Sounds to me like a bunch of excuses that shouldn’t be happening now. I can see getting embarrassed consistently in your first year when the program was in transition, but to be this uncompetitive with someone like Borowicz on your team means you have failed miserably to surround her with talent and determination, or you can’t get them to buy into your systems. The fact that the assistants become the scapegoats and she is left uttering excuses instead of taking responsibility doesn’t give me confidence the program is moving in the right direction.

I would argue that we played better against Omaha but didn’t get the goaltending we got when we played Western. Western took it to us at home. I worry much more about Western’s offense, although both teams can have a goaltender that can play great.

Veremyev for CC sure is a bit of a punk. He definitely likes to push buttons like he did against UND. I’m sure he’ll get the other end of it too though.

Miami @ UND - Hawks vs Hawks to go to the Frozen Faceoff
tnt replied to brianvf's topic in Men's Hockey
Did the Miami player get a game misconduct for the kneeing? I would argue that was a more deliberate play than Wiebe’s hit. -
Then we’ll expect to see Jace committing to a major program soon?
-
Traffic, yes! Never have I had to wait for a second light more often.
-
Maybe he is a possibility, as he has played against top USHL competition quite a bit more.
-
Is Lincoln Kuehne eligible in August to commit, or was he already eligible?
-
Jaksen had 18 goals 10 assists in 22 games his freshman season with EGF, while Jace had 4 goals and 13 assists in 31 games. I know it isn't apples to apples, but those numbers are quite different.

As Schlossman said before, many players advisors are already getting a feel for who are interested in their “client”, so who knows what is out there, perhaps a Tanner Ludtke. Seriously doubt that with his brother at Omaha and where do you make power play room for someone like that with McLaughlin, Perron, Berg, Blake, Kunz, Swanson and Boisvert? Of course you make room, but more likely a rough and tumble guy like Johannes or Jamernik could be a need.
-
Yeah, heaven forbid we replace him with another Cameron Berg, or a Hunter Johannes type. We need a good mix of size, speed, grit and determination, and if the coaches think we are missing an element to being a championship team, I don’t mind them going out to get a missing component. Feel bad for Panzer if that is the case, as his dad expressed his dismay with the portal, but like it or not, it will play some part in team makeup.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
tnt replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
Especially in all the close games we have had that went to overtime. Sometimes the correct play is dumping it in. In fact in those late game situations it absolutely should be a viable option. I get that line doesn't have the guys always to dig the puck back out of the corner, but making the opposition go 200 feet near the end of regulation isn't necessarily a bad thing either. -
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/superstar-in-the-making-landon-duponts-special-talent-shines-in-minor-hockey/sn-amp/ Probably a long shot he goes the college route and not go to Michigan if he does, but Berry should work some Alberta connections to at least get him to visit when eligible.
-
Isn’t that ludicrous?
-
Not to me. What is the story? I assume the baggage is the reason that he has played for several teams?
-
An unofficial visit of course.
-
Are you saying they would have lost the point they got getting to overtime?
-
Don’t forget St. Cloud choking to Air Force paving the way to the Frozen Four where they had to beat Ohio State and Notre Dame before the Big Ten became more viable. Nevermind getting into the tourney by .001, and Bowling Green choking away a late lead another year. Like we said, you need good fortune along the way as well, like not having to play a well rested team like we did because of Michigan’s Covid forfeit. Don’t get me wrong, they did what they had to do in those circumstances, but you can’t deny the good fortune, and that going against us against BU and Duluth. Who knows what happens if those circumstances flip in our favor, along with the Covid cancelled year.
-
He was committed to Western and flipped when he started playing really well in the USHL as recall.
-
He is a huge fan of Duluth, in fact so much so that he helped tutor Cole Spicer, which ironically is why he is ineligible.
-
So apparently Hastings is a poor coach too, as Wisconsin lost again to a Ohio State team who aren’t even close to being a bubble team.
-
It would be the worst year ever for them to not only make the Frozen Faceoff, but win it. That would be going from the outhouse to the penthouse in a hurry, and really put a wrench in everyone’s plans.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
tnt replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
Personally, I think it is indicative of the type of defenseman that Berry went after when he did the defensive reboot. We needed guys that were going to be defensively responsible first and foremost, and then worry about adding to the point totals. It seems that both Livanavage and Wiebe have some nice upside offensively, and they both seem to realize they can be offensive when the situation dictates. With that in mind, it is very nice that Livanavage has the most points at UND as a rookie defenseman since Brian Lee. In college hockey today, you need some offense from your defensemen, but like you said, with our forwards, you don't have to sell out for that offense. I think we move more to the offensive defense in the future, and just make sure they do so responsibly and when the situation dictates. That said, you are always going to need guys like Bennett Zmolek and Keaton Pehrson, who are just plain hard to play against. A good balance is always desirable. -
I would think Littler would be ahead of Klee, unless of course his injury is an issue going forward.

I thought I saw somewhere that Lund is a big gopher fan.
