Assuming you mean to Berg, but he had another one to Gaber as well, but that one wasn’t “eyes in the back of the head” good.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
tnt replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
The fact Duluth hasn’t won a league championship in over 30 years, but has 3 NCAA titles shows that getting on a four game winning streak by having a hot goaltender and getting a few bounces can go a long ways in winning it all. So yeah, if there were series, that might be a lot different, but that is what really makes the basketball and hockey tournaments so unpredictable, because you always have the Cinderella story. -
It would be nice if Western can take some more points from St. Cloud and Denver take some from them as well, but really we just need to take care of ourselves to maintain our lead and pairwise positioning.
-
After watching Duluth, I wouldn’t want to count on them taking one from St. Cloud the last weekend of the season, so hopefully we can take care of business ourselves and not need Duluth to steal one.
-
Get the extra point Western!
-
I thought it would be touch for them as well, but confidence is a huge thing, and they are brimming with it now. We have seen UND when they have swagger and when they don't, and the difference is monumental.
-
So you’re saying that the same people that were talking national championships after the Denver series a few weeks ago, are overreacting to one weekend? Funny how they expect college kids to not get too low, or too high, but they can change their tune from one minute to the next within the same game. Why not let the season play out then make judgements, after all these are the same players they were so high on after the Denver series.

Coming from someone who always is mocking grit, that is priceless.

https://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/team/North-Dakota/40/gamebygame,20152016 One can only hope to repeat the path from this season after getting swept in the state of Colorado. Need to do some soul searching and get back to the type of game they displayed against Denver three weeks ago. That seems like ages ago, but maybe they became full of themselves.

Didn’t get to play with one of our best teams, outplayed both BU and Duluth in regional games, so in a one and done it is sometimes a crapshoot. Ask Minnesota with guys like Nies, Cooley, Snuggerud, Faber, LaCombe and Johnson. That said, they need to realize that in those situations they absolutely can’t get behind the eight ball and think that they will win in the end, as we’ve seen teams hanging around are dangerous. Sometimes though, you can’t control how your goalie or the other goalie plays, and that could be the difference. Need four games where your goalie and special teams are clicking.
-
Exactly, they need to get back to the team that doesn’t take many penalties, and not focus on taking shots because they are pissed off. Total need for a reset, knowing that we have a lot to play for in a high seed and conference implications.
-
Like I said before this series, CC smells home ice for the first time in many moons. UND needed to match that intensity. Everybody needs to bring it, but they definitely need more from guys like Schmaltz and Perron.
-
Hopefully they dwell on this sitting in the hotel rooms before the next game.
-
Ever since Schlossman brought up our lack of penalties we have reverted back to being in the box all the time.
-
When I hear the players talk about revenge, I always cringe, because they haven’t done well in the past talking about it and following through.
-
Yes, a possibility to win a 4th conference championship in 5 years in the most difficult league. If only you had more expectations for your own life you wouldn’t be a keyboard warrior. The very definition of a loser, living through other people’s success or failure. Go on and enjoy your crotchety life.
-
Exactly, so why is anyone getting bent out of shape now, when it is all about the postseason? Minnesota got throttled tonight, but it doesn’t mean they won’t be a threat. Could be that with that stretch of not losing in regulation, they thought things would just work out. Well now they need to work through what every hopeful championship team has to work through—adversity! Confidence is great, but sometimes they need a reminder that they can be taken to the woodshed if they don’t bring it.
-
You only show up when things are bad, you are a complete loser.
-
If I were CC and #28 in particular, I wouldn’t get too cocky, as they still will probably have to win the Frozen Faceoff, and might need to get by us again.
-
Way to come out of the woodwork on one bad game. Every team needs a reset, this could be one for UND. You are the one who is embarrasing.
-
How about a shorty here!
-
25% on the power play is more normal than the tear we have been on. Need to get some even strength goals.
-
Game is far from over. Plenty of times they eek out wins.
-
I keep thinking Schmaltz and Pearson are going to score a huge goal sometime, but we can only hope that comes in the National Tournament. I don’t think you put either one of them on the power play to get them going though.
-
But nothing would have happened if Schmaltz would have covered out front instead of doubling up in the corner. Good thing he produces so much on the power play to make up for it (tongue in cheek).
