  1. Well I officialy saw LaPoint sign his letter of intent today. Not that you had any worries but I guess it's now official. Good Luck Derrick!
  2. Alright guys it sounds like what I have already thought, you guys are great fans and I feel privileged to join the Sioux Nation. I've been around for a little while now with minimal posting but I'm definitly looking forward to talking hockey with some good hockey people here. Just keep in mind that Wisconsin is still #1 in my heart and will always be but I've always kinda wanted to yell GO SIOUX! at the end of the national anthem....here's to my first game at the Ralph next season? (Probably depend on if they would happen to bring in LaPoint early)
  3. I'm currious to know from Sioux fans what you think of my situation. I'm from Western Wisconsin and grew up a big Badger fan. I'm a college student here as well. Recently one of my freinds/teamates from high school, has commited to the University of North Dakota. Not only am I freinds with the player but with the entire family as well which includes an older brother at the University currently. My question is, what are your thoughts on someone adding another team to thier allegiances. Now I will still be a Badger fan first and foremost, but I now have a huge warm spot for the Sioux and everything that goes with the program. Is this wrong? Can I be accepted as the newest Sioux Fan?
  4. Give me a break...to even bring up the thought that Wisconsin was not the best team in the country with Elliott in the net is simply an irresponsible thought.
  5. I actually won a little bit on Wisconsin. And will win a looooot more if they win saturday since I took them 8-5 before the tourney started as well as the -180 game line against Maine.
  6. "How many games does Minnesota have left in the season?"-CS "hahahahhahahah zero, the golden chokers lost to Holy Cross in the first round."-CC There you go. (Not the real Chris Collins)
  7. Whats the O/U on the amount of games Minnesota has left in thier season? 0? I'll take the under.
  8. If you actually believe that those are Parise's fault, then you dont know goaltending. The first two were absolute snipes. The first one he was screened. And the third one he had no chance when it got deflected off a stick. Bad breaks. UND still dominated the play. I think BC had the puck in Nodaks zone about 6 times and scored 3.
  9. I havent been following this thread but how serious was that mention of Barry Melrose saying this will be Jonathon Toews last season in Nodak?
  10. Again guys good luck lets see an all WCHA Title game. I'm on my way right now to get lunch and pick up my beer supply for the entire weekend, I hope to have the first open by 1:30. Go Sioux and Go Bucky.
  11. I agree with bet3go. I wish you guys luck all the way. Although I will be cheering for Wisconsin since I've been a fan my entire life, I now consider myself partial to Nodak since one of my former teamates/freind/player, is a future Fighting Sioux D-man. Puts me in a bit of a spot! But good luck either way.
  12. Odds from Sportsbook.com on winning it all... Wisconsin 8-5 (Bet $10 to win $16) North Dakota 2-1 (Bet $10 to win $20) Boston College 12-5 (Bet $10 to win $24) Maine 11-2 (Bet $10 to win $55) I think I got those payouts correct....
  13. Hahah thats so classic. I wonder why he didnt do the jersey pop after they lost to HC at the Ralph?
  14. LaPoint verbally commits to UND Joe Ziemer Leader-Telegram Staff http://www.leadertelegram.com/story.asp?id=67163 Eau Claire North senior defenseman Derrick LaPoint has verbally committed to play hockey for the University of North Dakota. LaPoint, Wisconsin
  15. Now that LaPoint has officialy commited, I need to get a jersey and possibly some apparell. Where or what is the best source? And which jersey would you suggest? I want to get an authentic jersey and when he gets a number have it personalized. Also for anyone who is wondering I am not related to LaPoint, just a family freind, so please do not take anything I say for or against him. Thanks!
  16. LaPoint commited to North Dakota.
  17. I wasnt saying you got LaPoint. Just that it might increase North Dakota's bargining power to get him if he was brought in for 2006 if Smaby leaves early. Was currious on what the chances were that this would happen. I believe Hakstol went and watched LaPoint play today in the championship of the Wisconsin Senior Class Tournament.
  18. But Marto is already coming in for 2006. I'm assuming Bina is already on scholarship. Losing Marvin and Smaby would leave an open spot. Why not bring in LaPoint a year early to increase your bargining power over Minnesota and Wisconsin?
  19. If Smaby leaves early does Hak bring in LaPoint for 2006?
  20. http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/index.php?ntid=75605 UW men's hockey: LaPoint isn't ready to commit ANDY BAGGOT 608-252-6175 abaggot@madison.com The last three months have seen University of Wisconsin men's hockey coach Mike Eaves and his staff win some major recruiting battles. But UW finds itself in a curious tug-of-war for an in-state prospect who has drawn major interest from other elite programs and the NHL. Derrick LaPoint, a 17-year-old defenseman from Eau Claire North High School, is being pursued by a host of colleges, including Minnesota, North Dakota, Quinnipiac and New Hampshire as well as UW. The volume of attention grew exponentially when the Central Scouting Bureau, an evaluation service utilized by all NHL teams, ranked LaPoint among its top 100 prospects in North America for the 2006 entry draft. Scott LaPoint, Derrick's father, said his son has scholarship offers from Minnesota, North Dakota and UW for 2007-08. In all three cases, Derrick LaPoint would play a season of juniors, likely in the U.S. Hockey League, before enrolling in school. Quinnipiac, meanwhile, has offered LaPoint for 2006-07. The LaPoints made an unofficial campus visit to UW last weekend, at which point Scott said his son was offered a scholarship. Scott LaPoint said Eaves called Monday to say he needed a decision by Wednesday. "We're not ready to make one," Scott LaPoint said Tuesday night. "We love the opportunity (at UW), but we're not ready to say yes." Derrick LaPoint said he planned to reiterate that sentiment Wednesday night when he called and left a message for Eaves. "I guess we'll see what happens," Derrick LaPoint said. Derrick LaPoint said he intends to make official visits to North Dakota - where his older brother Nate goes to school and works for the athletic department - and Minnesota later this month before making a decision. Opinions vary on Derrick LaPoint, a 6-foot-3, 165-pounder who was named the Wisconsin High School Player of the Year by the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association. Some observers see him as a rare talent who could make the jump from high school to NCAA Division I; others think his ability to dominate at the Wisconsin high school level says more about the competition than LaPoint. Where will LaPoint end up? "We're looking at it from the standpoint that (Derrick) can't make a bad decision," Scott LaPoint said.
  21. Eau Claire North defenseman Derrick LaPoint was named Wisconsin High School Player of the Year by the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association and American Family Insurance on Wednesday night. LaPoint is pictured with coaches Andy Akervik (left) and Tom Bernhardt. The WHCA 2006 Player of the Year Award Ceremony, sponsored by American Family Insurance, was held at the Sheraton Madison Hotel, across John Nolen Drive from the Alliant Energy Center. The ceremony was attended by the eight Player of the year finalists and the teams in Madison for the 36th annual State Tournament. Article from www.wisconsinprephockey.net
  22. Supposed to be visiting Minnesota and Wisconsin. According to a poster on GPL Lucia was at his game tonight. Also visited St. Cloud. Hard to say which way he's leaning.
  23. North Dakota has an offer on the table with LaPoint.
  24. I wouldnt say getting left-overs. LaPoint is still available, and his stock has been sky rocketing through the roof the past few months. I think the Sioux are still in the drivers seat, although Minny and Wisco are getting more involved.
