  1. Hakstol is also a punk. I wouldn't really be a true Badger fan with any other response now would I?
  2. Most student sections have moments where maintaining their "class" becomes less important than finding a way to be-little their opponent. Ours is certainly no different. I truly believe, at times, they are satisfied just to amuse themselves. We love them despite their faults, however, because at the end of day they create a top notch atmosphere. I agree that you have a logo moreso than a mascot, perhaps it's just a detail they choose to ignore.
  3. Although the loss stings very much, we played well and thats all I can ask. It seemed we had you guys despite the pipe shots and the disallowed goal (rightfully so IMO). Your goalie was tremendous and stopped us on countless number of very high quality scoring chances. It was nice to see a good turnout by Sioux fans, it always helps the atmosphere, which I thought was outstanding despite the low attendance numbers. I know the students probaly had a hard time justifying spending $80 on tickets for 2 games which was roughly the same cost as a student season ticket. And yes the basketball team affected ticket sales some, however, I was a bit surprised and dissapointed in the total turnout. On a positive note, the fans who did show up made it a very loud environment. Anyways, good luck in the FF in two weeks.
  4. And let's not forget about Ryan MacMurchy.
  5. I would not be surprised at all to see Earl leave early. The CBA encourages underclassmen to leave early. Toronto is not exactly loaded with forwards either. Elliot by all accounts should leave early, but I'm not so sure Ottawa is as eager as some might think. They have a couple prospects in their system now that they are very high on so they might not mind if Elliot stayed another year. Pavelski lacks speed and doesn't have a particularly hard shot so I doubt his game translates to the NHL. He is skilled and does all the little things that you love a player to do, so I may be proven wrong on this. Gilbert will play in the NHL and he will probaly play for a few years, but I don't think he will ever become a star. Skille might be someone who leaves early but it won't be this year. He has a lot of things to work on including his vision. The next time he passes the puck on an oddman rush will be his first time.
  6. He stopped 35 of 37 shots. The first goal was a shot that didn't appear to even be on net but was redirected in off the skate of a badger defenseman. There was also a sequence where he made the inital save on a shot from one faceoff circle and then slid over and stoned the rebound shot from the far post. I'm not sure what he could have done, in your opinion, to have had a good game if the Maine game didn't qualify. As far as the MN game goes, you are correct about the defensive breakdowns, however, Elliot has been able to bail us out in those situations, Connelly did not. Briggs was standing on his head the second game of that series, for a change. It was painful to watch.
  7. I think it goes without saying that Elliot is the key to the puzzle every night. I think what BC did to beat you guys was took advantage of all the time and space you allowed their forwards at neutral ice. Parise wasn't able to bail the team out either which only compounded the problem. Elliot is always our key though, you are absolutely right. He is our best penalty killer, which may be the difference tonight. Well, I'm off to the game.
  8. I agree that BC can fly, however, Wisconsin doesn't play a free-wheeling style so they don't have to worry about matching BC in the speed category to win. I will give you Minnesota as an example. We allowed 11 goals in 5 games to arguably one of the most profficient offensive teams in college hockey this year. The one thing we need to do that UND did a poor job of is backchecking. It is essential!
  9. The Bradley Center has always had a history of "slow ice" since it's inception. I don't think its in bad shape from a condition standpoint, however, it is a little slow. The goalies didn't seem to have any problems with bouncing pucks and there weren't any more instances of pucks "on end" than in any other hockey game I've ever seen.
  10. I have to agree, Parise was not sharp. The way the defenseman were leaving him "hung out to dry" made it necessary for him to have a big game and he just didn't. BC had good quick forwards which I have to credit for getting to a lot of the loose pucks. I thought that Collins from BC was outstanding! He could get the puck up the ice in a hurry and make you pay for your mistakes. I thought ND did a good job of controling the offensive zone, but BC did just as good a job of defense in their own zone. No easy shots, not many odd-man rushes, and did a good job not taking more penalties than perhaps they could've. The goalie wasn't bad either, not great, but not bad. One other thing I noticed was that it seemed like BC was winning every crucial faceoff. I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the scoreboard and seen ND leading in that category. Smaby didn't play one of his better games either. Too many penalties and mistakes.
  11. (background singers) Leaving on a jet plane....
  12. It sounds like we have a common bond anyways. Come to think of it I haven't seen or talked to my brother in quite awhile. Perhaps.....no....no way did he move to ND. Maybe I should call him.
  13. I have a small group of family in Minneapolis so we take every chance imagineable to barb each other. The fact that Minn-Wisc is a natural rivalry certainly fuels this, but I would cheer against Minnesota regardless of conference affiliation. They are exclusive for this reason. Don't get me started on the Phil Kessel angle. Otherwise, I am a Badger fan first and WCHA second.
  14. Since you are pulling the strings, what kind of arrangements are being made on your agent Drew's part on compensation packages for NHL teams that you would rather not play for? As a follow up, will the University of Minnesota be contributing to this compensation package?
  15. Furthermore, you will be handed Badger sweaters (at your expense) and be obligated to sing "On Wisconsin" before being allowed to enter the Bradley Center on the day of the game.
