  1. So then we aren’t going undefeated?
  2. Isn’t the young goalie that played tonight one we are trying to develop?
  3. That’s what it seemed like to me. It looked like after they took the lead, they looked disinterested, although the Q had something to do with it. The concerning part is that it was the veterans that played poorly in the defensive zone. The guy people say should be at the pro level, Kleven, hardly looked the part in the series. Gaber continues to get his shot blocked when he has a wide open teammate. Since we all have seen these guys play the right way, we should be fine, but you don’t get these non conference games back, and I don’t think the NCHC will be as dominating as years past against other leagues. One other thing, bring back Hain, Jamernik, and Senden.
  4. Play Kunz tonight, and then assess whether he should play on the big ice surface at Mariucci next week, or put in Albrecht. They are set up better speed wise for the bigger ice surface, but gapping is always an issue when you play on it so rarely. Huge advantage for Minnesota in that regard. But let’s finish off this series well and have confidence heading there next week.
  5. That was a cheap shot by Waege.
  6. So, Portz and Albrecht out for Ness and Strinden. This all looks good to me.
  7. I’m not so sure Blake is faster than either James or McGlaughlin, but it would be interesting to see.
  8. I’m sure they thought he crossed the blue line with possession which would be automatic offsides in that circumstance. If he chipped it, and was tracking it down, then Jamernik would have time to tag up. It was close either way.
  9. For NCHC conference record against other leagues and for gfhockey’s well being, hopefully they turn it around, although he may not awaken from his stupor to witness it until after the weekend.
  10. Blake, James, and McGlaughlin could all use the training facilities for a few years to make the transition to the next level. Being slight of frame and an 82 game schedule don’t go hand in hand. Tyson Jost could probably tell them that two or three years could benefit them, especially when James and Blake are true freshmen to begin with. If their NHL teams are smart, they won’t rush them, like Colorado did with Jost. We know Philadelphia already tried to rush McGlaughlin by trying to sign him last summer. Would love to see all of them around when Jaden Perron and Panzer get here. That could be return to the “Speed Kills” days!
  11. Such is part of our fan base, they love to be miserable. Probably makes them feel good about their shortcomings, by expecting perfection from others. Most great teams build throughout the year and go through ups and downs and adversity here and there. I think it is exciting that our freshmen are performing great already, and how that might translate after Christmas. Having that comeback against a very good team is another positive to put in their recall when the next adversity hits, and remember we have depth in case injury adversity crops up. Glass very much half full in my eyes.
  12. Everyone complained about Driscoll last year until he became great down the stretch. Don’t overreact from one game. Magnus Chrona won a championship but he gave up goals on the first three shots last night. It happens, and many times it isn’t all on the goalie. Remember when everyone ripped Hakstol for starting Cam Johnson against Lake Superior? He turned out winning a Championship too.
  13. Berry slipped and said it was nice to win, even though it was a tie. Even though it felt good, I hope they come out with fire tomorrow because you know it felt like a loss for Q, and UND can’t afford to think it was a win.
  14. At the very least, they should have told him that he either needed to replace his goaltender or take a timeout. The fact that they allowed him to challenge after that long delay was insane. I assume he didn’t ask for the challenge until after the stall.
  15. They definitely need to come up with a rule that you lose your timeout regardless of the outcome of a challenge if you use excessive time to challenge by making your goalie stall so you can check to see if it is close enough to challenge.
  16. Yeah, you would think that Quinnipiac was the sisters of the poor or something. A very veteran team that took advantage of the opportunities they had, but were otherwise outplayed by a team with very young, but talented freshmen forwards. It always amazes me how crazy people get early in the season, especially gfhockey, because it is always about what happens in the playoffs that counts. We know that, because Duluth hasn’t won anything in the regular season. Notice he shut up though after the comeback and Duluth coming close for a while there tonight of having the same number of shots on goal as Mankato had goals.
  17. Probably because we have had success against them. Let's hope we can continue to "tolerate" them after this weekend!
  18. So what is the deal with Hedquist, is he hurt? Haven’t seen his name in the lineup lately.
  19. Vegas a week later could deter attendance for many UND fans.
  20. I hope the coaches are addressing that with the players before it potentially costs us a game. On the road there can be some homer calls as it is, so don't give the officials a chance to use a judgement call against you.
  21. Have one ticket for both Friday and Saturday versus Quinnipiac on the end UND shoots twice, Section 302A Row G. $25 each.
  22. I know Hennessy isn’t too enamored with him. He has called him a jerk because of his attitude and arrogance, and he might have stood him up after saying he would do an interview. Listen to him this week and he might tell what his issues are with him.
  23. How many did he get blocked? It seems to me that Blake’s skills go for naught if the power play always is aimed at getting Gaber the puck looping at the blue line and very few shots seem to be getting through because the opposition recognize what we are trying to do. If Gaber can find a few cross ice seams rather than shoot it every time it might be effective again. Our second power play unit seems to be less predictable. I always wanted Blake with Gaber, but now not sure if the puck will be in his hands enough with Gaber holding it much of the time. Maybe things just need a little more time to gel, as the coaches haven’t had too much time to work with the units, especially with the new freshmen and faces on the units.
  24. …and I see today, he and Granlund are the first unit forwards on the penalty kill.
  25. Nice to see Cole Smith get his first NHL point yesterday though.
