  1. Ahh, Dave... Yes. Perhaps the smartest man I've ever met. He was recruited by some men in suits with sunglasses to go to work for an unnamed "company". I haven't seen him since we were at a LA Kings game in '84.
  2. It would've been to your left, toward the zamboni exit/entrance. I wish my memory was not so foggy (about this and other things from that era ). You would've seen me right above the visitor's box when you worked the penalty box. Somehow a seat was always available to me. I always wore a referee's shirt.
  3. pretty blurry on specifics: I'd say '74 or '75. Not '76 as I was gone by then.
  4. We were all pretty stoned, so it wasn't all that bad. I would've hated to have to go through it without a buzz on, though.
  5. Denny was the guy who took the chicken off the ice that I threw there back in the 70s.
  6. RIP Troy. I'll keep you on speed dial.
  7. That hair looks suspiciously similar to the 'dos sported by a hated team from the south...
  8. Good for Michael.
  9. You might be confusing this with one of the Minnesota teams: they all get letters for participation.
  10. The fact that traffic needed to be diverted is probably the reason the police were called. Finley and Frattin were behaving like idiots and deserve whatever punishment comes their way. I'm getting really tired of the apologists here; Actions like this aren't humorous; don't reflect well upon the University or the hockey program; and are a big deal. I doubt that Frattin's heard the end of this from Hakstol; I don't think he shares your "boys will be boys" attitude about these public displays of immaturity.
  11. I don't know what Grant Potulny has to prove; he captained a superb Gophers team, scored the overtime game-winner in a national championship game, etc. You going to bad-mouth the former Sioux skaters who never made "the show"?
  12. Seems Lemaire will be named coach of the NJ Devils today. Wonder what that will mean to former college hockey players on the Dev's roster? And goal-scorers, for that matter.
  13. ^I'm going to go on the record here that Mr. Cichy, while talented, is NOT the second coming.

    Ryan Hill

Interesting tidbit if one reads to the end of the article: "A total of eight players who spent the 2008-09 season in the USHL have committed to the University of North Dakota; Brett Bruneteau (Des Moines), Mike Fink (Des Moines), Joe Gleason (Des Moines), Matt White (Des Moines), Michael Forney (Green Bay)..." Is this the answer to the question that's been asked for months?

  16. Fat chance
  17. Wow. Just wow.
  18. Give me a hot goalie and the ability to roll 3-1/2 lines and I'll take my chances against any team of blue-chippers in a one-and-done.
  19. You're not suggesting the Moorhead coach actively recruits players, are you? Next thing you'll be telling us is that a player on the Spud roster actually lives in Fargo...
  20. "WCHA teams each earned about $91,000 from the 2009 league playoffs, said McLeod." Noice money!!!!!
  21. So two teams would head from the lower 48 to Alaska to play series against Fairbanks one weekend and Anchorage the next. Think of the impact it would have on the hotel industry up there with two WCHA teams spending eleven days in Alaska every other week.
  22. Wow! Big drop-off between third place and the rest there. Good example of just how small a universe college hockey is.
  23. Jeepers. I'm still trying to decide what kind of tequila to buy for the weekend and you've already plotted out 'til March!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I like Idalski's greens with the script "North Dakota". Very old-skool
