  1. Maybe the Sioux fans at the Ralph should start cheering for the opponent and heckling the home team.
  2. Sauer: "Marc Chorney with a great pass" (!) Time warp here ...
  3. i think that would qualify as hostile and abusive
  4. Toews #3 star of last night's Canada-Norway game: http://edmontonsun.com/Sports/Hockey/2005/...373077-sun.html
  5. Hope you're right. If someone told me right now that UND would get the last seed in, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
  6. Thursday 12/29: On the good side (for WCHA rankings), CC beat Michigan 6-1. MN beat Union. On the bad side, Sioux lost to Harvard (the top of the ECACHL) Mankato only manages a tie against Yale, the bottom of the ECACHL. Tech loses to Michigan State (as expected) Net net, not a good night for the WCHA. Being #5 in the WCHA might not be good enough to make it into the NCAA this year...
  7. suddenly, playing cupcakes over New Years (instead of a team the quality of Harvard) is sounding pretty good.
  8. Is it too late to pretend its a road game?
  9. game starts 737, pregame in a sec
  10. I only had to drive to the Twin Cities, but then I had to hear about it all week at work ...
  11. ARRRGGGHHHH!! I HAD successfully represssed that vile memory. But NOOOOOO, I have to go back to therapy. It was 1999.
  12. I'm never sure if I'm happy to hear the voice of Jim Rich or not. Broadcast on!
  13. UMD with a 1-1 tie against Cornell. Another strong outcome for UMD against a ranked opponent, and a decent outcome for the WCHA. Also, since UND has 2 wins aginst the 'Dogs, if UMD becomes a TUC, that helps all UND's comparisons with other teams. (And it would hurt MN, since they lost and tied). Don't bet against Sandelin having that young UMD squad in form come March.
  14. I agree with those 3 names, in part because UND has faced each in key NCAA playoff games within the last decade: BU 1997 national final, 2005 east regional BC 2000 national final, 2001 national final, 2005 east regional Maine 2000 national semifinal
  15. Toews no points, but it was cool to hear his name called with 1: left in a one-goal game. Reinforces the widely shared opinion that his two-way play is what makes him so special.
  16. Put a big W on the board for the WCHA: UMD, #37 in the RPI here at SS.com, http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/rpi.php wins 4-1 over Maine, #9. This is a big win in terms of the pairwise for all the WCHA schools with NCAA hopes... UMD gets a second shot tomorrow at Cornell. Go Sandy! Go Dogs.
  17. Double Points to Goon AND Redwing77. Nice catch; I missed a game in the list above. 12/27/2002 at REA: UND 5 Brown 2. (Bochenski with 4 goals, including two of the "how the h-e-double-hockey-sticks did that go in" kind.) The NEXT year, as Redwing notes, Wayne State took out Brown. Methinks that Danis decided it was better for his GAA to allow an extra to Wayne State than to get rung up for 5-6 by Bochenski and Company.
  18. Sagard, you get small partial credit on #1 for admitting that UND might have a better record vs ECACHL than Minnesota. Also, partial credit for recalling one of Minnesota's multiple losses in the last 11 years. The other? Princeton, arguably a lot more embarrassing, so I can see why you might be repressing. UND has 6. Your guys need to get out more, see the world. On #2, however "No Points For You". You are clearly repressing here too. Get in touch with the infinite, man. Its not too late.
  19. Extra POINTS! for being at that game. I had forgotten about the Jensen GWG. Chris Jensen was a master of the stick, both with the puck and on opponents.
  20. In the last 11 years, UND and Minnesota have both played 11 home games vs ECAC teams. What's the record of each, and which team is better?
  21. You are right and I was wrong ... it was the Winter Sports Center, from the 70's until mid-80's. (Geez I spent hours and hours outside that rusty old thing and I get the name wrong.)
  22. Pretty good. Last loss was to Renselaer fka RPI, November 24, 1984 an 8 to 2 crunching in GF. It was not pretty. It was also clear that RPI team was not your average ECAC team. They were also on a mission of revenge, losing to UND (in NY) the previous March in the NCAA quarterfinals, where Jon Casey saved over 100 shots in a 2-game total-goals series. The winning streak is not quite 50, though. Per an older UND media guide, I count 24 25: 11/23/1984 RPI 7 6 11/24/1984 RPI 2 8 11/30/1986 Yale 6 4 3/20/1987 St Lawr 3 1 3/21/1987 St Lawr 6 3 3/26/1987 Harvard 5 2 1/12/1990 RPI 2 1 1/13/1990 RPI 5 3 12/19/1995 Dartmouth 8 2 12/20/1995 Dartmouth 6 3 3/23/1997 Cornell 6 2 12/27/1997 Cornell 5 1 11/6/1998 Clarkson 6 2 11/7/1998 Clarkson 5 1 10/29/1999 at Clarkson 4 1 10/30/1999 at Clarkson 6 5 11/27/1999 vs Vermont 8 0 11/24/2000 St Lawrence 6 1 11/25/2000 St Lawrence 4 2 12/30/2000 Princeton 5 4 12/14/2001 at St Lawrence 2 1 12/15/2001 at St Lawrence 5 2 11/1/2002 at Princeton 5 2 11/2/2002 at Yale 7 3 12/27/2002 Brown 5 2 (EDIT/ADDition) 10/31/2003 Yale 8 4 11/1/2003 Yale 10 0
  23. What is the Sioux current winning streak vs. ECAC teams?
  24. Bingo! 3/26/83. Cheeseheads 6, CEO's 2. And a bunch of cheeseheads doing a dying cockroach on the ice after the game was over, while the UW band played on ... eeeewwwww! 3/25/83 Harvard 5, MN 3. (weird game, it was like somebody switched jerseys or something)
  25. OK, a hint. Harvard played in the old Winter Sports Building against ...
