  1. I think the US needs to get it's own house in order before worrying about the sissy Euros.

Probably time for a five year stretch of hard ass coaches. Maybe we could lure Lemaire into coaching the team after he retires from the Wild.

It's time for Blais to get his shot.

Actually, Head Coach of USA Hockey would have been a good title for Herb Brooks. If the suits at USA Hockey would have let him have the reigns, he would have turned the NTDP upside down. He wanted to emphasize summer "development" not "evaluation." He was no fan of the Ann Arbor program.

We know what Brooks thought of the sissy Euro's :D

  2. I was reading some things about Lucia on USCHO, and I came across a bunch of garbage that really makes me happy to live in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Apparently, Twin Cities media have been speculating on what is wrong with Don, Dark Starr actually reporting a supposed diagnosis. (that coach had to dispell as untrue at his press conference) Coach Lucia said something to the effect that he has been called 10 times a night by media wondering what is wrong with him. Am I missing something here? Where is the decency? Would this happen in GF or Fargo if one of our coaches was sick and wanted some privacy? Sure, regular guys like me would discuss, and maybe post rumors on a messageboard, but would Brad S., Tim H., Pat Sweeney go on air and basically makeup a diagnosis for a guy and broadcast it? NO! Maybe I am overreacting, but this just makes me sick.

    LEAVE THE GUY ALONE!

In the grand scheme, this is just one little thing, but yet another reason why I'm glad I live where I do.

    I disagree.

When you make $100K+ as a coach at a public university, that makes you a public figure. It comes with the territory/notoriety/money.

He could stop the speculation by telling us what he and his doctors know. It will all come out eventually, anyway.

BTW - I would believe the same for a Sioux coach as well.

  3. I liked it a lot better, about 6 years ago, when they played the beginning of "8 Mile" by Eminem at the beginning of the games. "Look, if you had, one shot, or one opportunity, to seize everything you everything you wanted, one moment, would you capture or just let it slip."

What about "Fight on Sioux" from the pep band? It worked 25 years ago. This is college, by the way.

  4. thats the dumbest article title ive ever read ???

also that was a waste of a web page as well, a story that mentioned nothing of importance by meyers

Jess doing/writing anything he can to tweak Sioux fans.

  5. As well as E is playing, SCSU will score...more because our D will hang E out to dry! Don't think the winner of either game will score less than 4 goals and I don't see us scoring 4 or more in both games. I say this weekend has Splitsville written all over it.

If Mario plays, then we sweep! ???

If our D are the problem, why are we out shooting our opponents (33.5 to 28.5 ave.)?

Our GA/D is fine - we need our scorers to keep scoring - Harvard is a good start. Let's make it a trend this weekend.

  6. minny highschool hockey in trouble?

    western blog

Overreaction - read the wcco story - it's based on a single discussion point, not a real proposal.

Also - I doubt the State High School League will do anything to hurt high school hockey (it's cash cow) as long as former Sioux goalie Craig Perry is one of the Directors.

  7. Schroeder will be a top ten pick this year. I think a year in the USHL will do wonders for Kristo and he will be an impact player next year!

Kristo has already been drafted, which means the clock is ticking on his time at UND. He will not be a 4 year player and his year at the USHL may mean he may not be a 3 year player - which is why it would have been nice to see him here this year.

I think we have room on this team for a forward who can score.

  8. I agree with not playing fienhage every night. people on this board complain about chay's defense well in watching fienhage he has directly turned the puck over to the opposition that has led to a goal i.e. against wisconsin. I feel at this point he is a liability with puck handeling.

I don't say he should play every night either - but he shouldn't sit entire series either (AA, Duluth - he was an emergency fly-in at CC).

Other more experienced D have had their share of blunders this year as well. If one bad mistake means riding the pine we would need 75 players on the roster.

Back to Miller - if we are struggling for consistent offense (we are) and he is playing better why not move him back to F with the injury to Trupp. He could still play point on the PP - that's where he gets most of his points anyway.

Fienhage is not going to develop unless he plays. I don't see much of a difference between his play and the rest ot the crew, exept Genoway.

  9. canada camp roster

    canada camp roster

4 ncaa players with a chance, 3 wcha

what doesnt team usa do a camp like this instead of just placing a team together? take a note from a team that wins gold after gold and puts together a TEAM

The USA has their camp in August, not to conflict with the NCAA season.

Hockey Canada and the CHL work together so a Dec camp for Canada is OK.

I think there are more politics involved selecting the USA team vs. Canada. I don't think Pat Quinn is going to listen to any Hockey Canada "bureaucrat

  10. listening to coach hakstol talk and not want to comment on big joe i can only believe he may be done this season. just the first time you have heard hak say what he said and how he said it. take it for what thats worth but just a hunch big joe is done this season

Given this I don't understand investing the time to turn Miller into a D when he will only be here one year. He is taking up playing time from others that will be here longer and it is just delaying their development.

If Miller is playing so well, why not move him back to forward. Our main problem is inconsistent offense and maybe his improved play can help there.

Our GA is not the problem, finishing is.

    World Junior team announcement coming

    http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/

Note: this will be the first year in a long time that no player on the Sioux roster has WJC experience (Chorney and Oshie were too old last year but they played in previous years). David Hale played in the 2000-1 WJC team and began his UND career on the 2000-1 team.

Players like Jones, Greene, Parise, Murray, Stafford, Spriko, Lee, Chorney, Oshie, Toews have followed.

There is much discussion in other threads on this board about the talent level on this year's team. WJC experience is one barometer to confirm there is no "elite" level player on this team.

That does not mean this team cannot make a run, but it is unlikely. Looking back at recent NCAA champs, Mich State had probably the least amount of talent and they had some WJC experience (Abdelkader, who is now playing in the bigs with the Wings).

Kristo will probably start a new string next year.

Kristo did make the roster for USA
