams. I hope this is a temporary look, not something we're stuck with. They tout the performance of this material. I have often wondered if the shimmer-cloth or whatever it is that we're currently using is a hot material to playing in. Maybe that's not a big factor in hockey, I don't know.

I love Canada's PK. They rarely give the puck carrier time and space, and sometimes they find a way to collapse 2 guys on the puck carrier and get away with it.
-
I haven't watched many international games. I can't believe that was a penalty against Canada. Cross-checking? He pushed the guy over.
-
I can't believe that goal stood, because the US player just ran over Canada's goalie. Wow.
-
Canada was looking really good until Sweatt's rush where he ran around one guy and pylonned a second guy and got into position for a shot. Good hustle by Carmen to be in position to swat the rebound off the end boards into the net.
-
I hope they ask everybody so we can end up with the RedHawks or the RiverHawks, or better yet the Red River Hawks.
-
When are these guys going to start wearing shields/masks?
-
Nice job, Pat.
-
Congratulations, Taylor! What a great honor.

While saves percentage is obviously percentage of saved shots, I do wonder if that is at all affected by how the team is playing in front of a goaltender. While it may be true that a goalie who faces 20 shots a game with a .95 save percentage might be expected to only give up 2 goals on 40, I wonder if a porous D allows the other team inordinately good scoring chances will make the goalie's save % look worse than it really is. If that is true, we need to be careful reading too much into Kangas' drop in % from last year to this year. And frankly .911 is still pretty good.
-
I don't think .911 is anything to sneeze at. Western College Hockey probably doesn't have it right. Eidsness isn't coming until 2008, so Lammy will have graduated by then. It shouldn't be an insurance policy, because you usually have a couple of goalies on scholarship. Grieco will be a junior, and Eidsness a freshman at that time.
-
Time to add: Brad Eidsness - for 2008 (AJHL) - 5' 11" 170# Left handed Goalie. Stats 10th in Sv% at .906, 8th in GA at 2.82. Tied for 1st in the league with 3 shutouts. He was one of 2 goalies on the CJAHL West Prospects team that beat the East prospects 6-2:
