  1. OH...the Doubletree as opposed to the Raintree...... Jeez.... Hopefully I can find my way to the springs without ending up in Kansas....
  2. Friday before the game at the Raintree? 2625 Ore Mill Rd? Sounds good... let me know..
  3. I remember a few years ago in Ft. Collins, a large hockey arena was voted down. The rumor was that CSU would make the jump to D-1. I thought, and still think that is a longshot. However, some new club college hockey league called "Hockey West" in the ACHA is on the verge of being formed. It would have ASU, U of Arizona, (maybe) CSU, Weber State, Utah, BYU(between missions) etc... about 8 teams. Hockey West Conference Granted, it's a big jump to the D-1 hockey NCAA for any athletic program, but I guess anything is possible. And....looking outside of my window, about 5 miles southeast of Ft. Collins is a new sports venue for the Central Hockey League. It seats about 6000. CSU isn't that far away from that arena. Sure would be nice to see some college hockey outside my back door.... Jeez..... Jim! quit getting my hopes up!
  4. Jeez, can't a Fighting Sioux loving Democrat get a break here! The last tree I hugged burned down near Glenwood Springs! Anyway...back to the subject at hand. I don't know if this would turn ACHA hockey programs into sanctioned NC$$ prgrams, It would more than likely bring back a whole lotta College Wrestling programs. After all they are cheaper to run...and in a George Dubya economy, we gotta cut those budgets!
  5. I also heard that Sutter doesn't like American College players. I also heard the GM of the Avalanche is trying to fleece Chris Drury back from the Flames.... hmmmmm....
  6. I am taking Friday off to avoid the traffic in Denver on the way down. There is a Chili's near the World Arena. Other than that, don't know of any other place nearby.
  7. I am coming down from Ft. Collins. Staying for the weekend..bring a broom for both games. Let me know!
  8. Dagies, It was '97, last regular season series at the old arena in Denver. I actually am hoping for at least 3 points in the springs. Call me greedy!
  9. I was reading a great thread on the POI board. The concensus there seems to be 1. Wisconsin 2. YOUR Fighting Sioux 3. SCSU 4. UMD, etc. Anyway, I was wondering if we could do the same. Here's my "over the years" top 5 for the Sioux! 1. Meenesoda. (always gotta hate the rodents!) 2. Wisconsin (although they seem to be slipping this year) 3. Denver (I live in Colorado...gotta pump myself up for this February!) 4. Colorado College (see above!) 5. SCSU....gotta hate their administration, arena AND the fans!
  10. I wish them good luck in joining the Big Sky. I think that joining the Big Sky Conference would be a great choice for a new DI-AA school from the Dakotas. Hopefully, the California schools would leave that conference..... If UND were going to jump to I-AA, I would hope they would attempt to join the Big Sky Conference. It would be fun to see rivalries with the Montana schools. Although I don't think UND should go I-AA at this time, I would also hope that if NDSU and SDSU go there, they would help bring UND eventually.
  11. OOPS... They beat MSU Mankato earlier this year. Two wins against the WCHA.
  12. It looks like the Women's Sioux Hockey Team are starting to gel in their first year at D-I. 6-3 in their last 9 games, from a 3-8-2 start. On 1/18/03, they beat Bemiji State 2-1 in Bemiji. In November, Bemiji swept the Sioux in the Ralph. This appears to be the first win against a WCHA opponent. (Watch out Greyeagle, the Lady Rodents will feel their rath soon!) Although I'm pretty neutral about Women's hockey, I think we gotta give those ladies some kudos for their effort this year!
  13. "For some to suggest my reaction was an effort to break into a big market is a joke. I pay more in taxes than any writer in this state makes. Iam the only media person in the history of North Dakota to sign a million dollar contract and after seven years of newstalk radio I still have the highest rated show beating what little competition there is by a five-to-one margin." Put down that crack pipe Ed, get real... I can't imagine any member of the media in North Dakota signing a short term $1.0 million deal. That is just bizarre. Maybe it was $1.0 million over 45 years. As far as the "Big Market" goes, I think Ed probably wrote that off years ago. A tirade like that wouldn't be tolerated in a "Big Market" and it shouldn't be tolerated in any market. Ed, If you don't like to get "flamed", maybe you chose the wrong profession? Coach Blais didn't exactly act like a Saint, but is Ed on life long mission of self-destruction?
  14. In the infinite wisdom of the cowpoke, Wyoming has a ban on any four-year state funded school outside of the U of Wyoming in good old Laramie. The limited 4-year satellite programs around the state come from Laramie. I don't disagree with the statement about the U of Minnesota being the only flagship school in that state...but Wyoming went a little extreme. North Dakota ACTUALLY has a higher education system within the state, an exceptional one for the size of the state. The U of Wyoming is not considered a very good school in this region. (I live a mere 90 miles from Laramie in Northern Colorado.) The sad thing is, in Wyoming, the pokes are the only game in the state.
  15. CC and Michigan Tech tie 3-3 tonight. Maine also ties tonight. Provided our Sioux win Saturday against UAA, we could leapfrog up front again. My hope for a #1 Sioux vs. #2 CC matchup in Colorado Springs could happen!
  16. Okay, the Rodents are at 5-1 odds. After last years national championship, is this old saying true? "The suns gotta shine on a dogs ass every once in a while"
  17. I think it's a fair ranking myself. It would be nice to ride another winning streak into April. Going into the CC series at the end of the month, It looks like CC and UND will probably stay 2 + 3. I'm not worried about the AA series this weekend. Hopefully, a week off will do them good before heading to the springs!
  18. And does it matter at this point in the season. I like to look at the pairwise, which has the Sioux at #4. Although, I'd always like to see UND ranked #1, I guess it's more important to drag a winning streak through the NCAA tourney than early in the season. What's the feeling about this amongst the Sioux folk?
  19. I listened to the game over the internet feed tonight. Did Ballard actually taunt Parise? If he did, is he nuts? That's all you need to do, give the best player on the ice another reason to whoop up on your team again. I think this is the game that has cemented their confidence. Now there is no doubt they can play with anybody in the nation. I can't wait for the CC series in the springs!
  20. Okay. I sent my boycott threat email to Ms. Brown. I guess I'll have to buy my books online now. I hope they aren't all colored in before I get them! I save my $$ for UND stuff to buy at the Ralph anyway.....
  21. I liked this quote from the article: "Parise said he plans to stay in Grand Forks until the Sioux win an NCAA title." How about staying for 3 or 4?
  22. It looked a little wierd to me. Means seems to play politics for attention to keep the spotlight on himself. I can't see how he would think that these actions would help him get any type of coalition to put him in office? I'm thankful that the people of Pine Ridge, while probably supporting him on his problems with the conviction in "74", were inclined to not want him in a leadership role on the council. Anyway, I doubt that Grand Forks has seen the last of him and his buddy from the Univeristy of Colorado.
