  1. A lesson for those that want to take the fast track to the NHL. Develop and perfect your roles at the college level first before you entertain the offer to move on to the hardest league. Not the best move by Jost or Joe Sakic having him leave after one year.
  2. Both Sanderson and Pinto tied for second in rookie points with 9.
  3. Jake Sanderson first star tonight with a couple assists, four shots on goal and strong defensive play with 5 blocks.

    Miami @ UND

You said it, if UND just thinks that they can get back on track because they are playing a lower tier team, then I think they will be sadly mistaken. They can't afford to take anyone lightly, and if this team does, they will likely get beat.
  5. Yeah, I saw that they haven't turned the ball over as much this year, so one can hope that they can carry that forward. What the ratio of their turnovers needs to be at compared to their opposition to be an upper tier team with a smaller lineup depends on whether they can use that quickness to offset the height in rebounding.
  6. Then hopefully they have fixed the chronic turnover problem they have had over the years, because a combination of getting out rebounded and turning the ball over isn’t going to produce a high Summit finish.
  7. The thing about trick plays is that if they don’t work you get behind the chains which many times leads to turnovers. If we’re moving the ball, don’t get too cute and change momentum by overthinking it. If they don’t take penalties and get into long yardage situations, they can make it hard for NDSU to know what Danny is going to do. Should be fun, and hopefully they can turn the tide against NDSU.
  8. We can’t depend on the trick play to get us in the end zone a lot, so having multiple play options off the same set might make it easier to get all of the guys you mentioned a little space.
  9. Wouldn't take someone seriously who is critical of everyone, because he has all of the answers. Guess what, if you spend that much time on a message board and all you have are negative takes, it speaks volumes about what it is compensating for.
  10. We beat his dad’s CC team in the semi finals in our 1997 title run with Jason Blake as a key player. Would be nice if Jackson Blake would team up with Mac Swanson down the road for another NCAA title.
  11. Wouldn't have been a good look for the NFL if the Bills had won and they had two huge bad calls, including the no catch by Buffalo's receiver. That should have been reviewed.
  12. At what point do NFL teams ditch the prevent defense and realize that giving up 15-20 yards a pop and letting them get out of bounds when a team has no timeouts just doesn’t work. To the contrary, the other team even had plenty of time to win the game. Bills should have learned the lesson in their playoff loss to KC, and yet teams continue to get burned with that philosophy.
  13. Well our team captain is married, so not sure he would be spending his spare time with the guys.
  14. Just curious if you remember many of Hakstol’s teams before Christmas?
  15. So do we know when Bast will be back? Would be nice to be able to sit someone when they aren’t playing well, and he impressed me last year in his limited action.
  16. When things weren’t going well for long stretches I was hoping Strinden would have been inserted on one of the lines to see if he had some energy. He was the extra skater I believe.
  17. He was saying the players are less frustrated because they know they can play better and control that themselves, thus have less apprehension about what the future holds.
  18. I thought the same at first, but actually he was smart because if he would have gone faster the ref would have waived the icing off because he would have been able to get the puck. It barely crossed the line as it was, but since he let the guy close the gap, the ref had to recognize who was ahead at the dot.
  19. Not out of line, just need to realize things can change on a dime. There is a reason Duluth hasn’t won a league title in over 30 years but has been known as one of the top teams in the country over the last decade. You need to find a way to make the tourney and be playing your best hockey then. I’m holding hope that Moore, Frisch and Kleven will take major steps forward which has been one of our problems so far. Good play in the defensive end will lead to better transition out of the zone and hopefully spending more time in the offensive end.
  20. The good thing, is that other than Denver, everyone else is splitting as well, so winning series against the rest of them is necessary with our out of conference record to this point. Denver went on a run after getting swept by us last year, let’s do the same.
  21. Travis Dunn trying to blame this on youth. It’s our veterans that have been just plain bad. Cooper Moore, uff!
  22. Maybe the worst thing that happened was the goal early, because they thought they could play shutdown hockey after the first 6 seconds. Remember when UND used to be the team that were relentless on the forecheck and hard to play five on five. I fear if they don’t go 4 for 4 in the next stretch, another Fargo regional could be shot. Maybe a good things for the fans that they haven’t started selling tickets to that yet. The rest of the games before Christmas are critical to flip the negative direction.
  23. I worry about the game in Bemidji, as I don’t think we are playing hard enough to match how hard Bemidji plays.
  24. My biggest concern isn’t what the lines are, although I agree these look to be mismatched. My concern is how many of our upperclassmen look to have taken a step back this year, including half of our defense. So far, I am getting shades of St. Cloud, and not seeing the passion or extra effort needed to succeed in this league. That needs to start tonight, because the underclassmen need that example to live up to.
  25. My point was that if you are already getting top draft picks and not succeeding, NIL isn’t going to magically make you a better team, because college hockey has shown that upperclassmen are a big part of the equation for success.
